After two months, I finally spoke to the owner of United States Van lines about my move. Although I did not get many straight answers, I found him to be an OK guy. I decided to accept their offer, which was really low, in lieu of continuing this stress. I need closure. Jason

United States Van Lines is a crook and a crock of SHIT! Stay away from this company , located in Margate, Florida. I wish I did. First, they will be really nice and say that they will "take care of everything", promise you anything, even the seemingly impossible, to get your job. HOWARD MELNICK, if that is his real name, was our rep- and when I realized this was going down, he just kind of laughed. What an ass! When you say- BIG HEAVY FURNITURE, make sure you YELL REALLY LOUD, because apparently, they don't hear very well. If you have a question, be prepared to be connected to the WRONG PEOPLE, wait 20-30 minutes on hold, and be "accidentally" hung-up on. They will switch things around- dates, times, crews- after you pay the deposit and tell you that YOU SIGNED the agreement, so they can. If something does go wrong, which it will, be prepared to go-it alone, or at least hope it is before 5PM, 'cuz the office is closed and everybody is going home! Company sales reps can RE... Well in Illinois, I would suggest having the driver hire the www smoothmovecrew com they are part of www laborlumpers com most cross country or over the road drivers have to hire help to load or unload in your area. An they are very reputable, they do Champaign, bloomington, effingham, peoria an many more. You can also get that same help yourself an save alot of money, maybe try abf, then hire them to load it, you'd be amazed how much you can save

At first we were SO very impressed. The loaders as well as the driver seemed so competant and very professional and friendly. We were moving from Sierra Vista, Arizona to Grovetown, Georgia. We had never used professional movers before, and had no idea what to expect. they were even sypathetic when I got word that my mother passed away, during the load. BUT, as I was leaving my Mother's funeral dinner, I got the word that the moving van had caught fire and burned up! TOTAL LOSS! Yes, this was for real. Things like this DO happen. All the hours we spent carefully packing our personal belongings were UP IN SMOKE! What is even stranger about it, there were no police or fire reports made. Three volunteer fire departments and not one of them, or the state patrol had done any kind of report. Oh yes, we did get some pictures, the insurance adjuster showed up a few days later, after most of the stuff had been cleaned out of the van. Pictures included a mostly empty van, the chasi... On November 20, 2010, United Sates Van Lines moved my household items in Pembroke Pines, FL to my new home in Kansas City, MO. I had a lot of stuff to move but the movers, Dennis and Albert managed all of the packing and loading efficiently. They kept a great attitude throughout the entire move. I have never had so much fun moving. Even with such a lighthearted atmosphere, they were surprisingly professional. They carefully handled my items as if it was their own so everything was delivered without a singe scratch. Thanks for making my move such a pleasant experience.

On November 22nd, United States Van Lines was hired to move my possessions from my home in Pinecrest, FL to my new home in Dallas, TX. When the movers Edwin and Dennis arrived at my home they were neatly uniformed and on time. After speaking to them for a few minutes I was surprised at how well mannered they were. They began working immediately taking great care to avoid damaging anything. They were careful with loading everything and transported them to my new home with relative ease. When everything was in place, they even took the time to clean up all of the packing material. I must say, thanks to them this was one of the most professional moving experiences I have ever had. Should I ever decide to move in the future, I will definitely use USVL’s moving services.

We wanted to show our appreciation for all the hard work and dedication the United States Van Lines movers brought forth during our recent move from Palm Beach, FL to New York. From the first day of the move, the guys were excellent to work with. We have fine furniture, which was our biggest concern during the relocation. Gladly, most of our furniture made it without any scratches. We did have two tables with light marks but nothing serious. Nevertheless, we don't think our move would have been the same had we had a different team of movers. Alex and his team went above and beyond, and their hard work did not go without notice or appreciation. If we ever need moving assistance, we know who to call.

Horrible!!!!!!!!!! Not on time never called to confirm delivery. could never get ahold of our coordinator. Tried to overcharge us. Broke many things. Things missing. Didn't wrap anything they were supposed to. Put boxes on our nice new leather chairs. Would not recommend or ever use again. I could go on and on about all the negatives and not one positive.

