There are some hyperbolic reviews posted here, perhaps by employees themselves. Boly:Welch, based on their website and my interactions, attempt to present themselves as a very selective, elite agency. According to their website, if they don't respond to your inquiries, than you're not the right fit? In other words, be aware that we may totally ignore you. WTF? First of all, a temp agency depends on clients in order to sustain itself, why are they presenting themselves as if they're some kind of v.i.p. lounge with a dress code? What legitimate business doesn't respond to any and ALL inquiries (although in Portland, that seems to be perfectly acceptable)? Boly:Welch, despite the ridiculous name, is just a temp agency, located in a small, culturally backwards and exceedingly unsophisticated little town, and Boly:Welch's attempt to portray themselves as THE premier temp agency is laughable. From my very limited experience with tempt agencies, most of them pretty much suck, and Boly:... Read more

I had been working in the legal field sporadically, with some pretty big gaps. I wasn?t really confident of my ability to jump back into the field. At Boly Welch, I was able to do tutorials on all sorts of word processing and other programs, bringing me up to speed with what law offices are using now. My resume wasn?t working for me either. I wasn?t getting interviews on my own at all. Boly Welch made suggestions on how to improve my resume and it made a huge difference! They also gave me some great interview tips. The biggest surprise to me, after visiting other agencies, was how everybody at Boly Welch, from the front desk, through all the recruiters and support staff, are patient and kind. That's definitely not the case at agencies I've worked with in the past. Other agencies tried to sell me on a job but at Boly Welch they weren't just looking to fill a spot somewhere. I felt they wanted to find a perfect fit just for me, somewhere I would be happy. I wasn't sure about temping but ... Read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful Boly-Welch was to work with in my job search. I had rusty administrative skills and had been away from my professional field [architecture] for some time. They encouraged and coached me, gave me tutorials to beef up my Excell skills and were as excited as I was when a temporary offer came in with an engineering firm within one week. I have since been given permanent employment with this same firm, in my area of expertise, and within 5 miles of home. I recommend this company to everyone I know. They are the best!

My first experience with them was quite strained b/c they actually turned me down. That was a first, being turned down from a temp agency (and i have years of admin experience and high computer skills!). But they're pretty selective and they focus on full time job placement and their clients are pretty selective. Longevity within the same field/title is one of the biggest criteria. Since most people like me have to jump around from job to job, it doesn't seem like the most realistic way to go. However, with persistence I got an appt. for temp assignments. They're pretty nice, but not really high $ jobs like some of the other agencies.

The people at boly welch were both helpful and friendly, putting me at ease with the entire process of what i originally thought would be a temp-job search. Much more quickly than I would have expected, I was presented with the opportunity to interview for a full-time job, and even given some helpful pointers as to how to approach the interview. Perhaps this was sheer luck, as it would be totally silly to rule out the possibility that for the first time ever I was in the right place at the right time, but all possible luck aside, the people at boly welch were great~!

I had great success with this agency. Pat Welch was not only warm and helpful, but extremely knowledgeable about the local job market. Both Pat and the staff at Boly Welch are an invaluable resource. I would highly recommend that any legal professional looking for a quality job in the Portland market begin their search here.

Boly/Welch seems to be one of the better temp agencies in Portland. Good jobs for college students on summer break or people looking for general office work.
