I bought 4 tickets on Delta from Knoxville to Anchorage, AK and return Vancouver to Knoxville 8 months before my trip. The flight were perfect for my land and cruise plans and were the most expensive tickets (>$900 pp). 2 months before the trip I get an email from Delta saying my flights have changed. My outgoing trip went from a 8 hour trip to 14 hrs and now instead of getting to alaska at 1230 pm on Tuesday I would get there at 1130 pm! On the return instead of getting home at 530pm on Wed I would get home at 10 am on Thursday (a two day overnight trip!). Of course, we had already booked a lodge and Glacier flight for the first day which we lost. Also, the flights I was switched to by Delta were originally $200 pp cheaper but the refused to refund the difference. On the return trip we had a chance to rebook on our original Vancouver-MSP-YVR flight because the cruise ship arrived early. Guess what, even though seats were available they wouldn't rebook it because it was a better class ... Read more

When flying out of Buffalo, NY to Charlotte, NC, our plane was almost 2 hours late. We knew we were going to be at risk of missing our next flight, and we kept begging to be re-routed so we wouldn't miss our flight. We were assured we wouldn't miss it. But... we did. In Charlotte, we were rudely questioned, "Well, why did you miss your flight?" as if we were out skipping rocks instead of getting on the plane. My husband told her we were on time but it was DELTA that wasn't there and ready to go. We were provided with vouchers at Embassy Suites with food vouchers too. If not, I would refuse to fly with them ever again.

If a zero star rating was possible, I would have selected it! Delta airlines is the worst airline and it just keeps getting worse. I was supposed to depart on a flight at 6 am and it was delayed by 12 hours to 6 pm. They had overbooked every flight that day by several seats and thus were unable to rebook me on a different flight. In addition, the only notification I received was an email at 4:30 am....when I was parking my car at the airport. Don't fly delta! They are totally unreliable and their customer service is terrible!

During my trip to visit my dad I took a Delta flight which stopped in the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta and then took another Delta Flight to Richmond. The trip going there went smooth but on the way back was a nightmare. Traveling the same route, I took a Delta flight to Atlanta, however the plane going there had engine problems that needed repairs which caused the plane to be significantly late. Upon arriving in Atlanta, my connecting flight had already left so I had to see a Delta representative in order to get a new ticket. The problem was that the next flight wouldn't be until 10 AM the following morning. As is customary to give someone a place to stay for the night, Delta decided to throw this practice out the window and didnt give me any compensation at all for THEIR screw ups. I was forced to stay overnight in the airport with no place to sleep. Delta sucks and Im never flying with them again.

On 1/22/11 we were having our newest family member, a kitten we named Snickers shipped to us from Utah. We paid for her to be in a climate controlled cargo & even paid an extra $70 for an expedited service called Delta Dash which should have meant she was the first thing off or on the plane. When we got to the airport, we waited, her flight came in at 8:40, they didn't bring her out to us until 9:30. (50 minutes after the plane landed) She was cold, pale, limp & unresponsive & had blood coming from her nose & mouth. My family rushed her to the emergency vet, but on the drive, she passed. The vet pronounced her DOA, she died from extreme hypothermia, she froze to death. Apparently, what we thought was a warm cargo bin, wasn't. When a plane lands, climate control is lost & she didn't stand a chance for 50 minutes in their cargo hold. If for any reason there is a holdup on the tarmac, our animals are trapped, unable to escape the extreme cold or extreme heat in the summer. Our family is d... Read more

Delta airlines is the absolute worst airlines for actually providing their customers with actual customer service. Because we booked my wifes tickets through expedia they would not even talk to us... telling both her and I oh well you should have booked through us.... The bad thing is this is the 2nd time this has happened to us with the.... Unless you pay FULL price through their web site and or pay a premium cost to actually speak to a person to get a flight you get treated like sh&t... We were spoken down to... talked to like 3rd class citizens (and I am VERY sure that I make much more than the person I was talking to, not that it matters as NO one should be spoken to like they did to us) I deal with people on a daily basis and know how people should be treated as you never really know with whom you are speaking to over a phone..... I do have the CEO's number and direct e-mail as well as their customer service manager and director. Which im posting here... Please if you have issues ... Read more

