Should be for military use only. No clue why you would want to drive one of these.

Nitwits, cornballs, the emotionally needy and socially inadequate bought these a few years back to satisfy their warped and juvenile requirement for a status symbol.  Buying such a ridiculous gas guzzler, to them, was a way of saying, "I'm cool."  At that time, those truly in the know realized these wasteful jackasses were twerps.  Of course, now virtually everyone knows what kind of message owning a Hummer sends: "Hey, I'm a douchebag!!!"

The best thing about this great country is that if a person strives to own the biggest, strongest, most capable off-road vehicle ever created, he/she has the right to do so. And many of our brothers, fathers, and friends in uniform gave their lives so that you would have the right to bitch about it.

If you really need one of these, then you're already enlisted in the United States Army.

Ok, solid army car but why would one need to own one in the city...compensation?

If you actually need an SUV (and there are plenty of people who do), I would think this is a good one. But the typical suburban SUV owner has no need for one of these things.

Nope. I prefer a regular size SU vehicle.

Too big, too gas guzzling, and too "look at me."

I know a lot of people like them but they were not designed for city driving. People who own these have more money than sense. They take up all kinds of parking...are total gas hogs, and look clumsy on the road.

About the only detriment this vehicle has off-road is the width. There are a couple tight spots this beast won't fit in, but the rest of the time, an H1 will drive over it.

The Hummer H1 has Best in Class off road capabilities, but it is lacking in creature comforts, handling capabilities, and gets lousy gas milage for something so slow ( The Hummer does not 'accelerate', so much as it 'accumulates' speed )...not to mention you get the ubiquitous references to ones "manhood" from smarmy, tree-hugging liberals. It has it's merits and a certain panache of course, but I think that there are better alternatives to the H1.... The H2 is a good one, and it can do the off-road stuff just as handily... Plus famed Corvette tuners, Lingenfelter, can modify an H2 that remedies the handling and performance shortcoming that come standard from the factory. For the price of a fully loaded H1 you can drive a Lingenfelter modified, H2 and smoke GT Mustangs all day long...If that's your thing...

Haters. These decendants of the beasts that I drove all over creation are pretty sweet. Bad fuel economy? Yeah. Big ole billy badass looks? You got it, but if I drove one I wouldn't be compensating for anything, I just like the way it looks. To conclude this rant, this thing will drive over almost anything and its a shame I can't get one with a turret like what I drove in the Marines. Nobody would argue with any lane changes if I had 8 missles and a .50 cal on my truck!

Damn, these things are ugly. If I'm going to pay up to $ 50,000.00 for a car, it needs to look better than this overrated piece of junk.

I own a 1998 wagon and its great, for being one of the largest SUV's. Now for everyone saying its a gas guzzler, well,of course it is. it weighs two and a half tons. If you want gas mileage, get a Honda. After all, this thing is about as aerodynamic as a refrigerator, but fun to drive.

I have never owned a Hummer but noticed the dash on my friend's is peeling where there is some sort of fake metal detailing. Also, he only gets 6mpg in the city and 8 on the hwy. That's got to be embarrassing filling up at the pump.

This rating makes Hummer sound like a Make, and the H1, the model. The H1 is a model, but the Make is AM General. This should say "AM General H1". There is no longer such thing as a Hummer. For more info, see my comment on Hummer or e-mail me.
