Here is another beautiful land. Australia is naturally gifted with birds, rare animals, rivers and their aligators, dingos, and good rain forests. Australia is one of the best places to find tall sky scrapers, and the opera houses are just the beauty. Australia also played a very important role internationally, and it's most admired film actors like Geoffry Rush, Eric Bana "the best actor above all with Geoffry Rush", Heath Ledger, and I also count Mel Gibson to be an Aussie, because he grew up there, as according to the wikipedia. It's also a good choice to visit, and live in Australia. Best friends also.

I would love to go to Australia...have friends that have spent some time there and they loved it. Probably a little like the US in that there is a variety of landscape and people.

Australia went down several notches in my book when the Aussies banned shotguns and voted against the republic. Also the fact dingoes are allowed to run freely tells against this state.

I've heard many great things about Australia. At some point we even considered moving there, but America is not so bad either.

A naturally beautiful country with freindly people with very similar attitudes to Brits and Canadians. Countless unbelieveable beaches and many sunny days means a good place to holiday, and some very beautiful, modern cities with surprisingly big skylines (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Cairns and Perth are the nicest). The only bad things are bitey animals, and long distances to travel between places.

Australia seems pretty cool, but with the recent outbreak of racial tension and riots in Sydney, I might pass it up. There's no language barrier and I hear the weather's hot and the beaches are great. People are fun and apparently, single Americans do really well over there. I've also heard that Australia is similar to what America was 30 years ago.

Would not mind living there at all. I was there during my navy days, intersting culture. 20 Years ago the ratio of men to woman in that country was 3-1. It made for a very male oriented society where Men hang with their "mates" and the ladies kind of do there own thing. Even at the bars I visited I noticed a lot of Male groups who were together with women but totally seperated. The women just hung with each other because the men were really ignoring them. The lady that I "spent time with" was 8 years older than me and told me "how it was" there. She explained that was the reason why aussie women were so "taken" by American men. They think we spoil and dote over our women...go figure. Women in America are oblivious to how good they have it. Nothing you probably have not already percieved if you are from here and have traveled at all.

I'd give it some thought but it would be hard to live with the threat of brown snakes going into your home (and brown snakes ARE dangerous).

I met a young lady form there while camping. She was wonderful.and made me want to go there someday.I have to say, though, that the way they treat the Natives is abominable.Of course,America is just as guilty of genocide to it's Natives.

Australia in the media and Australia in person are two very different things. Watching TV, you're made to believe Australia is full of adventurers who follow their own rules and never have a dull moment. You'd also think everyone has that cocky Steve Irwin accent, which is far from the truth. The country is very English and very quiet and boring. It's homogenously white, a culture shock to most foreigners. It's rare to see minorities, especially aborigines. The food is honestly lousy, and I'm not picky. Your lowest expectations in America will be lowered, guaranteed! All the whiners who complain about McDonald's and other food here should come to Australia. Their slogan on the Qantas tourism ads should be: "Australia-We Actually Managed To Screw Up Potato Chips". Ever had Hamburger Rings and Chicken flavored chips? You will now, and they taste nothing like it! Don't even bother ordering pizza here. I didn't get a decent hamburger here the whole time; I got dirty looks for asking for Am... Read more

Australia looks like a nice place to visit and I have heard some great things about the people. Not bad for a place that was originally made up of the scum of the U.K. One of the countries to stand with the U.S. against terrorisim.

Australia,a great nation built on mateship rather than patriotism. It boasts of every terrain in the world, and offers a wide diversity of wildlife and attractions of natural splendor. Not only does she give more aid than she receives,Australia demonstrates a high level of ethnic tolerance which should educate other nations of their ignorance and arrogance. Her defence force is at a numerical disadvantage but, very professional, she has flourished in all departments, fields and sectors of sport, buisness, and arts.Unlike some, she did not have to fight a war to win her independence.I feel as an outsider looking in this nation concentrates more on caring for it's people rather then becoming great in the eyes of the world.5 stars for a young nation that has achieved so much in so little time.

Without question, without hesitation, without any equals, Australians are the best people I've ever met anywhere during my travels. I've never been to Australia- but I can remember every single meeting with an Aussie here or overseas. . .and I have learned quite a few lessons in manners and still had a good (and rowdy) time! Open-minded, articulate, and always in the mood to have a few laughs over a few brews. . .the guys seem relaxed and the women are very interesting and sexy. Hell, I'd move at Christmas if it wasn't for (1) family, (2) the NFL, and (3) my love of participating in our democracy. But if the right job came up, I would have a hard time turning it down. . .

i am an australian and live in the state of queensland. yes, i am bias, but hey, the reason i STILL live in australia is because i love it. by the way, if you haven't been here, don't judge it!!!! the country varies in landscapes, we have great surfing off of the coast, we have snow down south in victoria, we have the dry desert in northern teritory, we have beautiful rainforests in northern queensland and my favourite....the great barrier reef, the worlds largest reef and it's off of the coast of queensland. sydney is gorgeous, go to darling harbour and circular quay, great cafes and restaurants. melbourne is awesome too, very modern in the main part of the city but still cultural in little italy and china town. there is also a levi's jeans wholesale store in melbourne, i got a pair of levi's for $40au...about $28 US. also, all of our states capital cities are situated on rivers so we make an effort to keep our country beautiful and attractive to visitors, after all, tourism is a huge... I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. All the stories you hear about sharks and crocodiles - forget it! It RARELY happens. And I stress rarely. I've heard of about 2 crocodile stories in the last 8 years. And one was a German tourist who went swimming in an area with a sign DO NOT SWIM - CROCODILE WATERS. She was even advised not to go swimming. It is the safest country on earth, and the most diverse. And fortunately, we don't have to worry about firearms anymore.

