He provides encouragement to many people and can't see what harm that does to anyone. As of late I notice he closes his eyes and blinks way too much. I heard when someone is lying they look away from you, I pray his closing his eyes is not like the looking away when lying thing.

Joel Osteen is a talented speaker and I don't feel like he pushes too hard. His messages are uplifting and he's a positive influence for a lot of people.

I have to say I enjoy Joel Osteen. I actually like the fact that he doesn't seem to glom his own personal finances off of the church but off of his own books and other businesss ventures (just my impression, so don't start flaming me over it.) He is not heavy-handed with the guilt crap that other personalities mainly use as leverage to get people to buy their books and CD/DVDs and give unbiblical/fraudulent "tithes". I usually feel very good after watching his sermons and they do seem uplifting and not dogmatic (which I know is directly opposite of the rest of the "fire 'n brimstone" bible beaters who want him to condemn everyone (except them) to hell - lol) He's not perfect by any means, but a far sight better than the slimy money-grubbing dirtbags running around as "pastors" (which is in no way, shape or form a biblical position or title.)

Joel is one of the most inspirational ministers that you will ever find. I love his positive, uplifting, never give up message that he delivers week after week. Even if you may disagree with his message it still doesn't change the fact that his intentions are good and that's what's most important.

Doesn't take a stand on capital punishment. Won't take a stand on mormonism. Says he doesn't know anything about it. Says how would attend weddings of his gay friends. I was shocked when I heard him say this from his own mouth on the Pier show. Such a pity.

The tv program of Joel Osteen is rather "lightweight" on scripture and Bible doctrine. Go to His church and get involved with "its" ministry and teaching, "IT is THE real DEAL!!" Its hypocritical to "judge". the BBQ, when you don't eat it?

Joel is a great motivational speaker but he doesn't go as deep as he could... anyone who preaches the word of God and inspiration to do the right thing in life is alright in my book. And to all to all the haters, I don't see you out there preaching the word of God and even spreading a good message, Hypocrites they have been around since before Jesus!

He gives you tiny bits and pieces information from the bible the rest message is inspirational.People think he gives hope to people who need inspiration but the problem is without Jesus the bible tells us we are under the wrath of God for the sins commited against him. Those sins have to be atoned and paid for by Jesus. Joel gives hope but it I think it is a false hope if sins are not atoned for. I like his messages on having a good positive attitude but it ends there. For some reason I have not seen him on television of late. I wonder how long the Joel faze will last when people see they still don't have all of these blessings from the Lord he keeps promising them there are entitled to.

People need hope in these difficult days we are living in, if God has gifted him as a teacher of hope and inspiration so be it. I don't have a problem with it... if you are looking for a great Bible Scholar keep looking.

His teachings are great example of playing the Grace card. He gives everyone saved or not unlimited access to the blessings of God while they think they can half way live for the Lord and half way live as they please in sin.

He said he doesn't take a salary for Pastoring his Church when he was on the Larry King Show, but he sure sell those seats to his Conferences for a price. Can't he trust God and take an offering? Jesus did not charge for his Sermon on the Mount, plus they got a free meal and that was hearing God's personal sermon first hand!

His happy life theme is what he seems to be known for. You don't trust and recieve Jesus for a happy life and money to boot, you receive Jesus because he stepped in and paid for your sins, so you don't have to pay for your sins in Hell. I gave Joel an ok rating because any true Christian should know this and his happy life teaching will not mislead people with a full grasp on the teachings of Jesus. His teachings and books inspire and provide hope to the poor and hopeless. I don't get the sense he is condemning the poor either, I think he is encouraging them. The problem with people that are not Christians and listen to his teaching is,this is not why they should turn to Jesus. We turn to God to flee from sin so we can afford going to Hell ( the Wrath to come) We allow Jesus to pay for our sins and forgive us. In my opinion, wicked and sin loving people having a great deal of fun wallowing in their pleasures no matter how temporal they may be. Trying to live right and follow Jesus ... Read more

I ENJOY his feel good messages. After years of abuse he preaches on how much God loves us and wants to be good to us, what is so your problem? What is wrong with that? I imagine some Christian fanatic out there is accusing me of only wanting my ears tickled with Joel's happy feel good message but it has helped me beat depression and self-loathing. Do I condemn you if you only eat raw vegetables and never have dessert? Don't retort back to me that vegetables help you grow while dessert has no nutritional value as your comeback. I have seen some of your kind. A good majority of you Joel critics have very mean dispositions but call yourselves Christians. I have run into more than of few of you and you look like you've been sucking on sour pickles and lemon juice! Is being critical, intolerant and short tempered a good witness for your cause? Learn a few lessons from Joel, for instance- how to smile more often, love others, be positive, spread joy, be peaceable and kind. That... Read more