I was met with a lot of skepticism when I told my friends and family I was looking for a moving company. Everyone urged me to do my homework before deciding on a mover, so naturally, I become nervous. I decided to hire United States Van Lines because they had the most reasonable prices and their customer service representatives were the most personable over the phone. Over the course of the move, Henry, Michael and Joshua were very punctual. They knew exactly what needed to be accomplished and they wasted no time getting the work done. In the blink of an eye I would see furniture disappear, one-by-one, boxes being hauled off and the beds broken down. It didn't take me long to realize that I had nothing to worry about. When they arrived to my new home, I left the men along to unpack for just a few short hours and I was amazed to see how organized, clean, and quickly my things had been unpacked. I don't know how many positive posts they receive, but I know that people will easily complai... Read more

He said he would be there every step of the way and after they took our things ( by the way a small apartment!) He stopped talking to us. He completely changed his whole persona. I recently moved from my house in Coral Springs, FL and I had the pleasure of using the moving services of United States Van Lines. The previous movers that I used when I first moved did a terrible job of packing everything so when they were delivered I had to replace a fair amount of my stuff, so this time I was a little skeptical about the movers packing everything. I am please to say that the movers, Rafael and Dennis, that USVL sent were very helpful and made every moment feel rather lighthearted. They were very funny and didn’t seem to mind talking to me while they worked. They took very good care of my stuff carefully wrapping everything so nothing was damaged throughout the whole trip. We arrive at my place in Tampa pretty quickly and my stuff was unpacked and arranged according to my specifications. I have never laughed so hard while moving. This was truly a fun experience.

My family and I had the pleasure of doing business with United States Van Lines at the beginning of September 2010. Throughout all of our moving experiences, your company has provided us with the most outstanding relocation service. On this particular move, we had very special requirements and it involved a great deal of coordination and attention to time, and needless to say the movers handled it with no problems or issues of any kind. The excellent mover, Tom, Ryan, Mike and Osvaldo at united states van lines had a keen understanding of the critical nature of such a project. We would definitely not hesitate to use your company again. We greatly appreciate the dedication and level of service that has been provided by United States Van Lines.

U.S. Van Lines doesn't do the move, they only subcontract it. 1. I ended up having to continually deal with paying U.S.V.L., the actual subcontracted movers, etc. 2. Movers were supposed to start no later than 12 noon....arrived late and left after 1 A.M. 3. Movers drunk on duty. 4. One mover quit en-route 5. Had to assist in unloading truck 6. Was coerced into tipping movers 7. Mark Bock is a cocksucker that sounds nice until he fucks your shit up (on purpose?)towards the move date. 8. Estimates are never correct. Darren is a fucktard with respect to this. 9. Movers broke so much shit I wonder how much I'll have left intact by the time I'm done rearranging my new place 10. Movers did not assemble anything they disassembled 11. I am depressed talking about it so I will stop now Don't hire these cocksuckers for anything! You'll regret it!

I was pressed for time and had to find someone who could move some items in less than a week. Although it was completed in the time alloted i was not told everything by Mark Bock. The first item i told him i had was a tanning bed. The movers said they could not move it for liability. Also they had no room in their truck. Now I have to drive eight hours to get it out of storsge in Ohio and move it to Tennessee. Two tanks of gas also. It was not listed on the items list. My fault for being in a hurry. Mark Bocks fault for not telling me. I paid half on my credit card to get a truck set up expecting the other half to be charged when the furniture arrived. I was informed by the driver and not Mark Bock that i had to pay him when he arrived. Extra 3% on my credit card. Custormer service gave me nothing but lip service. Stay away from United Van Lines and Mark Bock. All they want is your money. The movers said they would be there on friday at 6:00. They called at 3:00 and said they woul... Read more

