A little over two years ago, my then fiance' and I went to the Helzburg Jeweler in Richmond, Virginia and purchased a two carat diamond for $9,999.00. As far as I knew they had a great reputation. However, after having the ring for almost two years, the wedding was called off. My ex had given me the ring and advised I could keep it or sell it. It was taken to a jeweler (not Hezberg )for an appraisal. I was told that the ring had major flaws and was not worth 25% of what was paid for it. I take some of the blame in to researching, or having the ring checked before purchasing it, however, Helzburg knew damn well they were selling a flawed diamond. They should be ashamed of themselves for ripping people off ,and I am sure I am not the only one. I have contacted them several times and been all but ignored. I would like to organize a protest in front of the store if I could. I would never consider purchasing anything from them again, and would advise anyone who is purchasing from them to th... BEWARE!!! THEY SELL USED PRODUCTS!!! Last week I purchased a Movado Tungsten watch from Helzberg diamonds for my husband as a wedding gift. This is the watch my husband wanted to have for a long time so, I thought I could surprise him. I looked around in few other stores, compared prices and thought this particular stores has a pretty good deal. Mr. Sunny-so called the store manager told me that the watch cost 2995 dollars but with a special deal and 10% military discount I can get it for 2428 dollars. I thought this would be a pretty nice deal since this watch cost over 3000 dollars in other stores. So, I was thrilled to purchased this watch since I knew I was going to surprise my husband with a great gift that he wanted for so long. The next day when I looked at this watch at daylight I couldn't believe my eyes!!! I realized that the watch was completely torn!!! This watch was worn by someone else for a long time (because this is not the first movado timepiece we own and we know the... Read more

Went into the Clackamas, OR store and found the ring of my dreams! The salespeople were very friendly and after looking at several other stores its clear that their jewelry is of much better quality---you can SEE the difference it doesnt look cheap at all. They may be a bit more pricy but you ALWAYS get what you pay for! The only reason why I gave it 4 stars and not 5 was because they were trying to talk me into this payment/ credit plan. No thanks, I'd rather pinch more pennies on our wedding and be able to pay cash. Overall nice experience. I would like to say this though for all of the bad reviews- most people only write a review when they are angry about something. And most who have a good experience never think about writing a review. Give them a try..I'm glad I did!

First, it's HelzbErg Diamonds....so whoever started this review probably isn't a reputable source. Second, the Pittsburgh locations are absolutey amazing....they worked together to help me. The sales associates bend over backwards and jump through hoops to make someone very particular (like myself) very happy. Their selection of loose diamonds in store and what is available through their vault is incredible. My fiance and I were very picky about the diamond and mounting I wanted, and Helzberg truly surpassed my expectations. The knowledge of their product, friendliness of empoyees, and services and guarantees are outstanding! They are owned by Warren Buffet, AN AMERICAN COMPANY, not like Kay's and Jared's who all belong to the Sterling CO. located in the UK. They also offer a military discount which truly meant alot as my fiance just came back from serving our country. I wouldn't have accepted a gorgeous ring from anywhere else!

A little pushy, a little too 'in your face', and an uppity atmosphere, but their knowledge of the diamonds and the education they give you before you make a decision is phenominal. The staff is very friendly and courteous every time, though they look like they are dressed like they are delivering you forclosure documents or something. A little intimidating. But all in all, you leave feeling like you were given full attention and the quality of the products are proven by documentation, microscopes, documents, etc. Much more than I got from any of the other stores.

4 stars and why: my engagement ring is a 2 carat solitaire, only cost $10,000. This is actually a very fair price for the stone I have, G color with no black inclusions or clouds. Very nice. That being said, I have slowly watched the quality of their jewelry go from nice to complete crap. They are now carrying gold PLATED silver! As well as cheap charms for those ugly pandora style bracelets. Even the newer engagement rings they carry are just a joke. I guess they are trying to compensate for the "economy" as it is now but imo they are tarnishing their image and good name by stocking junky jewelry.

