Men really work hard to chisel out washboard abs and grow huge bulging chests. Unfortunately, by the time they reach 60, that washboard has turned into a pony keg and that bulging chest looks more like man-boobs.

I exercise three to four times a week at a gym, but not because its one of my favorite things to do.

I feel this way about weightlifting:Though I wish I looked that way.

I wouldn't really call this a pastime of mine. And can you not always find a weirdo or two in the weights section of the gym? If you're offended, I might mean you. Anyways, I started going to Body Pump, which is a class where you lift weights to music with a group and instructor. Ummmm....this, I find more tolerable. Less boring, more motivating. It's nice to finish and feel pumped in muscles that dont necessarily receive too much attention.

I never really enjoyed it until about a year ago when I started going with a friend. He's been unemployed the whole time which makes him an ideal gym partner.

I've pretty much always had to get my exercising in by playing a sport or as part of my daily routine like cycling for transportation purposes. My adolescence-era television-shortened attention span has prevented me from doing exercise for it's own sake. In fact, I find that if I'm not interested in it I can't seem to.....

I hate weight lifting! It's boring...and the only benefits about it is when you take your shirt off in the beach...other than that....I can't see why am I going to spend 2 hours a day in a gym. When I played pro basketball back in the days, this was a mandatory part of the training. I always tried (with no success) to skip the gym and stay in the basketball court improving other aspects of my game. So I have spent a large part of my life in between these ugly machines and sweaty guys looking at themselves in the mirror!!

Not sure if weight lifting can be qualified to be called my favorite pastimes. As far as I'm concerned I'm frequently doing a 100 lb weight lifting everytime I stand up.

A really good way to stay in shape. It's versatile, you can change your routine if you get stale or bored, and it's inexpensive:You can get a decent bench and some weights-especially used ones, for about what it costs for a month or two of Gym or Spa membership.(AND if you work out at home, you don't have to put up with crappy music or people who don't wipe their sweat off the equipment after using it..(yecch)!

Weight lifting can be fun as long as you're making progress and shooting for a goal. If you're plateau'd or not able to do it consistently, for me it's a real drag. About two years ago I was obsessed with benching two plates - 225 lbs - which is pretty good for me as I'm lanky. When i finally got there, after 6 months of four day a week workouts, it was great. Soon after that I lost interest and haven't lifted regularly since. I do push ups every day, and that's about it.

I still like to lift weights, but I'm not as consistant as I once was.

Lots of fun. Don't find it repetitive, and it's the best way (next to dancing!) to stay in shape.

This is how I stay in shape (along with walking/hiking). It takes will power and it's not all that fun, --and you really have to be careful because you can seriously damage yourself if you do it wrong.

Weight-lifting is fun and a great way to get in shape.

Weightlifting is challenging and it's also good for your health. If only it weren't so repetitive. I just get bored with it after a while.