A mission group led by the high schoolers at our church felt a calling to help those in Africa. Our mission: To help those affected by HIV/AIDS in Sub- Saharan Africa. We set our goal to collect one penny for every one person infected with HIV/ AIDS. This totals a staggering 23 million pennies or $230,000. With a lot of hard work and a very generous community we were able to reach this goal and now have taken six successful mission trips to Ghana. I had the great privilege to go back and lead a mission trip to Ghana for a second time on Christmas day of last year, December 25th, 2010. Our mission trip of 13 people left Christmas Night. Through our hard work and preparation we were able to raise money to collect wound care supplies. People from the Detroit Metropolitan area were so happy to give wound care supplies that we found ourselves with more supplies than we had room for. Before all of the wound care supplies had been donated we had already purchased four medical kits that we ord... Read more

I was sneezy, achy, stuffy-nosed, and feverish when I flew Delta. I took Nyquil and I was knocked out for 5 hours as I flew across the nation from California to Virginia. Seats were comfy enough for a drugged person sleeping the whole flight. I did wake up for breakfast to ask for the $6 fruit and cheese plate. Waitress...I mean Airline Stewardess said they were out of the $6 fruit and cheese plate. Huh...whaaa..?! Ok....back to zzz Minus 1 star for running out of my desired breakfast. Overall: Seats are more comfortable than united. They still hand out free snacks like crackers, nuts, pretzels, and complimentary beverages. They now charge for sandwiches, salads, and fruit/cheese plates. 20,000 Mile high fun in the lavatory requires one strategic foot on the closed toilet and one on the sink with back against wall. You figure out who's foot goes where. Not that I would know, since I was sleeping the whole time. TIP: Nyquil is not bad to get you sorted out for a long trip.

It took Delta over 36 hours to get me from Tampa airport in Florida to Seattle... I missed a cruise ship connection and therefor missed 4 days of a 7 day cruise that was already prepaid. It cost me over $4000.00 to board the ship in Alaska for the remainder of the cruise. All that Delta says is sorry; please give us another chance. I will drive before ever getting on a Delta airlines flight again; or any of its sister companies. This is the second flight taken with Delta in 2 years, and the 1st flight was terrible. I gave them a second chance and got screwed.

We recently flew on Delta flt #2316 from Las Vegas to Detroit and were treated so respectfully and gracious. The flight attendants in first class, Jesse Zamora and Diana Mitcham were absolutely wonderful. They were fun, attentive, and most of all very professional. If I were to fly with Delta again I would hope to have these 2 people as the flight attendants. It made the flight so much more enjoyable and the time went by so quikly. Thank you very much for your graciousness. Cathy and Sharon

1 star Delta Airlines is the worst airline I have ever taken. The staff is very rude and un-helpful. I have never been treated so rudely by a customer service representative in my life. My advice, pay a bit more money on a different airline and have a better flight experience. .

This is the worst airline. If the ticket is cheap, beware that there are so many hidden fees. My girlfriend was very sick with a 101 fever and sore throat and I called hoping I could change the flight for her. Even though I offered this information, I was told that the change fee was $150 plus difference in fare, which was an additional $800. It's horrible to know that this airline didn't make any effort to help someone who is ill in assisting with the change of their flight. Instead, they saw this as a great opportunity to gouge them. Talk about preying on someone's vulnerability.

This is the most incompetent Air Line I have ever come across. I would not recommend it to anyone . . . not even to my worst enemy. First of all, there is almost always a guaranteed delay. It's not like a 10 minutes or 20 minutes delay. An hour or a few hours is the average delay. The delay is in departing one's home and in arriving to one's destination. Isn't that lovely? When you're leaving from your vacation all tired out you know you have a wonderfully long delay with the popular Delta Air Lines. My 74 year old grandma was delayed and waited for hours. Up to now I don't even know if she has arrived home yet. It's disgusting. Then my father too was delayed. So this is not a "one-time-thing". It is an actual problem. Even worse is their service. The lady who gave my grandma her boarding passes did not even give her the right ones. My grandma was very worried and stressed. This is not good for elderly people. Even worse, my grandma has a bad shoulder and the air hostess refused to hel... Read more

