Labatt Blue

I had a few the only time I was in Canada, mainly because it was the only beer sold in the cafeteria in the place I was staying. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's nothing special either. If I was in Canada I might give it three stars, but in the U.S. (or at least where I am anyway), it's priced in the same range as other imports. I might as well just get something made by Anheuser-Busch. It's of roughly the same quality, and it's cheaper.

My favorite beer by far. Its so smooth going down, specially when its ice cold! I normally drink it from the bottle, but I prefer the draft when I go out to bars. Really good for a light beer.

For a pilsner, Labatt Blue is not bad. It is generally pretty cheap I guess because it does not have to travel as far as most other imports as it comes from our neighbors to the North. I believe it has a higher alcohol content than most American light beers, but it's taste is not too strong to shy away American light beer drinkers.

Labatt Blue is a mediocre beer that is very well suited for drinking around the camp fire or while watching the big game. In Buffalo, NY, where I am from, this beer is not considered an "import" by most. In this market the beer is not priced at a premium. It cost as much as Miller, Coors, or Budweiser ($18.99 for 30 cans). Blue Light is the number one selling beer in Buffalo. With these things being said, it is a easy to drink beer that should NOT be confused with a craft beer. If Labatt was priced significantly higher than it's competitors, I would not purchase it (other than for nostalgia). Anyway the beer itself is rather light tasting with a sharp finish. It's alcohol content of 5% is on par with Budweiser and such. It is very drinkable.

One of my favorite Canadian beers. It used to be too costly here in the U.S. but Costco carries it now for about $10 per 12 pack. The only drawback is Costco keeps it at room temperature. I don't drink a lot of beer anymore but this is a good choice for barbeque time in the backyard.  As good as Becks IMO.

I'm sure the reason it is marketed in the US as an export beer is because nobody in Canada drinks it anymore.  I personally don't remember the last time I was with someone who ordered it.  Labatt's other insult to the beer drinking world however, Labatts Lite, appears to be fairly popular with teen aged girls.

Absolutely uninteresting beer. Canada produces dozens of beers better than this or it's virtually indistinguishable marketing competitor, Molson Canadian. Another vat of swill that I personally apologise to Americans for sending south.

Labatt Blue is nothing more than a Canadian version of Bud, Miller, or Coors. It is beer in name only, without any distinguishing taste. If I want a cheap beer, I am more likely to go for Miller or Bud. And if for some insane reason I insist on something Canadian, I prefer Molson.

Welcome; I am 56. and have been drinking beer since I was 12. I have seen it all. The changes. BLUE = Sucks, for a premium beer. 1) Missing Bottles. 2) Stinky beer. 3) Broken Tops. 4) etc. Pay premium price for skunk water !! Now drink "COOL" 1) $10.00 a case cheaper for a pure beer. 2) A natural beer, "NO" additives. 3) WHAT ADDITIVES ?? are added Blue !! An Old Home Brew (past) maker. -ED-

A real disappointment. I expected something better than bitter water.

This is one of the better Canadian beers...not to light or heavy.

A great tasting pilsner. Goes down really smooth and is quite refreshing.

We call this junk Diarreah beer. Really awful and misleading. Pretends to be the real Blue. Well, the real Blue is Molson Stock Ale which is a lot better than this crap. Labatts is a cheap Southern Ontario copy of Pilsner beers. The Pilsner company should take them to court.. Avoid at all costs unless, of course you want to run to the bathroom all the time!

Pretty good for Canadian beer, better than most crap. Could be better.

Just a commercial beer - little different than Molsons, Miller, Budweiser and all the rest of the big breweries. Seek out a microbrew and enjoy real beer. What's with all the semi-literate comments from the Americans. Is proper spelling a crime in the US?

Good solid pils from up north.

Good beer, nothing outstanding. Canadians vary the alcohol content more than do American breweries and, if you travel to Canada, you can get some beers that are 7% alcohol and a few that are higher. It's somewhat like drinking grappling hooks if you're not used to it , and you spend some time in the reading room the next day, if you overdo it.

A crisp and refreshing beer, with a very slightly sweet taste. Would be satisfied drinking nothing but this and Corona for the rest of my days.

For something made by canadiens, it's not too shabby.

crappy, smelly pilsener with a bad aftertaste....brand recognition is the only reason people by this beer in Canada

This is how you say Budweiser in Canadian.

It's just as bad as all the other Canadian beers. I just don't get it with folks and the Canadian beer - we have some excellent US beer (see my ratings on a few) and great beer from all over the world that is readily available here. Do yourself a favor and choose one - leave the Labatt Blue for others who have no taste and can't appreciate really good beer.

This is the best beer out of all the Canadian beers. Smooth, great taste ! I recommend it.

A very good beer of its type. Needs to be ice cold. Doesn't waste you for the next day. Very drinkable and unpretentious.

I've tried beer from Germany, beer from the US (shudder), beer from Ireland, even beer from the Middle East, and despite all the good stuff that's out there, I keep coming back to Labatt Blue. Labatt Blue has the smoothest body of any beer I've tried. The alcohol content is acceptable, there's very little after taste, and it goes well with almost any meal. The only beer that I see as better, is the king of beers, Guinness. Just an observation, but most people that don't like Blue, or Canadian beers for that matter, like beer with a similar consistency to juice. They really don't know what they're missing.

Skunk piss in a bottle. I think they bred skunks to take a leak in a bottle and put the Labatt label on it. That's the only reason I can think of for its rancid taste and smell. Keep it in Canada, PLEASE.

This is a great labatt brewed beer, but my favorite beer by labatt has to be Blue Star. Blue Star gets a 5 out of 5 in my books...so go buy some...you'll love it, 5% alcohol and it tastes sensational. Better than any U.S. beer.

For the price, it's a good pilsner. Especially when it's really, really, really cold.

I didn't realize Americans were allowed to drink this stuff? I thought it was only for Canadians. And in that case, blame Canada for the taste of it!

I'd give it a 4.5 but it's not THAT good.

$4.99 for a 12-pack in high school - great Canadien beer for a nice price. Canada is not too high in my book, but they can make a great geer - Labatt, Molson and Moosehead.