United States Van Lines gave me the worst move ever, the 30th move in my life (associated with US military), so I know something about moving. DO NOT USE UNITED STATES VAN LINES TO MOVE YOUR BELONGINGS! Also DO NOT USE A+ MOVERS on Andover Manor in St. Louis, MO who were subcontracted to do the actual work...the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL MOVE EVER! I paid $1300 downpayment to US Van Lines on a $4000 move, but when movers arrived, they wanted an additional $2000 beyond the $2700 I owed or they would not offload my possessions. When I called the A+ office, Tatianna said they knew nothing about the original downpayment I made to US Van Lines. Giovani and two other Slavic/Russian? speaking fellows (illegal aliens?) threw boxes up the stairs, knocked holes in the wall trying to get a sofa up the stairs when I kept telling them it would indeed fit through the downstairs door (it did), and "packed" china and dishware without paper in cheap Lowes bookboxes that kept ripping apart instead of dish... Crap Everything went well, then there was the part when the truck was supposed to arrive, then day two, now its day three. After numerous phone calls etc the agent kept assuring me it would be here today, then to stop fretting - it would be here. Now on day 3 I am moving & have a house full of furniture & no moving company. I agree with the other comments - great until they get your money. I would tell you what the agent said - but now he wont return my calls. I am now screwed. I am going to see if my credit card company can get my money back!

My experience with United States Van Lines was HORRIBLE!! They are the worst I have ever had to deal with. I was moving from Michigan to Chicago and Darren Tarr and Sean Lent were both extremely nice until I signed the contract and then began HELL!! I was supposed to move on the 29th of July and at 8pm on 28th July I am told that I won't be picked up until the 30th. Well that's fine. The driver (Best Price Moving) came in at 9 am and started bringing the furniture down. After having brought half the furniture to load he tells me that he has to go drop off some stuff in a storage and he left with half my stuff sitting on the road. I kept calling United States Van Line and after waiting 30 minutes I was connected to Sean Lent who was extremely rude and said that they promised to pick up the stuff on 30th and as long as it was before 12 am he did not care!! The driver came back at 7pm and I din't get done until 8:30pm. I was supposed to take possession of my apartment that day but thanks ... Read more

My moving experience with united states van lines was excellent and professional, especially with Mr. Dennis Lewis on board. He made all the necessary arrangements; and the job was mastered by him in every way. He paid attention to every detail and personally wrapped many of my valuable antiques. (all of which were delivered to me in Chicago, in perfect condition). When the move was delivered, Dennis oversaw each and every main detail. He was truly a professional who exhibited care and knowledge about every step of my move. I would definitely recommend united states van lines to all of my family and friends who may be moving. This was not the only moving company that was recommended to me, but I am certainly glad I chose to work with them. Richard Johnson

I wish there was an option to remove this one star, but alas I have to stick with one... terrible. The company was awful - only the company that they actually hired to do the move for us was reliable, and by that I mean eventually they showed up (at 5pm, so the truck packing wasn't done until midnight). I am embarrassed with myself for not reading reviews prior to hiring them. Fortunately my husbands' employer is paying for our move, otherwise I would have been even more livid having to hand over money to this company. Look into who they hire as a moving company and just hire them directly. SOOO not worth going through a middle man who takes the money and runs. They don't return calls and do nothing but add stress to an already stressful moving situation.

USVL is dishonest and contracts you to companies that are dishonest about the weight. We were overcharged $1269.60. First, USVL does not actually do any of the moving. They merely sell your contract to another moving company. So, "Best Price Moving" did the moving for us. USVL initially quoted us for an estimated 3000lb move. A few days later, an agent called us to say that we should really get quoted for 5000lbs ~to make sure there is room on the truck~. He assured me that we would only be charged for the actual weight and not to worry about the cost of this estimate. I see from other reviews that this is a tactic USVL uses to get you to agree to a higher binding estimate. Now for the move. I will focus only on the price. Best Price weight: 4690 lbs we weighed each item ourselves (it was just a 10x10x10 storage room with no big furniture, easy to weigh by standing with our boxes on a bathroom scale) and got: 2575 lbs!!!! When we called both USVL and Best Price, we were told ... Read more

I recently relocated from Nashville to California. I initially asked for a quote from Allied Van Lines, and found it beyond my financial means. Looking for other options, I applied for a moving quote online. Once I put in a request for a quote, I was inundated with literally dozens of phone calls and emails begging me for my business. (Once I put down my deposit, it was hard to get in touch with anyone, but that's for later.) When I first spoke to my moving consultant, Steven Vandal, he gave me a long and well-rehearsed spiel on what a great and reliable company it was, on what great customer service it had, and told me that he would be in touch with me throughout the process. Unfortunately it appears that his idea of good customer service—and the mission of the entire company—is to avoid phone calls, leave voicemails unreturned, and give no useful information whatsoever. Not knowing this in advance, I fell for it and put down a deposit. (Five minutes of Internet research on USVL, whi... Read more