My daughter recently flew from Argentina to Miami with a stop in Atlanta. The arrival was delayed for 1 1/2 hours. She missed her connection which caused her to miss a scheduled meeting in Miami at which point she decided to stay in Atlanta where she was to eventually travel. Her bags went to Miami. I called to see if her bags could be returned to Atlanta and we were told we would have to pay an adjusted fare of $1400.00. The next day I called Miami and the bag was physically located in Delta baggage claim. I asked if I could pay to have the baggage sent to Atlanta to be picked up at the airport. They told me NO that they luggage in question had to be picked up by the passenger in person in Miami. I then asked if her brother could come with proof of relationship to retrieve the bag as he plans to be in Miami next week. They refused to say yes or no and again said we would have to pay the adjusted fare of $1400.00 on top of the already over $1250.00 original ticket price or that... Read more

1 star - If there was a 0 star option I would have said 0 because 1 seems to offer a glimmer of hope for Delta. Never before have I experienced or heard of such poor service. It was like I booked my flights on a Klingon bird of prey. It is pervasive in their corporate culture because I had consistantly awful customer service. Lying, cheating, disorganization, late arrivals. I had several flights where the gates changed several times but the terminal boards were not upated. I heard one of their pilots complaining that nobody told him where his plane was and it was relocated 3 times. He had to take a train several terminals away. Another time my flight was delayed 3 hours but then the plane takes off an hour ealier then estimated. Stranded outside security all night they then charged huge fees for a new flight home. All the while agents tried to find reasons why 12 of us were at fault. Even when boarding passed proved Delta was at fault. I have flown 6 times this year with Delta and thi... Read more

Delta is a nightmare! Several years ago, when I was a teenager, I flew everywhere with my guitar. This employee, however, at the Delta counter- made it his personal mission not to allow it. I had flown many many times before, even on Delta and other airlines and to other destinations, with my guitar as a carry-on. So, after I checked in for my boarding pass, I got out of his view and went on through the friendly security at this small airport. However, when I was all ready ON the plane, and in my seat, he came ON the plane to take my guitar!!!! It was his personal mission or something. I was very upset, because I didn't want it to be checked, and the stewardess actually saw me crying and asked what was wrong. I told her what had happened and she and the Delta counter man took the disagreement "to the pilot." It was so crazy, this desk man was relentless. The pilot said it was fine, and the stewardess saved my guitar. All in all, it was very humiliating, the entire plane was ... Read more

0 stars (I was forved by this programe to give the one). -5 stars is more acurate here as in I WANNA KILL YOU ASSWHOLES I have traveled the freeking world and through some 'dump' airlines in my time in Europe as Ryan and other low-budget airlines - that charge your ass off for everything you had no chance to know of, but Delta Airlines HAS BEEN THE WORST. They did not tell me about a simple check in of a bag, costs 50$ extra and my ticket was more than 400$ from NYC til San Fransisco. And they charged me 15$ for using a European Mastercard to pay for the worst nightmare travel ever. So 65$ plus the 15$ (on food) is 80$ of unexpected teft from me!!! This more than 5 hour flight was without any food - we had to buy they 7/11 like food for horrible prices. And as a born again vegan and organic food person, I suffered with some crap pasta dish - THE HORROR!! I feel RAPED. We (two couples) booked way in advance and reserved seats with Delta (TPA to BOS). We were switched to Northwest and when we arrived at the airport we had no reserved seats . They made us wait until right before boarding before assigning seats and we sat separately. They would not allow us to reserve seats for the return flight although they were available. When we got to the airport for the return. The supervisor (she sat in a chair at the desk the entire time and did nothing but complaining abut ?? to her fellow employees as they did all the work) refused again to assign seats and told us to come back up 15 minutes before boarding. We did and she then told us there were no seats available for us to sit together. After we boarded the flight, we discovered right before take off that there were plenty of seats (better than the middle seats we were assigned) available. We moved on our own and sat together. We have been die hard loyal Delta customers for many, many years- No more though... Read more