My girl friend and I shopped around, and I did a LOT of research on the internet before we walked in to their store in Gilbert, AZ. They were wonderful! "Martina" made the whole experience exciting for us, and really went out of her way to make us feel great about the diamond ring we ended up getting. It was such a big purchase, and they did their best to educate us and let us know we made a terrific choice. Will be a life long customer! Adam

Less than a star! On, January 7, 2010 I went to pick up a package from UPS as it required my signature. When I opened the package, I realized that I had received a “diamond ring” from Helzberg Diamonds by mistake. I have never visited your website, nor had I ever purchased anything from them. I did the honest thing and I immediately call Helzberg Diamond, explaining that I had received the ring in error and would like to return it. The person I spoke to couldn’t explain to me why I had received the ring, but the invoice said I purchased it on January 4th. I was not in town that day, nor did I go on the internet on the 4th, and I never purchased anything that day, especially from Helzberg Diamonds. On January 20th, I noticed Helzberg Diamond charged my credit card for $126.49 on January 6th for this ring, which is something I never authorized.. I don’t know how they got my credit card, other than through internet fraud. They have compromised my credit card, and charged me with an a... Read more

While comparing prices at the Helzberg store at the Legends in KCKS, the salesperson started by bashing the competition, stated that I was buying like a male, mislead me regarding the certification process(this was confirmed by his diamond buyer that he referred to). His manager heard all this and did not intervene. While I was leaving I asked if a manager was available and the individual that overheard this all said he was the manager. He apologized (too late) and did not try to recover my business. We went back to Zales and purchased the same ring for $4,000 less than the Helzberg quote. They are located across the walkway. Finally he challenged my wife to look at the diamonds in the natural light, they didn't look as good-reason why, the Zales diamonds were VS1 and G --much better than the Helzberg color and clarity ratings. We also went to Ultra around the corner from Helberg. Very nice sales staff that really tried to earn our business without bashing either other store. Th... Read more

I took my husband's cross in to have the ring that holds the cross onto the knecklace sautered back together. When I returned to pick it up, I noticed that they had melted an adjacent corner of the cross. He said he would look into it. I got a call back, and all they can do is not charge me 20 for the repair. They will not fix the damage, or replace the damaged knecklace. What am I supposed to do with a melted corner on a cross? Merry Christmas to you Helzberg, Andrea, Roseville MN

I'm wondering f the poor customer service just happens to be what region you live in. Seems to me like the Midwest is doing just fine and the people are friendly and helpful and the economy is thriving. I have my dream ring and wouldn't give it up for ANYTHING!

After all the shopping around my fiancee and I did, we went to Helzberg Diamonds and I found a few rings I absolutely loved. The price seemed to good to be true, when I started asking questions about the stone, the saleswoman became distracted and no longer answered my questions. When I asked if the price was correct, she said yes. I began to look at the stone closer and noticed it wasn't a real diamond. Come to find out, they had put cubic zirconia in all of their rings and you had to buy the stone seperate, which was an additional $3000. It was VERY misleading and the salespeople never told us until we asked tons of questions. When I discovered this, I asked to look at their rings that included the stones. She handed me a 1 carat solitare princess cut, and the stone was almost brown. The price for it was $2000, INCREDIBLY overpriced. I will NEVER do business with them. Their stones are terrible, their rings are misleading and their prices are way too high for the quality.

We purchased our wedding rings through them in 2005, and over the last couple years of having them clean and polish our rings, they managed to destroy not just my wedding band but my wife’s as well. Neither of us have the same ring we did when we were married. They offered to replace the rings, but in my wife’s case, they could not, and to get her ring to look the same, we had to pay them about $500 more dollars due to their error and shabby craftsmanship. I had reported them to the BBB and the Attorney general. I had taken off my complaint with them because they offered us to take care of the rings for the rest of our lives at no cost to us, and the store manager in Bellevue told us to always come to him, and he would make us a priority as we were a valued customer, and they wanted a chance to prove themselves to us. That was a year ago. My wife and I went in on September 4th (a couple weeks ago), and the store manager is gone, and the company refuses to do anything free for us. Accor... Read more

My fiance and I had the best experience at Helzberg! We had different tastes when it came to an engagement ring and we both were a little picky so I'm glad we could deal with people who were extremely friendly and patient. They let me try on just about every ring in the store, showed me the diamonds under the gemscope, and really let me take my time in choosing one. They were not at all pushy. Two days after we put my gorgeous radiant star diamond ring on layaway, I received a beautiful card in the mail thanking me for my business. Every time I've stopped by the store to look at the ring or make a payment, they have been wonderful. Taking time out of their day to stop and talk to me and were always super friendly. Customer Service= EXCELLENT. Diamond=FLAWLESS!!!