We had a great experience using united van lines for our coast to coast move. They came on time, packed everything very efficiently, loaded and left in 4 and a half hours! Really nice people, very fast and hard workers. Delivery was even better. They arrived 5 days earlier, again very nice people. Gave us a check list to make sure everything is there. Nothing was missing, broken, or anything like that. They assemled everything that was disassembled like chairs, tables, ..... I was really happy with them and highly recommend and will use them again myself. One thing I know though there were a few different companies working together like humbolt and king van lines like a triangle and they did a great team work.

I'm also surprised to see such bad ratings. My moving experience couldn't have been more perfect. I received great service from the first contact through the delivery of my furniture. I paid exactly what I was quoted. I wonder if sometimes folks underestimate what they have when going over the packing inventory list over the phone for a quote. One factor in choosing US Van Lines is they could give me an exact date for pick up. Many moving companies could only offer 4 days earlier or later. If you've already given notice for your job and apartment--it simply doesn't work. I had made a phone call to see if I could move my date up--I was ready to go. I received a call from the movers with the option of moving up 3 days early which worked out great for me. The movers called giving me a 1/2 hour window of their arrival--right on time. I had already packed everything so the 3 movers had my 1 bedroom apartment packed up and ready to go in 2 hours. That was really helpful for me ... Read more

Terrible. We paid over 2000$ to have our apartment set shipped between state lines. We were giving a date of arrival for the 11th. 4 days after that, our stuff still hasn't arrived yet. I called the customer service line, was placed on hold for over 30min and it ended up being no help at all. The customer service rep, Dione, kept making up excuses as to why our stuff still hasn't arrived. Will not move with them again!!

Do not sign a contract with United States Van Lines because it doesn't mean a thing! One month ago we paid them money and signed a contract that "guaranteed" pickup over a 2 day period. Those two days went by, and we never saw a truck. Working with their customer service was horrendous. I was always put on hold for at least 15 minutes before speaking with anyone. A few times I even heard someone answer the phone and just hang up. Forget about asking to speak with a supervisor, because they're either never available or you're told they'll call you back and never do (happened 8 times). I never received a straight answer for why a truck was never assigned to us or why they were not able to tell us when they could get a truck out to us. And this was all happening days after we had planned to move. They did not fulfill their end of the contract, I was late for a job that I was starting half-way across the country, and they didn't seem to mind at all.

After getting quotes from 3 other companies the only ones that seemed to respond quickly was USVL, Howard Melnick to be exact at ext 285. Everything was going seemless till the movers were supposed to show up. They arrived 8 hours late and only had one guy to move the entire house, we were up all night it took 12 hours. He spent the first two hours on the phone with the owner of his company, subcontracted by USVL. They did not provide any of the services that had been promised by Howard. Now we have been trying to get our furniture delivered for more than a week with no luck. No one suddenly seems to know what is going on and tries to pass the buck off to someone else. Forget trying to talk to Customer Service, they keep you on hold for more than 30 to 45 minutes and don't know what the hell is going on. Let me begin by saying that I have moved 7 times within the last 5 years. Twice, I have moved out-of-state. I have used ABF several times in the past, including an out-of-state move, and have always been very pleased. They are cost efficient and they do what they say they are going to. Unfortunately, my most recent move was not so smooth. Due to a very sudden job change, I needed to move from Utah to Colorado (about 600 miles) within a week and a half. I began my research online and because ABF was all booked up, I chose to go with United Van Lines after getting several quotes. My journey with United Van Lines began nicely enough. I had a dedicated representative named Karlos who promised to be there for me every step of the way. During my first conversation with Karlos I EXPLICITLY expressed that, above all else, the most important factor was the timeliness of the pickup/delivery. You see, I had to start my new job and would be unable to accept a delivery after Tuesday. I ... Read more

A recent move from New Jersey to Maryland was far from acceptable. We worked with the sales and scheduling folks, and decided with a full coverage package to support the move. The intent was to pre-empt any problems during or post move. They were fully aware of our use of an interrium storage facility and at no time did they communicate the need to inspect any part of the load prior to our relocating it to our new residence. Our Cherry Wood entertainment center was damaged coming off the truck and the claims department has pretty much crushed the claim. (Based on our moving the materials from the storage facilty to our new home.) Only providing for a broken mirror. The entire center cost $2700 new and is no longer in production and is not even useable. The other items claimed were not even considered. This organization talks a great story, but has no follow through. AVOID UNITED VAN LINES LIKE THE PLAGUE.

