I like Hoegaarden because of it's unique orange-y flavor with coriander (a.k.a. cilantro). It is not a cloudy wheat beer and I think that citrus taste balances it since I am not a huge wheat beer fan. However, I like it best mixed with Lindemann's Framboise, a raspberry lambic. This combo is known as a "Dirty Hoe" and it is quite delicious because of the fruity flavor of the Framboise. It is also turns bright pink so it's a fairly "girly" drink!

I'll start by saying that I do not like beer. I think most of them all taste the same but Hoegaarden is a really nice tasting beer. I think the beer has a light flavor, which doesn't overpower all the taste in my mouth. One great thing about this beer is that you can mix if with almost any flavor of lambic, which is a beer that is usually fermented with fruits such as peaches, raspberries, cherries, or apples. The combination of Hoegaarden and a lambic is very refreshing. It also helps to cut the sweetness of the lambics.

Noveau- chic wheat beer that's now available in supermarkets. It's not a terrible product by any stretch of the imagination- but wheat beers have to do much to impress me. And this one didn't blow me away. For wheat beer fans, it's probably in the 3-4 range. . .for myself, it's a little lower.

I'm something of a wheat beer fan, and I think this stuff tastes like rat-piss. I'll stick with Widmers and Grasshopper, thanks.

I may have consumed a bad bottle. Mine had a bit of "fish oil" flavor in it. May try again sometime when I can verify the condition of the product. As for right now...no thanks.

I'm usually not a fan of wheat beers but gave Hoegaarden a try after hearing good reviews about it. I have reassured myself that I do not care for wheat beers at all. The taste is very strong, and I can definitely appreciate the flavors. However, after the initial taste I wish I were finishing off a plethora of other beers instead. I'd even prefer a simple Corona or other crappy light beer to this. Hoegaarden is certainly not the worst beer I've tasted, but its something that I'll be happy to say I've tried and don't feel the need to purchase again.

I really enjoy wheat beer.  I honestly wasn't very impressed with this.  Sad.

According to legend, one is supposed to drink the first Hoegaarden (pronounced who gar den) of the day from a hexogonal Hoegaarden glass, in three gulps.  If you fail, Thor himself will come down from on high and throw his hammer, Mjolnir, into the drinker's eye, ending his life.  Seiously, though this beer is more refreshing than Bud Light could ever dream of being.

This beer is beautiful. Should you ever find yourself at a fancy sunday brunch, please find yourself some Hoegaarden to accompany! This citrus hoppiness cut through the richness of eggs benedict in a manner that rivals any mimosa. Probably the best widely available witbier around, very highly recommend.

Great beer that brings Belgian witbier to the masses. Nicely dry and full of character. Pairs well with food and never disappoints. Cheers to Pierre Celis for resurrecting this nearly lost style.

This was an excellent wheat beer, don't worry if it's cloudy..it's supposed to be that way. Very refreshing on a hot summer day.

A fine murky wheat beer. Rapidly becoming one of my favorites. **Update** There seems to be a city-wide shortage of Hoegaarden kegs in San Francisco. This is a disaster.

Beautiful on a hot day. Best on tap. It is refrshing and quenching with a nice sweetness balanced by dry spiciness with a slight bitter hop & orange peel in the finish. Excellent brew - represents the style perfectly. Make sure the damn bartender doesn't stick a damn lemon in your glass though. It kills the head retention. lemon is reserved for crappy swill beers as a means of killing the taste.

I like it well enough. I used to really enjoy it, but now I think it tastes like perfume. Enjoyable, like most belgian beers, but to be had in small quantities.

Such a unique, fruity summer beer. The nicest, smoothest white beer I've ever had. Score another for the Belgians

This is my all-time favorite wheat beer. This is a sweet/sour beer with a little bitterness - slightly spicy, with a strong touch of coriander and a hint of orange. If you like wheat beer, give this a try.

Why isn't this great beer getting up there in the ranks of this site? I don't get it. This beer is awesome on tap. Great overall complexity and rather refreshing without making you feel bloated. Great flavour. Highly recommend.

Hoegaarden is a fine, fine beer. It seems like every other hip microbrewery out there has their own variation on the summer brew theme, but Hoegaarden is the ultimate summer-Saturday-afternoon, just-finished-mowing-the-lawn, need-something-refreshing kind of beer. Of course, this stuff is good any day of the year, but try this with an orange or lemon slice on a sweltering July afternoon and you'll know what I mean. Fans of Blue Moon Belgian White should give Hoegaarden a try and experience the real thing.

Hoegaarden is a lovely white beer that goes nicely with a slice of lemon and some ice (I kid you not) It comes in a very nice large pint glass (that I usually have to hold with both hands - darnnit) its very smooth and has a nice taste afterwards.