My husband and I LOVE Helzberg!!!!!!Their customer service is great,at least the ones we've been to.When my husband deploys,he's gone sometimes when its time for our 6month check up on our rings, they're so nice to extend the date of the check up until he gets back with his ring. Of course just as long as prongs aren't bent or diamonds aren't chipped,etc..and I take VERY good care of my rings considering that my husband paid a GREAT deal amount for it..I clean and polish every2wks and it still looks like it did when I walked out the store the day I bought it!Before we got married and were lookin@ rings, most of the other jewelers rudely regarded us as if we were too young (both of us early 20s) to have the money to buy anything in the store!(Kay Jewelers,Marks&Morgan,Gordon's),until we mentioned that my husband was military.....age-discrimination I'll say!which made me walk out as soon as we walked in..I dont put up with that..My husband didn't like any of their jewelry anyways..BUT we c... I recently purchased a diamond ring from the jewler Helzberg Diamonds. The entire process was questionable from the beginning. They kept insisting that I sign up for certain promotional options and credit cards… I just wanted to buy the dang ring… But apparently the term “no strings attached” doesn’t apply to this jeweler. A few months later I had one of my friends clean the diamond, and in doing so he noticed that there were very small inclusions on the diamond, visible by the magnifying scope thing jewelers use… I immediately went to the jeweler and demanded an explanation. Conveniently for them, all of the paperwork from my transaction had been lost, as well as my records on their “online system” had been deleted. Manager say let him look into it and he never call back They then proceeded in asking me for an appraisal. I told them they never gave me one, which they responded “well you didn’t ask.”…. I don’t know about you, but that is not the most stellar “customer service.” So if y... Read more

My husband got a BEAUTIFUL engagement ring from Helzburg - I LOVE it!! But, every time we have gone in for the 6 month cleaning, etc they are rude and could care less to help us since we are not making a purchase! The people who work here have no personality. If you want to buy a ring from someone you can actually talk with, I would not recommend going to Helzburg.

Lets start by saying I am a five year veteran of this company and have worked in the business for nearly 15 years... As you notice most reviews of all retail businesses are negative ones and that is simply because the angry, bitter, hateful people with nothing better to do with their time are the ones who most often write in.. The truth behind many of these reviews I am reading and this applies in the defense of all jewelers out there is that customers just like to have someone to blame for their irresponsibility and mistreatment of their jewelry...People must think we are stupid as employees... They bring us stones with huge cracks in them, busted up gold, and snaggled chains and swear they just don't know how it happened... Well unless there is a jewelry fairy who goes around breaking peoples jewelry while it is tucked away safely in its box at night as all whining customers say, I am guessing that these people know exactly how their jewelry got broken and know that it has nothing to... I cant belive they are sell one carat Marque ring with I color and I2 clarity for 5000. this is a very low grade diamond and I found this for 3700 at gordons and jared. Most of diamond helzberg carry is I1 to I2. I visit their store in First colony mall and I start with a bad impression both ladies working are busy one at her back office and other is browsing at a laptop in middle of store. I did't get any help until i ask for it. They dont like to if you ask then a question. They hate if you are little educated in diamond. She keep trying to PUSH an Exclusive (a lie) excellent diamond for 10,000 with 18 months no interest finance Their excellent diamond (master piece) is start from 10,000 which is Si2 and I color you can find an ideal cut diamond with better color and clarity at jared for 7200. to make long story short I dont recommond the... I recently went to the Helzburg Diamond in Westland Shopping Center in Michigan and the manager's customer service was horrible. So horrible that when I kept thinking about how me and my husband were treated by this lady, she was not even the person who initially helped us with this ring. I returned to the store I asked to have my money refunded and she (the Manager)did not even want to sign the form that validates to refund the corporate check even her co-workers had the same look of disgust as I did. SHe would not even come speak to me or use the tactic called customer recovery. I will never shop there again because one older lady with brunette hair and a accent which appeared to have an indian skin complexion who was old enough to know who to talk to people an treat people. She knew she was so wrong, that she even tried to act like she was so busy helping customers that were just window shopping and eventually did not buy anything at that time which actually I went from upset to hum... I will never shop there again. I was at the Clackamas, Oregon store, and when I told them my budget, they never showed me a ring that was within $2000 of it, in fact they showed me one that was 2 & 1/2 times my budget. When they told me financing terms, I said I wasn't financing I would pay cash, they said that was great, I could finance and get a much higher priced ring. They were very pushy, and I visited their Washington Square location, and they were almost as bad. Having been through 3 malls, and quite a few independent jewelers, they also had the highest prices to boot. I will never set foot in any of their locations again.

