I thought they already did, in effect.

Aha. I knew Exxon and Wal-Mart were keeping people in Kuala Lumpur and Indonesia poor. It isn't their corrupt and incompetent leaders, it isn't the nature of their climates, infertility of their land, the lack of modern methods nor their lack of formal education. It's KODAK keeping them poor, along with other Big American businesses. They certainly have the time to do it, and the motive. How could I have missed such an obvious conclusion? This wouldn't work because, when all is said and done, corporations are going to ask, what's in it for me? There could never be a suitable answer.

Major Corporations are creating situations that keep people poor all over the world. They probably cause more terrorism and haterd of the US than anything else. The idea that "they hate us for our Freedom" is a lot of hooey.

It is not at all possible, practical or desirable to subordinate any nation's cultural, historical and traditional values to corporate priorities.

Although this idea might sound appealing to some on the surface, the devil, as it is said, is in the details. Who might provide oversight to these corporations when legitimate charges of corruption eventually surface? How might the identity/national pride of a culture be affected? Will the citizenry play any role whatsoever in detirmining its own future? Even should a third-world nation turn itself around economically under such a plan, will it eventually grow accustomed to a role of complete dependency on foriegn sources and if so, can this be considered a good thing?

I don't think I'd ever want to vacation in a country named Vagasil...no matter how good they claim the buffet is.

Give Walmart a monopoly in the Third World so they can starve out their workforce even more? I don't think so.

A stupid Capitalist idea that would probably work. Imagine if , say ....Nike, Disney and Bank of America were allowed to take over a country like Costa Rica , or Ghana or New Guinea? Somewhat stable countries that are poor, Third World Nations that need business to jumpstart their economy. I cant imagine the amount of abuses and corruption that would take place - staggering, but at the same time these countries would probably make it all work and would be better off in the long run.
