Most blanco or silver tequilas are only 80 proof, 1800 Select Silver is 100 proof. That's 50% Alcohol by volume. Believe me, that extra 10% makes all the difference. Remember that if you are going to do shots of this stuff. 1800 goes down real smooth, so it is good for doing shots, but remember- it is 100 Proof. Drink plenty of Gatorade with it or you'll be hating Life tomorrow. If you prefer to actually taste your Alcohol, this stuff isn't bad for sipping either, has a decent, but mild, taste to it. Doesn't burn on the way down like some Tequila's do. 1800 is distilled twice and they add aged Tequila to the mixture during the process. This gives it a bit more of a sweet and tangy taste that other Tequila's lack. I don't normally go out of my way to get this stuff, but I usually enjoy it when I do drink it.

Chavalas!! It burns!!... Good!! Tequila is supposed to burn!! You "connoisseurs" need to go to tasting wine and cheese. 1800 is good shooting tequila, does the trick..Leave the hangovers and burning sensations for real tequila drinkers..Go judge chinaco and tell your guero friends what a tequila expert you are!!! Sin limon y sal, 1800 estan tequila muy firme.

1800 is very smooth, perhaps overly smooth - so smooth it could be vodka rather than tequila. Since I have compared it to vodka, I must note that the taste is weak and lacking. In summation: 1800 is well advertised but not so well made; it lacks the essence of good tequila.

OK.  I just took a 3-ounce shot of 1800 reposado.  Nothing!  The taste was strong, much stronger than Patron silver.  The effect?  I am still sitting here typing just as lucid as if I had not taken any.  I am not an avid drinker, so my tolerance is still rahter embarrasingly low - especially in comparison to most of my compatriots and colleagues who do have a tad bit more extensive history with "the spirits."Honestly, I am kind of pissed off, as I chose 1800 over Patron because I had heard so much about it being "good."  I have had less Captain Morgan's spiced rum in a mixed drink (daiquirri) and felt more of a buzz!  WTFIU?

At the opposite extreme from the bottom-barrel regular Cuervo, this tequila does not have the big "kick" of the cheaper stuff. In fact, it's smooth, almost to the point of having no flavor at all. I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than a fruit-heavy margarita.

crap....not bad in a margarita or two but if you plan on drinking much of it it will give you a bad hangover and you MUST have the salt and lime to go with it....not a very good tasting tequila to drink by itself.

Unfortunately popular by name, as with Jose Cuervo. Towards the bottom of the 100% agave tequilas, but fortunately it is at least now 100% agave, not expensive, and better than Jose Cuervo or Sauza. Too much of a 'dirty' (heavy?) taste to me. They must add caramel or something to this, or it just gets too much flavor from the barrels. I'd even recommend Cuervo Tradicional over this. People saying this is the best they've tried obviously haven't tried any premium tequila. Also adding the name 'Cuervo' is not correct. It's simply '1800'.

I've never met a tequila that I didn't like and Cuervo 1800 is the best of my experience. Very smooth and gets you drunk very quickly. You feel a buzz before the first shot even makes it down your throat.

what a horrible brand...it burns your lips, mouth, and throat. Even mixing it still burns and makes you quiver. Leaves you with a empty head, and a hangover in the morning. As this site was layed out, this is my Opinion, if you don't like it that doesn't mean it wasn't helpful, it just means you haven't seen the light yet.

I thought for years that 1800 was it. Now having tried Chinaco Anejo we dumped the 1800 in the blender. The difference doing shots it night and day. Forget the cheap stuff try Chinaco if you really want to know what smooth means.

Is this site for Cuervo employees or people born without tastebuds? Cuervo alone is responsible for tequila's bad reputation for giving people horrible hangovers and making people sick. It is THE WORST possible tequila you can drink! I drink the cheapest rail tequila before I will put that crap in my body. Real gold tequila is aged in oak barrels for years, and white tequila (my favorite) is aged in stainless steel tanks but Cuervo doesn't even bother to age the stuff...they just add caramel coloring and ship it to the stores. If everyone's first experience with tequila had been with Patron instead of Cuervo, tequila would be more popular than beer today! Go to a good tequila bar and sample the good stuff people and use the Cuervo for what it's meant for...to unclog your toilet!

Yep, I guess Cuervo is the one for tequilla; not that I can remember exactly what i get served when I'm at the point of ordering up Tequilla, though. Dont ever try tequiza beer though...very poor.

Cuervo 1800 is for people who have never had really good tequila. These are folks who sstarted drinking Poncho Villa and never got much further. It is the Michelob of Tequilas, a little bit better than Budwiser, but not like a micro brew.

Overpriced. Only acceptable if 100% agave version -- the mixto version is swill.

to be honest I dig 1800, and Cuervo GOLD... Both awesome... 1800 is a bit more flavor intense.. Great taste.. But either or is well worth the cashola..

I don't know wich brand of tequila I choosed, but to me, Tequila is tequila (don't blame me for saying that) and I only want to compliment the person who discovered the combination salt-tequila-lemon.That's the best mix together ever ! It could have been my idea !

It's the best tasting alcohol there is when it comes to tequila. It is strong, and tastes best when added with lime and salt.

This tequila is good and great in Margaritas. However, I think that it is a little overrated. It's not nearly as smooth as Patron.

For tequila, 1800 is really good. I'm not much of a tequila drinker, but this stuff is decent. It's too bad it costs so much and not everyone can afford it.

Real tequila, perfect for shots or mixed drinks. Smooth, bitter flavor in every shot. It is healthy also, and doesn't give headaches. Any party starts with Cuervo 1800 on the table!

Cuervo 1800 is my personal favorite tequila because it makes the perfect Margaritas. Cuervo 1800 has more alcohol by volume so you can be sure that just one pitcher of Cuervo Gold Margaritas will be enough to get you smashed.

This is by far the nastiest drink I ever tasted in my entire life. It's nasty, it burns, and it tastes bad to mix. I hurled many times from this. It's the worst liquid ever and should be recalled.

Very smooth is the way to describe it. Goes down very easy and I have a lot of memories of Mexico because of it. Only tequila that you can actually enjoy taking shots of. Excellent in mixed drinks.

This is the best tequila I've tasted. I don't really like tequila, it's too strong for me to drink straight and you have to have too much mixer to drown out the taste.

Great for everyday consumption. Best when served with lemon and Naci. Does wonders for nasal congestion and eye twitching, although it causes some major hangovers.

Tequila is nasty. Cuervo is the best out of all of them. It tastes bad and it's not worth the money. I would never buy it.

If you think tequila means trying to restrain your gag reflex while you desperately suck that lime, think again. This stuff can actually be sipped -- it's that good.

This is my favorite tequila, as a shot or as a drink it goes down smooth. I perfer it as a shot, but make sure the bartender chill's the shots, because warm vodka doesn't go down smooth.
