Annoying non-story that finally ended. . . . . .there was too much money on the table for the old, drunk owners to threaten a season. I sided with the players on almost every issue. . . The problem was the owners made so much money they thought they could just strangle the players - they wanted out of a previous deal they agreed to. And still after locking out the players, I got dirty looks from people when I corrected them when they brayed the nonsense of "dem players are on strike!" They didn't strike, you retard, they were locked out by their owners who didn't want to honor an (already) existing contract. The descending-into-nonsense sports media kept this one artificially alive for an annoying amount of time. It might be the worst-covered sports story since the annual Favre opera of what-team-will-I-make-beg-for-my-services-and-kill-in-the-playoffs-this-time.

A two because it was fuckin' with my money for awhile... the floodgates opened at Directv when people knew they were getting football, though. Our little two man wrecking crew cleared almost five grand in ten days after the bitch ass owners quit playing around.

Both sides will eventually strike a deal before the season begins. Too much money is at stake for both sides to let this drag on. And the reality is, they have already agreed to the basic architecture of the deal, but are simply positioning themselves for the best final agreement. I'm reminded of the 1994 MLB strike, which happened when I was a little kid. The World Series was cancelled because the owners and the players couldn't come to a labor truce. Owners wanted to institute a salary cap to spare themselves from ridiculous bidding wars, and players wanted contracts that didn't require renegotiation every year. For months, neither side would consider the other side's arguments, and the result was the cancellation of hundreds of games. When both sides got together, they did so reluctantly, and the deal that they reached was a poor one for both sides. The game of baseball, it can be fairly argued, never really recovered from that strike, much as the NHL's market reach was wea... Read more

The owners are billionaires, and the players are millionaires, do you really think they want to stop that kind of cash flow?

NFL is JL. So Bruce Timm and the Justice League locked out? It will not be easy. At some points, jokes are to be isolated, and this NFL thing can be talked by SAVs fighter jets, and batallions. No kidding.