No.1 Cheating company. Never ever book this company for your move We had a real bad experience with these guys. They quoted $1200 and finally we ended up paying them $2400 . They talk to you nicely in the beginning and then try to cheat you to the extreme level. Here is our moving story: We scheduled the move on 25th of Dec and had to catch flight on 26th early morning. We were to clean our apartment after the move and vacate the apartment. The move was scheduled by 10AM but the movers came around 10.30PM after making several calls. Those guys at that late night were talking all nonsense and have charged $549 extra for the things and then charged $250 for the worthless packing that they made. Then they finished the move at 1AM on the 26th. Then we had to clean the apartment, vacuum it that late night...finally we missed the flight in the morning. We had to stay in the airport for the whole day with a baby to catch the next scheduled flight. It was horribly cold that day and my baby has... Read more

They treated you very well before they "tricked" you into signing the contract--fast, polite, and chatty. Then once you signed the contract, nightmare would begin! Details: I booked my moving from "Nationwide Relocation Services premier booking agent for United States Van Lines." The guy called Brandon Garrison tricked me into a deal and overcharged me. It took me an entire month, and about 10 phone calls to get a refund. Each time, this guy Brandon told me he needed to talk to his boss about it and he would call me back or the customer service people would call me back. But I never heard back from him! I was annoyed and at the last time, I demanded to talk to his supervisor and he said "I won't put you through to my boss. You can only talk to the CS." Just so everyone is clear, United Van Lines, Atlas, Allied and other major carriers all follow same guidelines for pricing. HERE IS THE SCAM. Weight tickets. Where do they weigh the shipment? Who regulates weight tickets? The answer NO ONE. Most shipments are weighed at the truck stop on a certified scale, but you can weigh someone else's truck or hang a tire on the scale for your light weight. Heavy weight , is it before or after the driver filled his tanks with fuel and added 2 thousand pounds of weight to the shipment. You can pull a truck on the scale with the front axles of another truck on the scale with you and get whatever weight you want. The CAT scale weight ticket or any other weight ticket is a SCAM. Yes, the scale is certified, but it is only certified to whatever is on the scale. Some companies print up their own weight tickets. How can you pay based on a fake weight ticket?

This review rates United Van Lines Fry-Wagner Moving and Storage out of St. Louis (Earth City) Missouri. The move was to be local within the state of Missouri. It turned out to be the move from hell. The driver pulled one scam after another. First he tried to list exceptions to our furniture using coded symbols says the furniture was cracked, chipped, worn, stained, burned, rubbed, broken, scratched etc.. He later admited that it was an industry practice to protect themselves in the event a claim is filed against them. The furniture had none of these damages when it was picked up. We were moved by the US Government and Fry Wagner was paid a lot of money for the move and subsequent storage. They eroneously documented that the furniture was damaged and badly worn when much of it was still in showroom plastic at the time it was picked up. The crew handled the furniture very badly even dropping some pieces on the cobblestone driveway. The property was placed in storage for two years and wh... Read more

The worst... bait and switch. They gave a quote and showed up in a rented truck 2 hours late and you have to pay through the nose for packaging which they require. Then was told had to be paid in cash after arrived at new house after having given them credit card info. earlier. Don't ever ever use them, I've moved a lot and wanted to save money, it wasn't worth it.

Wow, I am surprised to see bad reviews, we had a great experience. At first I was not going to use them but my husband saw that Allied movers were having money problems and I did not want them to go out of business while we were moving. He said we should move ourselves but some of our stuff is too big and we did not know many people in our new city. We ended up paying about $400.00 more for United but at least I got my stuff delivered and nothing was broken. We used the office in Elk Grove Village, IL and they did a good job.
