    One of the very finest with the horn, but never got as much recognition as he deserved.  Ridgewalker's review below lists his accomplishments, which I won't repeat, save to say that his "First Light" album is scintillating.

    Freddie Hubbard isn't a common household name...unless you'e in the business. For over fifty years, Hubbard played behind, along side and in front of the greatest Jazz musicians. I've been listening to Hubbard for around 25 years and I can pick his clear and powerful sound out of a crowd. This was a class act who played with what amounts to a Who's Who of post WWII Jazz greats, including Wes and Monk Montgomery, Philly Joe Jones, Sonny Rollins, Slide Hampton, Eric Dolphy , J. J. Johnson, Quincy Jones, McCoy Tyner, Wayne Shorter, replaced Lee Morgan in Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Herbie Hancock, Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, George Benson, Ron Carter, Stanley Turrentine, Hubert Laws, Joe Henderson, Bobby Hutcherson, Woody Shaw, Benny Golson, Elvin Jones, Benny Green and percussionist extraordinaire, Airto Moreira.
