I prepared myself for a two year stay in Europe and used a Penske truck to drive my stuff to the cargo terminal the day before my flight. I returned the truck in good order and paid in cash because I canceled my US credit card same day. Their employees were aware of this situation in full, we joked about my future overseas. After two years I returned to the US to find: They claimed the truck was not filled with gas (which could be proven wrong with my invoice from the gas station across their place) and charged $65 to the canceled US-Credit Card, a claim that was naturally not honored - the account was closed and they knew it. They never sent me an email about the situation, never tried to contact me, but sold $65 to a collection company and ruined my credit score. Although I even paid the wrongful charge to the collection company after my return, my credit score is still ruined and even now they refuse to repair the damage they - or their employee who filled his car on my ex... I just called penske to find out what their rates on a truck was and they told me that i had to have an excat date i explained to them theat right now was just calling around for rate he said the date matters like it was an airline, every other rental company could tell me what their rates are so I fouund them not to be a bit helpful and will use a company that i know what i can expect to pay.

Truck was late- had an appointment for 10a.m., the guy showed up at 11a.m. The worst part is yet to come though. They charged me $28.42 for 4 gallons that they supposed put in the truck, after I had already filled it up (and believe I waited until the gas pump was done filling up the truck). When I called and wanted a receipt (because gas at the moment is at $2.45 average, and they charged me about $6.22), they said thy can't give me one! The guy that received the truck assured me the truck was fine, no additional charges were due! Extremely unloyal, unprofessional, and rude personnel! Will never rent from them again!

I looked on several rating websites before deciding on a moving truck company. My husband and I moved from Washington State to Ohio so it was important to us to choose an affordable and reliable company. I am very pleased that we chose Penske and we would do it again in a heartbeat. The trucks are newer than U-Haul trucks, and in our cross-country travels we saw many more customers using Penske than U-Haul. Our 12' truck was expected to get about 10 mpg, but we consistently got 13 mpg even though it was packed to max capacity. What I liked most about Penske was they offer a AAA discount and the 12' and 16' trucks are the same price as are the 22' and 26' trucks. I suggest when renting one of these trucks to get one size above what you think will be enough, especially if they're going to be the same price. It's far less stressful to have more room than just barely enough, which is what happened to us. This is not any fault of Penske, of course. With Penske, you can change your pick-u... Read more

good price. good service. the truck was clean and fairly new, only 20k miles on it. And it was great on gas. I rented the 16' truck and the car transporter too. I was very satisfied.

AC broken, truck late and wrong size truck. The ac was broken and we had to reset it every two hours which was a nightmare - the help desk told us it happens a lot in the big trucks. Well we did not order a big truck but had to have one - the only one they had a half a day late - we could not wait another day when we had a reservation and were pressed for time. SO we had to pay extra in gas and be stressed and pressed for time. Then the A/C would quit every two hours. When we called we would have to bring in the truck for a day and lose another day which we did not have. So they gave us this ten step process because the A/C problem was common. Save yourself grief and sweat and use one of the other moving companies

Friendly staff at both pickup and dropoff locations, best prices and unlike u-haul they actually had a truck ready when we arrived.  The truck was close to new condtion with working AC and even a CD player.  It got better gas mileage than stated on the site so that was a relief also.  If they would rent trailers they'd put u-hell out of business.

I adore Penske. I've rented their trucks twice now (26 & 16 footers), and I'm an over 50 Grandma. Their trucks are never over 18 months old, are very safe, easy to drive and there is no mileage charge for one way rentals. My only problem is with Public Storage. They contract with Penske to rent and return vehicles, and their staff has always been rude and out to lunch.

Not a bad deal at all. Competitive rates, good service! My only gripe was that there were a couple of holes in the roof, that neither I nor the employee caught ( as much my fault as his). Luckily I had the full coverage insurance (which wasn't a bad deal, approximatly $80 for a multistate one way move costing approx $700).

penske truck rental did an ok job with the truck, but the directed me to moving help from moving staffers. this company shafted me. didn't stick up for me when their local mover broke my things and overcharged me. they at first told me that it was not their issue and that it was between me and the provider once i booked my move. now they won't even return my calls. very poor customer service. i am goin to charge back my card but consumers beware of moving staffers

For a rent your own truck company I think Penske does a really good job of giving you the truck you need at a much more reasonable price than people like U-Haul and Ryder. I was shopping around for a such a vehicle once and Penske was all in all about $200 less for a truck and trailer.