Romans 14:4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. My heart just breaks when I hear this humble, loving man of God being dissed. To all you critics out there whose only claim to fame is writing clever comments and dissing others on a website, just fulfill the purpose & plan that God has for your life and let this man fulfill his. You are not his Lord, neither are you his Master. He has a Lord and Master that is blessing him and approves of his message. Thank you Joel for showing us what God's Grace truly is and not condemning people tp hell with fire and brimstone. Thank you for understanding that you have to catch fish before you clean em.

Joel Osteen seems to understand that GOD alone says who goes to heaven and who goes to hell. We are not to judge. We can tell people what is GOD's best based on the Bible but we can not judge them for heaven or hell. Most of the criticism I have heard on Joel is related to his obeying Jesus and not judging others. He does however tell everyone what GOD's best for us is. The gosple is simple and why should it be complicated? Joel makes it simple like it is. Tune in and give him a chance you will be better off for it. I think you will find that Joel will tell you that as a Christian you have God's favor, and being positive and thankfull toward God will get results in prayer. Prosperity starts on the inside and as a persons spirit and sould prosper so will the lot in life. Tune in he can say it better than I can.

He gathers a huge audience by his stories, analogies and promises of wealth, happiness and prosperity. He is one of the best Motivational Speakers of our time. People need hope and encouragement, nothing wrong with that but after a while all of his messages sound the same (yawning)! His Church is called Lakewood Church but he is not really teaching Bible text. He just throws out a couple of examples from a verse here and there. Got to give him credit for not begging for money non-stop like some of the rest. It basically is Positive Thinking like Norman Vincent Peale books and Philosophy with a few Bible quotations thrown in for good effect. Any one drawing a big crowd has to tell people how wonderful they are for the bottom line purpose ( fill the seats). If he told the truth of how pathetic and messed up the majority of people who are in attendance really are, he would fill about two rows max.

I watch and listen to him on occassion. There are many principles in the bible that he may be teaching but what he teaches is not the full gospel and much of what he teaches does not have a theological backing if he gets off of plain principles. Many religions have principles that work for people to get through everyday situations. Some principals just make you feel better and that is what Joel focuses on. Kind of like the SECRET that has become so popular these days. He's an attractive guy and his wife isn't bad looking as well. He is also a good orator which makes him appealing. Ever notice how when he talks he closes his eyes half the time. If you do not want to be burdened with the full truth, he's your guy. He's eye and ear candy, maybe that is why he has such a large church. May God Bless You

As popular as Joel O'Steen's ministry is, he doesn't seem to know the very basic principle of Christianity. Jesus said, "I am the door, NO one comes to the Father except BY ME"-------"Every knee shall bow, and EVERY tongue confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD." Since his Larry King interview, I don't waste my time with him. He's a false teacher.

Everyone has their own gift in the body of Christ. Can the arm say to the leg I don't need you?Joel has his place in the body of Christ. If you don't like him no one will force you to watch him, if you have a remote control just use it and turn the channel. Be real careful that you have not rushed to judgment without listening to all of his messages. Do you like it when people stereotype or typecast you with out first hearing you out. I have studied what he has taught and it is very edifying. He has never disgraced the body of Christ with adultery or some other scandal. He was called as an encourager and to function in exhortation. He also does not take a salary and said he lives off the profits off of his writings and books. Even if Joel does not strongly teach on sin and hell, people still are without an excuse because the Bible says in Romans that no one has any excuse because "God has written his laws in our hearts". Anyone with a conscience should know right from wrong! Mi... Read more

When I look for Christian inspiration, I think of Joel Osteen. There are those who criticize his lack of scripture-based messages. However, I don't believe that to be his purpose. He is not only a preacher, but also an inspirational speaker. The problem is that everyone has their ideal view of a pastor/preacher, so it is no surprise that not all Christians will like his style. To me, he is so much more. He has brought hope and faith back to Christians who were most likely brow-beat into going to church when they were younger, and told they are bad and going to hell because they choose to sleep in on Sunday. Christ did not close his doors to anyone. Acceptance and forgiveness are what Joel preaches, as well as the awesome power of God to be the driving force in our lives. I'll take Joel over the preacher at a former church of mine - a preacher who stood up in front of everyone, and crticized a women in front of the entire congregation for being 20 minutues late. That doesn't s... Read more

Full of crap! It is sad really. He is so misguided himself. Just another "God is Love..." preacher, forgetting "God is also just." "OH NO!! THERE ARE NO CONSEQUENCES TO SIN!" What? God is merciful and forgiving and he does bless us but God HAS to be just because He is HOLY.