My husband and I just went to the store at North Shore Mall (MA) for the first time last night. We were looking for my first set of pearls, and actually started out looking for another chain store that is closed for renovation. We first went to another store, and then to Helzberg. We found the woman looking after us to be very knowledgeable, helpful, and non-pushy. She explained the differences between the pearls, and treated us as valued customers even when we chose a less-pricey set than the high-end pearls. We are not really big jewelery people, but both agreed that we would be back again to that store again for anything we need in the future.

I walked in to a Helzberg Diamonds Store for the first time in Downingtown, PA. about a year ago, and loved everything about the store. I like how they clearly mark all prices in clear view for you to see, unlike most jewelery stores you have to get an associate to take the product out just so you can see the price, and be disappointed if its more expensive than you had hoped. I have never felt pushed or rushed. I get my jewelery inspected for free and cleaned every six months, and recently had a ring sent out and got it back 4 days before expected and it looked great! I am getting ready to purchase an engagement ring there in the next week. I would go to Helzberg before Kay Jewelers anyday, even if it is a little more pricy, at least you know you are getting quality. They even let you see your ring under a microscope to make sure there are no imperfections. They truly stand behind there products. I know you are going to read all the reviews like I did myself and feel a little weary, d... Read more

Poor customer relations. Bought $450 ring and after deciding to purchase ring for daughter with her standing there they informed sizing was $13. I can not believe a jewelry store would charge to size a ring that is $450. If daughter hadn't been there I'd have left it one the counter. Honestly felt used when I left. Last purchase I ever make at Helzburg's, our "hometown diamond store".

I recently visited a Helzberg Diamond Store In the Metro North Mall KC. They were very nice and outgoing, They sat us down, got us drinks and even let us look at the rings through the microscope to try and fine imperfections, even taught us about the 4c's and gave us a little lesson on cut angles. They were at no time pushy or rushing things to make a sale. It was actually a really fun time for me and my fiancee . I have been looking around for weeks now and think i have found the right store. Like most chains, service quality varies across the franchise based on staff at the individual store. My experience at the Vista Ridge store in Lewisville, TX has been very good. Appriasal by an independent jeweler has validated value, and we have had no quality probelms (and my wife is rough on jewelry) so I have no complaints.

VERY pooor quality jewelry. Customer service SUCKED! They treated us like idiots. Purchased pink sapphire ring for Christmas. It was perfect. Took it in to get sized and when I got it back 3 days later there was a chunk missing out of the stone and the ring was an odd oval shape insted of round. We took it back and they said they would give us a new ring and have it sized the next day. Went to pick it up and it was a dull, odd shaped crappy ring. They strongarmed us into taking it. @ weeks later we went to a Helzburg location. They replaced it with another perfect ring. Two weeks later the stone came loose. Took it in to get fixed, when It came back the stone was set crooked and it was dark purple insted of pink.

I wish I had accessed this site before I took a ring, that was very special to me, to be sized at the Helzburg on the east side of Indianapolis. Less than a month later one of the seven diamonds fell out and was lost. When I took it back I was treated like I was a fool to think that the sizing could have anything to do with it!Needless to say, I took it to another place to have it fixed, he also at the same time had to replace four more of the prongs. Not only has Helzburg lost my service but that of my friend that gave me the ring.We both used to shop there often but will not do so again! Carrie Harris

If I could rate this store at less than one star I would. My fiance bought my engagement ring at Helzburg Diamond. I have had it for a year and the setting broke. I took it to the store for repair, and they told me it was not on my warranty. I reluctantly agreed to pay to have it fixed. I was told I would be called when it was finished. I was never called. I went to check a week later to find that it had been done and waiting to be picked up for 5 days. I wasked why they did not contact me, and they told me that they tried to call me 4 times and my line was busy. I have call waiting so I find that very hard to believe. I looked at the ring to find a tooling mark all the way down the side of the "fixed" prong. I handed it back to the salesperson and asked what it was. She said just a tooling mark and handed it back to me. This is my engagement ring, there is no such thing as "just a tooling mark." I demanded to speak to the store manager.