I can summarize SOME of Delta agents with three words, ho rren dous. Guys, this airline has the worst customer service team in the world, very bad attitude, huge ego(for nothing obviously), quite rude, and they have got very very bad energy(i.e. very lazy). I had an international flight yesterday with them, i had to go on a domestic flight first, and then connect through JFK. The domestic flight got delayed, and i missed my connection. I went to a USELESS representative and explained my story (I explained hundred times so she can understand), and eventually she said we can't do any thing. What in the hell is this, it is their responsibility to handle the issue and the delay is entirely their fault, and all I get is WE CANT DO ANYTHING SIR. WITHOUT EVEN A SMILE????? and on top of that, the very bad attitude was the worst part of it, as if it was my mistake. I will contact them very soon, to file this problem, but honestly speaking, i don't expect them to do any thing, same agents over... Read more

We were flying from Los Angeles to New York (JFK) on Delta flight # 2962 on May 1st. There was no blanket on my husband's seat and it was rather cold near the window. We asked flight attendants twice about it and they told us that they will look if they have an extra blanket (extra?! Shouldn't blankets be on every seat?!) None of the attendants ever came back and told us anything. At least they could come and apologize that they didn't have a blanket. Very rude! Beware. Delta tickets may only get you to your destination and not return you home. I bought a ticket through delta.com to Niamey, Niger from Colorado Springs, Colorado. The flight to Niamey was great. When I was returning home, my Delta/Air France ticket was not honored. I had to purchase a new ticket to get home. So...I my original ticket cost US$2,700 and my second ticket cost US$1692. Delta will not refund the extra ticket. So, if you are flying Delta, beware that the return portion of your ticket may not be valid. I have worked for 6 weeks, written emails and letter, made numerous phone calls and have arrived at nothing other than I am stuck with an extra US$1692 ticket.

I have tried from PHx to florida even to rome, italy no where can a flight for the least amount of miles be found, I have tried for just about everyday until Oct 22nd even if it says "low" when you pick it the total is alway at the "med" or "high" amount. You look at the seating map and the planes are empty. Their policy is there is not skymiles seats on every plane but to Rome I looked at every plane and there are no "low" seats! What a scam!!!!!! I took a flight out of JFK on March 12th, 2010 scheduled to depart at 7:35pm. It was the WORST flying experience of my life. Upon arriving at the airport at 6:20pm, I found out that my flight was delayed until 9:10. I had checked my bag in and paid for it online previously that day, but I still had to give it to a Delta representative. There was a line of about 40 people waiting for their bags to be checked. The line was moving very slowly and knowing that you have to check your bag in 45 minutes prior to your flight, I asked a representative (who had come around to the line and was asking people what times their flights were) if I needed to go to the front of the line. I explained my situation, and she told me that I should just stay in line and would be fine because my flight was now at 9:10. I was still really nervous as I've had terrible airport experiences before, so every time a representative came around to assess the line (which were 3 other representatives) I explained my... My flight was operated by Alaska, but they didn't provide the necessary information, so I was stuck walking between terminals because Delta and Alaska were in diff terminals. When I called prior to my flight, the agent didn't give me a good answer when I asked how to check in, and because they use different flight numbers it was all very confusing. If they are going to put me on another carrier's flight, systems should be synced.

Don't fly Delta Airlines! We had a direct flight from Las Vegas to Anchorage Alaska stopping in Salt Lake City just to pick up passengers and continue on, no plane change. Delta was one hour late out of Las Vegas with no weather issues. They chose to put the passengers waiting in Salt Lake City on another plane to Anchorage prior to our arrival so they would not have to pay the late fee fines to Anchorage International Airport for being late. It was cheaper for them to inconvenience the 10 passengers from Vegas rather than delay the people out of Salt Lake city. So they put us up in the Roach Coach Motel with two $7.00 breakfast and dinner vouchers with which you can buy a cup of coffee. On top of that they lied to us that "we" the passengers out of Vegas missed our connecting flight to Anchorage. They knew before we left Vegas that the passengers from Salt Lake took off "on time" because it's an hour flight from Vegas to SLC (one hour delay) If they were honest & gave us the choice I ... I remember flying on Delta a few years ago and it not being so terribly bad. When I went to go check in, they told me that it'd be $5 to check in my first piece of luggage. I was shocked. I had never been charged for my first piece of luggage before on any airline. I asked if it was over the weight limit and they said no, they charge everyone. What a way to make an extra buck, Delta. The only part I liked about it was the one friendly person I asked a question to when I got off the plane. The flight attendants were oblivious and weren't even that nice, it was such a disappointment.

