It came on with a peaceful countryside scene, then when the narrator growled the word "DARKSIDE", the picture eerily turned dark.  There was just something about it that gave me the creeps when I was a kid.  Of course I'm much stronger than that now, but it still wouldn't be a show I would pick out to watch if they ever decided to play the reruns.

This was a good show but I liked Tales from the Crypt better. I give Tales From The Darkside a 3 star rating.

I wasn't a regular viewer, but when I did catch it...usually late at night after stumbling in from a night spent carousing with friends...I thought it was entertaining. It did follow the Twilight Zone format minus Rod Serling (unless you want to count the off-screen narrator as a Serling proxy) but with the twist endings intact. Then again, Twilight Zone, while it's justifiably revered, was never all that original-- it stole quite liberally from cheesy radio shows of the 1940's and E.C. Horror Comics. "Tales From The Darkside" was low-budget all the way, and it failed often in what it attempted, but it had its moments. I remember one episode in particular where Marcia Cross, long before "Designing Women" or "Melrose Place", played a seductive vampiress who plots with a male non-vampire to kill her vampire husband. I don't know if the series is yet available on DVD, but writing about it has made me suddenly nostalgic, so I just might check into that...("Monsters" was the other Twilight ... Read more

I loved this show and stil do. It was very scary and theme song was very scary as well. I wish this show would be released on DVD. Greatest Horror Anthology series of all time.

It may have just been me. But as a young, impressionable, elementary school kid watching this show, I remember being frightened out of my wits after watching it on late Saturday nights during the 1980s- often to the point of me leaving my bedroom lights turned on for the rest of the evening until next morning (I was THAT scared). There was just something inherently creepy (and not the least: very strange) about this show. Even the show's intro, like IgnatiusJReilly mentioned, was creepy as a haunting voice delivered it. But Tales from the Darkside did live up to its reputation as THE guilty pleasure's horror show. With its emphasis on the supernatural and the wicked, this show was THE freakshow of its time!

I liked this show. Creepy but not too scarey.

Out of all of them.....this was my favorite to watch. For me, it beat out Tales from the Crypt, Monsters, Night Gallery, The newer generations of The Twilight Zone, etc. I agree, if these were on DVD I'd get them and have a fun, nostalgic, Tales From the Darkside marathon.

This was a great one! I loved the stories. This was the forefront for Tales from the crypt. Is it out on DVD? I'd buy it up in a heartbeat!

Cheap ripoff of a wide variety of different television shows. Poorly put together and unentertaining.

I personally liked the show. Might have had something to do with the fact that when it was on there was nothing else on! Hard to believe its so old!

Really interesting television show. The show was spooky sometimes and funny other times. I also enjoyed the two different theme song which begin and end the show.

Yet another show that time hasn't been kind to but for its time it was a pretty good show.

No way, a few episodes were good, but I can't handle the campy part of it.

One of many Twilight Zone wannabees, this show's similarity with the more superior effort ended with their halfway decent ability to capture a kind of otherworldliness in their open. Beyond that it quickly lost its zip. Most of the episodes I managed to catch in its short life span were only mildly scary, usually with a failed attempt at an ending with a twist. Nice try, (buzzzz) thanks for playing.
