Jerk

its the one i use when profanity isnt appropriate and somebody has pissed me off or been rude to me. ok profanity is never really appropriate but sometimes it just sounds better.

Pfft. . . I've heard it from my opponents. I take it as a compliment in most cases.

Less effective than 'idiot' or ' dumbass', but when you add a suffix like 'off' it rates up there with 'cretin' and 'poltroon'.

Just what does this hackneyed, overused word mean, oh ye learned members of the RIA?

Understood, but I can think of far more colorful terms to use when I want to insult someone.

My usually response: "And your point is?"

Although I don't think it's nice to call people names, I've certainly heard a lot worse.

When my fiance calls me this, I follow it up with the word off. "Jerk." Off." I usually get smacked up side the head for it, but it's fun!

Whoever came up with this list obviously attended at least one of my ex wife's family reunions.

Unimaginative, but it does get the point across.

Still PC around the office and is able to convey a lot depending on the inflection and whether or not "stupid" is used in conjunction with it.

Usually in reference to the guy that just cut me off in traffic or decided not to use his blinker or breaks and made a quick turn.

Better than some bad names, but I don't like calling people names anyway. Only good when used against evil/ill-mannered men.

i know quite a few people that have that name. it seems i should get to know some new people.

A little soft, but it's mainly used for public television or when there's children around.

CastleBee said it sounds east coast, so maybe I was from there in a former life. This is one of my good old stand-by's. You can use it while driving, while watching sports on t.v., or just out walking. Never loses its freshness.