Last year our first flight to Ecuador via Atlanta was canceled due to weather. The next day we arrived at the airport 3 hours early for our rescheduled flight, this time via Cincinnati. At departure time, the flight was not even at the gate. At the next gate, however, a direct flight to Atlanta was in its final boarding stages and we managed to get the last 2 seats before the door closed. They said our baggage would catch up. We barely made our connection in Atlanta as the arrival and departure gates were at opposite ends of the airport. We arrived in Quito at 2:00 am and for the next 4 days we called and e-mailed Delta for our bags. We were scheduled to leave for the Galapagos on Christmas day. When we did, our baggage was still sitting in Cincinnati. Because it was an 'adventure tour', we had prepared accordingly, bringing our own snorkeling gear, hiking boots, sandals, first aid, prescription medication, and clothing as recommended by the tour leader. Delta Airlines SUCKS!!!! They habitually change their flight times (by hours) without properly communicating to their customer. They offer no compensation or apology for the inconvenience. They charge for EVERY checked bag, unlike JetBlue. Oh & good luck getting through to customer service if you have question. Delta Air intentionally schedule flight times that seem convenient for passengers then change it to what works for their budget (they cancel & move flights often). They stink & are NOT cheaper than competitors once you include their hidden fees & the overall aggravation.

Where military and got stationed here in Hawaii. In March My husband , 2 kids and I flew from Savannah GA to Honolulu Hawaii. Our flights were timely , layovers were short and food was pretty good. The flight attendants were very very nice and that makes for a better trip. Only 2 things I was kind of annoyed with were: 1. When we flew from ATL to LAX they served a lunch menu with a limited selection which included a cheese and fruit tray and a pastrami sandwich. This was fine since it was just lunch. Well when we got on the flight from LAX to HNL they gave us a menu and said this is our dinner menu which I thought would at least have something hot on it . To our surprise it was the same menu from the flight before and we winded up eating pastrami sandwiches again for dinner ( which wasnt free by the way). 2. When we got to Hawaii after flying through like 3 timezones tired and dirty. We went to the baggage area to claim our bags , after standing there for almost a half hour we did... Read more

I hadn't flown Delta in a while, and I was pleasantly surprised by their service last week. Booking myself onto an existing itinerary so that I could join my boyfriend on a trip took a few tries on their website, but the price was close to the lowest fare available through farecast despite the fact that I wasn't shopping around. Additionally, they bumped me up to business class at no charge for one of the legs because the plane was practically full. I don't travel enough to deal with skymiles but it looks like they've merged with a bunch of airlines recently including Northwest, KLM and AirFrance, so for people who do, there are a lot more flights that qualify for their program now. They automatically checked us in 24 hours in advance and sent an email that offered links to weather and airport information about our destination. This automatic check-in was a lifesaver on our return trip since we were out of the country and access to the internet was pretty much non-existent. It took ab... Read more

Terrible airline. Took a flight from BWI to Ontario, CA. Checked in electonically the evening before; arrived 1 hour prior to departure thinking all I had to do was check my bags at the curb & proceed directly to security. Wrong thinking - no curb side check in at BWI, so I proceeded inside to use a kiosk. The line was practically out the door. I am now starting to worry about catching my flight after waiting 15 minutes, the line was going NO where, as the kiosk's were broke. 3 counter attendants for over a hundred people. I walk up to the counter & explain my flight is leaving soon & would it be possible to move up in the line & just check my baggage. I'm told to get in line behind 8 other people going to the same destination. The flight departs at 0729 - it is now 0650....One attendant was taking care of the 8 people. The first 6 people move to the counter - a family of 6 that took over 10 minutes to check in. When I made it to the counter at 0705, I'm informed that check ... Read more

we recently traveled from NY to Sanfrancisco in this airlines. the flight was on time.economy class seats were too congested. service was ok. they offered on board some peanuts and cookies not so great to refer. they had some good movies and TV channnels but they were ready to offer headset for an extra pay. which really disappointed us. the flight was not so clean. the journey was really boring and we were not enjoying a bit.

Fly Delta if - * you have excess amounts of time and like to spend it waiting at airports * you want to keep friends and family in suspense about your time and day (!) of arrival * you enjoy the challenge of being stranded in a foreign country without your luggage * you like the style & features of retro planes from the 1970s * you like having your luggage rummaged through and stuff stolen * you enjoy suffering, pain & abuse Go for it!

