Didn't much care for him. Always found his abilities to be overrated.

dan marino is the best qb of all time he has the mose records of any qb the only thing that poeple talk about when speaking of him is his lack of a superbowl ring well who gives a hell he had no team at all we had no defense and we had no running back what was he suppose to do with this he could do nothing so he played his best and just him alone almost won us a superbowl he is the number 1 quarterback ever there is no doubt in my mind if he was on a different team he would of had at least 3 rings

Dan is the best QB of all time. If you put Terrell Davis in the backfield with him, they win at least 3 rings.

Yeah, ok. A lot of physical talent but I never thought he was that bright. Seemed like he could do everything but win.

Critics will point out that Marino played 8 home games a year in Miami- not the worst place to throw a football. But he racked up great numbers in the AFC east playing in Buffalo and NewYorkJerseyJetLand and New England. . .great stats, long career, didn't win the big game but the Dolphins were famous for not giving him much help at the RB position. . .

And whoever the tard that compared warner to Marino, obviously knows Nothing about football or either never watched Marino play. The man had numerous amounts of knee surgeries...wore braces on his legs, and never complained like pussy players now and days.  Marinos best recievers ever were clearly duper and clayton...that was in the 80's. Marino took his team to the super bowl in 85, being 16-3, that should have been his ring. Never won a Superbowl?!?! Isn't this the ultimate TEAM game. Imagine  those Dolphin teams W/L records if they hadn,t had Dan's shoulders to ride on! Was and is the Best!

OVER RATED?!?!?!?! IF he had a running game his numbers would of been higher and he would have won two to three Rings!!!!Don't forget his injury to his heel! Plus Montana loved watching Dan as he mentioned in past interviews!!!I guess with no arm strength you can throw for ovew 61,000 yards and 420 td's! HE Is over rated alright!!!!!!

He never won a superbowl, but he was one hell of a QB. Did things we will never see again. Just based on his Comebacks, Talent, and just overall Statistic's Marino gets 5 Stars.

No question he is a 5-star QB. Anyone saying less or using the term "choker" is ridiculous. Whether he is the best or not, there is absolutely no question he could pass the football with the best of all-time. Best pure passer, quickest release, incredible accuracy, couldn't really scramble but had good moves inside the pocket, what more do you want? Super bowl rings are a team accomplishment. Anyone knocking Dan down for not having won one is just looking for an excuse. Trent Dilfer has one. Is he better than Dan then? Ridiculous...

Best quarterback numbers wise.  I think Marino and Montana are about tied for best quarterback of all time because if Marino played on the 49ers I think he would have won some superbowls but I also think his numbers wouldnt be so good.

well if he played well in all the playoff games, and then didn't play well in the supebowl only mean that he choked... and when you say look at his stats they mean nothing if you can't take your team and win a superbowl, in my eyes he is the biggest "choker" of all time....

Marino is in the Hall of Fame and should be. OK, no ring BUT give him the supporting cast that Montana had and there are the rings. Blame the lack of rings on the Fins ownership and front office, not on Marino. The guy was ballet on a gridiron.

Dan has no ring, no picture of him and a superbowl trophy, but still is one of the best to play the game. A quality QB is a leader on and off the team. A QB is a leader when he is involved with his community and his team. Dan Marino made a home in Miami and play his best for more than 12 years. The only other person Dan has to be mad at (other than himself) for not having another trip to the super bowl is Jim Kelly and those dam Bills that couldnt win it in 3 tries.

Did all he could with what he had and has the stats to show how good he is. Counting rings is idiotic. I guess Teddy Bruschi was a better linebacker than Dick Butkus or Lawrence Taylor ever were, he does have more rings. I guess Johnny Damon could kick Ted Williams' and Ty Cobbs' ass at baseball. I guess Robert Parish would have schooled Wilt Chaimberlain. Championships require teammates. One man alone cannot win them. Put Marino in Denver or San Francisco and I guarantee he wins championships. Can't you people see how stupid the only knock he has on him is? He went to one Super Bowl, and he didn't play his best there. Just about every other playoff game he was in was up to the standards of the greats. Take away Coach Walsh, Jerry Rice, Roger Craig, Ronnie Lott, etc. from Joe Montana and Marino wins. Now Joe was a great quarterback. Maybe the best ever. But he always had that supporting cast to really let him shine, something Marino rarely, if ever, had.

I live in Toronto and get the Bills games on TV so I've seen Marino play quite a bit. The ubiquitous quarterback, certainly in his leadership and his arm. People knock him for being so slow but to do what he did with the knowledge that he couldn't scramble away from trouble as easily as some pivots is just proof to me how good he was. Not complete, but worthy of the Hall. Plus, I'll never forget that play one year - against the Jets I think - where he faked a QB spike and lobbed an easy toss into the end zone for the score.