this is going to sound cheap, but other than the Bee Gees, I pretty much hate any Australian i've ever come in contact with personally, or via the media. I work in NYC in a building that houses the Australian Counselette. every day i'm stuck in elevators and i have to listen to these offspring of british prisoners say Good Day, Mate. they really say this. in the media there's Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts, Heth Ledger, and Paul Hogan, plus that bytch Steve Irwin. They annoy me. in fact, now i might add Australians to my Things I hate web list. oh, i forgot Olivia Newton John and Kylie Monogue. Jesus, are there ANY talented people in Australia? no, i wouldn't move there. unless i could legally beat a kid or push an old person around.

I visited once as a small child and ver since I've wanted to live there. Beautiful and peaceful, the cities are clean and productive. The economy is strong and they aren't bogged down/endangered by a war-mongering president. As a child with eight year old eyes, I remember everyone smiling. Not to make this sound a utopia because I'm sure it has it's share of problems. It's just some place my heart has always hankered after.

This would be my 1st choice. My Dad always said Austrailia is what the USA should have been. I'm not sure exactly about that, but Austrailia does have all the good qualities about the USA, beautiful scenery, strong economy, democratic political beliefs, but does not have the inner city decay and social problems of the USA, to a degree.

Australia is undoubtedly one of the world's best countries. I'd say this, considering I am Australian, but let's face it, we're sports-talented for a country our size, there are barely any slums, we have a strong economy, we have an illustrious war heritage, we dominate the Commonwealth Games, we did well in the Sydney Olympic Games, our beer is incredible and the new and old blend does wonders for the skyline. Enough said.

This is one of the countries I am considering moving to if George W. Bush is re-elected. It'll be tough being away from my family and friends, but oh, well, you do what you have to do. At least I'll be able to speak the language, and Australia has a lot of novel animals like koala bears and kangaroos. I don't know much about the people there but they seem to be a lot like Americans, but with quirky accents.

Absolutely and unequivocally the very best country in the world. And the reasons why.. 1. As a european colony it's only two hundred years old. We haven't totally depleted our natural resources, nor do we have cities with 300 year old slum areas. 2. We have 20 million people in a land the size of the United States or Western Europe. In the centre there are cattle stations the size of Belgium with only 10 or so people working or living on the station. In short, Australia is not crowded. At all. 3. We are the worlds most successful multicultural society. This makes for interesting food, interesting nightlife, and a fantastic fusion of influences from all over (although predominately Mediterranean/South East Asian). 4. We have a fantastic climate- Sydney is the worlds most temperate city (for all you American speakers- that is where the temperature range is extremely small). 5. We have a very active sporting culture. Although the US influence (McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell)... Read more

A fantastic place to live, even with the PC socialist media (Murdoch et al) brainwashing the people into believing anything Christian, western or based on European culture is something to be shunned embarrassed about. Pretty strange for a country that has been discribed to me as More like the US than Canada, and in many ways more free. The socialist Green party is slowly raising it's head, which means more and more anti-human legislation, except of course if you're Aboriginal. These believers in the strange notion that CO2 is pollution are spreading like a cancer, which will inevitably force industry off shore, something to remember if contemplating emmigrating. Flora and fauna are fabulous, cities are clean and safe, but be careful of locales with high Muslim populations, especially in Sydney and especially if you're female. There has been a number of pretty nasty gang rapes by Lebanese men on non-Muslim women, although the politically correct cappucino slurpers will never talk about... Read more

Uncouth dystopia, alchohloic thugs and fagots. The Women sleep around more than the men. I especialy hate the socialist-gay media, the education system, the unions, the Australian Labor party and the Civil liberties council - all of which have brainwashed much of the public to be anti-american calling them capitalist-imperialists, loud (Australians are louder) and stupid. See my Political explination under John Howard (International Polititions). One of only three countries were the men rate beer above women. Over 10% of the men are gay. Roys/Nerd/Geeks are dissed here. The animal and plant life is diffrent and worth taking a look at. American based culture (music, movies, architecture, fasion, cars, etc.), less free-speech and free-trade, high crime but safer than Holland, the US and Canada. Less racism and gang warfare than the States. Multicultural accepting colored people. Aussies (Australians) like Sport (esp. Cricket, Rugby, Ausie Rules Football, Surfing, etc.) and many are quit... Australians are much like the English. That's to be expected as links with England are very close, people migrating from England having done so in the last 150 years. Aussies think they have a wonderful sense of humour, but in fact it's a cutting, caustic hurtful humour.

Dingoes, sheep, didgeridoos, brush fires, and no one speaks real AMERICAN English. Australian rules football is kinda cool, but pales in comparison to AMERICAN football! You know, if you look at a map of Australia on its side, it looks like a profile of Adolf Hitler or Charlie Chaplin, with Arnhem Land the nose, and Cape York Peninsula the lower jaw and lip. Whoa. Too laid -back. "No worries," they say. Yeah right. They've gotta be more aggressive 'cuz it's a hard-bitten world out there. AMERICA, BAY-BEE!!!!