I flew on Delta in May 2008 from Atlanta to Washington-National and return. The curbside check-in saves a lot of time, but a fee is charged. The TSA employees at ATL should could use a PR lesson. They were rude and thought "they knew it all." However, the Delta flight boarded on time and the flight crew was very nice. The MD-88 was very clean and the flight was smooth. On the return, the check-in and security went very well at DCA. Once again, the flight was on time and boarding was smooth. However, the flight crew seemed confused when the passengers boarded. They seemed very concerned about passengers being in the correct seats, and their location within the cabin. What were they expecting? This is an airline people! They were very nice and the flight once again, was great. After we walked the long way from ATL's concourse B, our baggage was already waiting on us. Delta did a great job!

Delta is quite possibly the worst airline out there. I took a trip to London and unfortunately booked my flight through them. On my trip out there my initial flight was 2 hours late, then it sat on the runway for two hours and arrived surprisingly only 3 hours and 45 minutes late. Good thing it was only a 1 hour flight to start with. I arrived in JFK just before midnight obviously missing my flight went to the counter where I overheard a man getting a voucher for a hotel and then saw him getting repremanded for telling another person in line about it. Not a surprise then that when I made it up to the counter they basically told me tough nuggets about a place to stay, voucher for food(not that it would have mattered since all the kiosks were closed) and basically any compensation other than a ticket the next morning. I was then told by gate security that if I wanted to leave I couldn't come back until after 5 am when they would return to their post. Thus making food other than vending m... Read more

Somebody call the police...I've just been robbed. I made a reservation for my son and I to go to Columbus Ohio for his college interview. I was very excited to find a very inexpensive fare under "Deals", $149.00 round trip. Two days after I made them, my son informs me he has midterms that week. So I call Delta to change our flight to the following week expecting the usual expensive $75.00 change fee per ticket. I was absolutely astonished to learn that the change fee is now $150.00 per ticket and since that is what I paid for the tickets, I should just buy new tickets and throw those tickets and the $300.00 I just paid for them in the garbage...With the rude customer service person stating "you're tickets are worthless" So are you Delta.

    1) Never able to take flight, sat in airport 4hours then on plane 4 hours, finally got off pane 2) Bag LOST for this trip that I never was able to take. I finally received it after 11 days 3) Took no less than 30 times on phone with Delta's 800 baggage number (which is always either busy or at least a 45min wait to obtain an agent, who always claims to be a manager and that no one else can help). 4) Jewelry missing from bag when I finally received it!. Delta claims will not cover it. I would never advise anyone to fly Delta, they have terrible customer service and absolutely no system for handing problems like this.

Poor customer service, no communication. These people just don't have it together, for every six people that are horrible at their job they have one that is excellent at it, you do the math. Be safe fly anyone else but Delta airlines or you will regret it, I know I did.

If i could give them 0 stars, i would. My family and i were going skiing over christmas. We get to the airport at 5am for a 7am flight. After waiting in the Kiosk line, we were told we had to go to the kiosk assistance line because of our booked extra seat. We did so and found out that since delta had changed our flight about 6 times, my mom was booked for 2 seats, while i did not have a ticket. So we spend over an hour trying to get a ticket, and finally the attendant calls ahead to the gate and tells them to let us on the plane using an early form of the ticket that had been stored in the computer. Then on the return we get in the kiosk assistance line immediately, knowing the that kiosk would not work, only to be told that we had to wait in the kiosk line, and come back only after the kiosk didn't work. So after much arguing we did so and then, surprise, surprise, the kiosk did not work. we were grudgingly allowed in the kiosk assistance flight, and thought everything would be fine.... Read more

forced gate-checked carry ons are not bar coded. Sometimes they dont get put on flights that are already full (cargo and passenger cabins). Little information is avaiable if one of these bags gets lost...because not bar coded and easily tracked. Counter agents could advise customers that their connections are small jets and their roller carry ons will need to be gate-checked (so they have time to repack their electronics, medications, gifts, jewelry and other items not re-imbursable by airlines if lost or stolen) from the airlines' baggage system. Customers should be told about the risk to what they believe is their "carry on" bags and that they may not have complete control and access to these bags and that they do often get lost or delayed.
