People who do this are just trying to buy access in support of their personal business interests, usually to procure favorable regulatory treatment that allows them to gain the corner a certain market. This would happen right after I purchased my own island and had it renamed Lixonia, populated it with like minded people, and through a political party in which we'd all be proclaimed Lords and Ladies and request foreign aid from other governments to mitigate the political hot air gases impacting on my sun time and  to support island related research to answer such questions as, "...after three tequila body shooters, does coordination in a tropical climate result in differing response times to coherently request for a refill?"Seriously.. if a politician can blow 150 million in one month and be in debt the next while maintaining a slim lead amongst certain voters, any money I take in would be better spent teaching monkeys to carve whistles from dried lemming snot.