I have a close relative that never misses Joel Osteen's Television Ministry. My relative used to be an Agnostic but now confesses Jesus as his Savior. This is good and bad. The good part is by watching Joel Osteen this relative accepted Christ. The bad part is, he is still living with his girlfriend but has a living wife. He and his live-in girlfriend both confess that they have received Christ as their Savior. They continue to watch Osteen on his TV Ministry without fail, yet neither has any conviction to stop living together. If Joel has preached on the Ten Commandments, they missed the "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery"part. I realize no one is perfect and I 'm far from perfection yet there are many sins most true Believers have been convicted of and have prayed for help in changing. If a person is truly saved & has the Holy Spirit living in them isn't the evidence of a changed life admission of sin, conviction and the desire to change, that is, if "you are born again" (which ... I love Joel Osteen!!! I think that he is a inspirational speaker, and just because he don't use his bible alot in his messaenge doesnt mean he is not GOD sent, or a true man of GOD. When I feel all else has fell, I can listen to Joel and he will say something to show me different. People criticize him, for what, because during his messenge he don't have you going to 5 different books of the bible. I feel that he was sent by GOD to do just what he is doing. Keep doing Joel what GOD has guided you to do, and continue to be obedient to his vision.

The thing I like best about Joel Osteen is that he is giving everybody with the last name Swaggart a continuous case of diarrhea and acid reflux. They just can't get over that someone else is King of the Electronic Church. Joel is more honest and nicer than anybody named Swaggart ever has been, but his doctrine may be weak. But that's show-biz, and an unregulated industry!

For a brief two years, I put my law career on hold, wrote a book, and began motivational speaking. Quickly learned 2% of those guys claim 98% of the business. I refused to darken the door of any church for money. Took two years to run out of resources and go back to law. Joel read the same books as I. Dude is a MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER. His flock feels good and fills stadiums because he is WELL STUDIED, only not in the Word...more like the word of Maxwell and Robbins.

He had a few good years for The Dodgers in the 60's- I wasn't around then, but I think he was one of those guys that whiffed a lot of batters and opponents had a very low batting average against him... but in spite of that he was still around .500 in his career despite some fine years. Oh wait, never mind that was Claude Osteen. This kid looks like Tim Allen, the Home Improvement star that makes all those shitty films for kids.

The Body of Christ needs more of Joel's boldness. Too many are sitting by letting others do it all. I have been greatly inspired by Joel's television ministry and am growing in my walk with Jesus through it. Rather than to critisize the man of God, we might better do the work of Him who sent us as the days are growing shorter. The hour cometh.

I have been given the oppurtunity many times to become a member of a church through out my life. I had even watched Joel on television and wasn't impressed at the time. At the age of 17 and pregnant I walked into Lakewood church when John Osteen was alive and was moved just by being in the church. Words can not describe the feeling I left with, but I left saved and knowing God loved me no matter what. I am now 41 and I regret the fact that I didn't stay with the Lord as I should have. But 2 monthes ago I walked back into Lakewood and that same overwelming feeling of God's love washed back over me and that day I gave my life back to the Lord. I live just 2 hours away from Lakewood and every sunday I am there before 8am. And on Wednesday nights I have the live feed of the service I watch on my computer. What is seen on television is not even close to what goes on in that church. The praise and worship from the sound of the choir, the passionate and God filled word that Victoria teaches i... I am sure Joe is a good person and means well but I don't consider him anyone should listen to. His main mission is growing the biggest church and tickling your ears with a pep talk. He doesn't teach the bible and likely most of his audience is not saved. You never hear about the gospel (death, burial, resurrection), appropriating it by faith, being saved, justification, sanctification, turning form sin, blood, hell, how to get your name in the book of life, what it means to be in Christ, etc., etc. Again, I am sure he is a nice person and means well but he shouldn't be preaching on the TV. I feel he is leading too many people to hell because he is not teaching the gospel. He should go into motivational speaking in the corporate world. He would be awesome at that.