I think he is a little overrated and he usually choked in the big game. He never won a Super Bowl.

One of my favs. I miss this era of excellent quarterbacks. Never got the running game he needed in order to win a SuperBowl ring.

Greatest QB of the modern era...easily. The only person that may come close to his career stats is Peyton, and not if he has a lot of seasons like he is having this year. Marino not only had great seasons, he had them consistently. Favre is still 10000 yds behind Marino, and I don't see him catching him before he retires. As others have posted, Marino had no support. You can't tell me having a team around is unimportant. You can't tell me that Montana having the greatest WR in the history of football or Roger Craig on his team did not help him win Superbowls. Football is a team effort, and Marino carried his team as much as any single man could. Give him Rice, Craig, Clark, Terrell Davis, etc., and he gets the Miami Dolphins several Superbowls.

Greatest QB of all time ( so far ) But Look at Peyton Manning at this rate Peyton will beat all of Dan's Records right now all i can say is good luck Brett Farve who is close to 60,000 passing yards ( i think )

The Best QB ever. With no defense and no running back to speak of he singlehandedly kept Miami Dolphins a contender. Consider this: only one losing season (6-10 in 1988) throughout his entire 17-year spell. During that spell, Miami defense is worse than 20th EVERY YEAR in both yeards allowed and points scored (except the last two years) During that spell, not a single Miami RB gets 1000 yards a season! The best, Mark Higgs, had 920. Only once in his 17-years career, the total Dolphins running game amount to more than 1750 yards. This was 1918 in his first season. Simply put, if Marino were on 49ers, he would win 6-7 Super Bowls. If Montana, Elway, or Kelly were on these very one-dimensional Dolphin teams, they would never even have made it to the play-offs. Well, maybe with Elway once or twice.

This man, in my opinion, is the greatest QB of all time. I hear all this crap about rings but you put Marino as QB on Aikman's, Elway's or Montana's teams and he has those rings and any of those other QB's on the Dolphins they have none! Why? NO DEFENSE! The majority of Marino's career his defenses ranked in the lower to mid 20's which is ridiculous! The Big 3 in Big D were still around but after free agency broke up Jimmy's Jugernaut....NO TITLES! Montana in KC....NO TITLES! He had a higher ranked def. in KC than Marino ever had in the majority of his career and Montana couldn't get it done. Why? Teams win titles in team sports...this isn't golf and tennis, folks. Marino took Miami to the playoffs in years they probably had no business making because of HIS arm! The question is, if you take a great player off of a great team would he still remain great. Dan played with both a superbowl caliber team (Dolphins of the early eighties) and a team that probably should not have been in the playoffs at all (Dolphins after the early eighties). His productivity was greater early on but he still played at a very high level throughout the remainder of his career. It is difficult for me to say Montana or Emmitt or any very good player that plays on a Dynasty is the greatest of all time because of the fact that they are surrounded by other Hall of Famers. Dan never had that luxury and was still amazing therefore I can see why people would consider him the greatest ever.

One of you idiots said arm strength was your indicator for a good quaterback. Well Montana may not have had the best arm....BUT HE WAS A LEADER. Cool under pressure; a true leader when it mattered (like in a Super Bowl game, Marino fans).

If Dan Marino is so good then why did he lose to Cool Joe. If you are truly great you succeded no matter the circumstance. At the end of the day you just gotta count the rings. For Marino thats ZERO. You count Joe's Rings, thats four and you say Wow, thats the best quarterback EVER! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

hands down the best QB ever, considering the team he was working with. If joe montana didn't have rice and craig, hell all of the 49ers roster of the 80s and 90s; he wouldn't even compare to marino. even steve young has posted better stats then montana. I mean come on, no other QB (besides Peyton Manning) has thrown 48 TDs in a single season, let alone more then 5,000 passing yards. Give Rice to Marino and i garauntee everyones all-time favorite QB would be Marino.

GIVE ME A BREAK.....marino, threw the ball over 8,000 times, most guys that played as long as him didn't get the chance to throw that often, if he threw it 5000-6000 times you can take away alot or most of his career records.....alot of guys out there can throw deep, big deal, play the game not the endzone, play the defence not stat book.....manning has the same problem as dan, they didn't play the game, the played the scored bored, which you will get away w/ most times during the season (especially if you usual play crappy to avg teams for the most part......like marino) but come the playoff, you have defences who make you play the game! which is why marino has a losing record come the post season and his qb rating is nothing to talk about.....he had a great arm but was ok as a quarterback, once jimmy johnson stopped throwing the ball 500 times a game, you saw what marino might have been like......i once heard a guy on espn say.....if pamela anderson went out and threw the a football...
