I enjoyed the character Padme. Brave, standing up for what she believed in. In the Wookieepedia article on her, I learned that she died from internal injuries caused by Anakin's force choking her, which was not found out until much later; making it appear at first that she had lost the will to live.

Most of her scenes made me ill. How could Luke and Leia come from her and Anakin?

Whiny doll.  There was more depth to Yoda's light saber than to this bimbo's character.

I was extremely disappointed with the ending Lucas cooked up for padme. She was such a strong forceful character and to have her just give up during childbirth didn't fit in my opinion. I would have seen her going down fighting before she would just give up and die.

I can't blame Portman for that horrible script. The lines were good if she were talking to a droid, but Lucas did everything possible to ruin the chemistry between the actors. It was there, but it was part of his dramatic effect. Both her and Hayden are reasonably good actors, but they could never get along with each other on screen despite that and their natural chemistry. I'm sure it didn't please Portman, she was definately not very happy with what she saw on screen. Like Ford said to Lucas: "You can write this ****, George, but you sure as Hell can't say them."

The did need more character development for Padme but I think she's still a good lady. Yes, I didn't see much chemistry between her and Anakin either but I think no one tried to develop her character much.

Leia gets much of her ambition from her mother. Although I do believe Padme could have been a more complex character, I am pleased the way she was. She tried to be professional and diplomatic, though she had flaws, as was seen in Episode 2 when she rushed to a decision to save Obi-Wan not knowing the danger ahead.

Even knowing what Lucas was trying to accomplish doesn't excuse the fact that Padme comes off as totally one dimensional. Sure, as a politician she had to guard her feelings, but wouldn't you expect SOME reaction when Anakin told her he'd killed everyone in the raider's village, even the women and children? There was nothing. And the acting in the third one was just as horrible. Here she is, supposed to be torn over the path that Anakin is taking, but it comes across like she's bored and reading from a teleprompter. This character REALLY need more vitality and believablity to make these movies work, and it just wasn't there.

Definetely not as cool as Leia. I thought she wasn't tough enough. Sure, she could fight, but she was still a queen that dressed up in these elegant gowns. Did anyone else notice that she's really short?

I find myself torn. I love Natalie Portman, but I don't find this charecter particularly interesting. Amidala may have opened Portman up to a broader audience, but it's far from her best work.

O.K., I'm looking into the future, I see guys giving her 5 stars because they think she's cute! Wow! Not only is she not cute, but she's stupid! Not to mention terrible acting from Natalie Portman.

As a character, I think Padme is quite good...except when you compare her to Leia. Padme lacks a spark that really makes her interesting, but I understand what Lucas was trying to accomplish with her character. The romance between her and Anakin lacks complete chemistry though and that's why I detracted a couple stars.

Padme is ok. She's really pretty and all but she's no where near as cool as Leia. And the romance, was it just me or did she act the whole film like she wasn't at all interesting in whiny, stalker jedi boy and then, I truly deeply love u?sorry but those two had absolutely no chemistry whatsoever.U just look at them and go 'why are they together?' To me it didn't make sense but hey, maybe I'm just crazy! yeh so as I was saying, Padme's alright, but she's no Princess Leia!
