When I was a kid, my dad used to drive us to SF to go to the Exploratorium, which was the highlight of my youth. The exhibits were educational, mind-expanding fun, but the real memory when I was very small was the Tactile Dome, in which kids in groups under a certain height got to explore their way through a maze-like structure using their sense of touch, with only a few nightlights providing illumination. The structure also involved going up and down ladders and slides in the dark ... a blast for kids on a birthday party. A great memory that surely wouldn't mean the same thing to me today, but young people should try for themselves.

When I was 10, the Exploratorium really sparked my interest in science (in conjunction with that great "Bill Nye" TV show I used to watch!). I can only vividly recall a few of the exhibits but I distinctly remember that I had a great time! My whole family went together and spent an afternoon that was so much fun that us kids hardly realized that the reason why it was so much fun was that we were learning such interesting stuff! The gift shop is really excellent, too. A science teacher's dream!

This is such a fun place to bring your children! I remember being ten, and I was so amazed by the museum, it really does make science fun! The perfect SF 'family spot'!

Do they still have that little building inside were you have to go through little roooms and up slides and down slides and you land in a room full of beans up to your waist (all done in the dark)? One of the best attractions in SF.

The Exploratorium is a great place for kids of all ages, 1-99. It is a place of learning and fun. One recomendation would be to rotate a bit more and add in special things for adults (especially 13-20). The Laserium was great, but it never changed enough. It was the same thing (especially with the toxins floating in my body at the time).

It is very good for young kids to adults in terms of getting wide knowledge about science. The materials they have are closely related to our daily life so that everybody has some sort of interests. Furthermore, the materials are a good introduction to acquire scientific learning. The expense is not too high, not too cheap. But it has a big role for SF citizens.

This is a great place to visit with your kids, because you're guaranteed to be amazed if it's your first time. From the whales to the snakes you are able to see a lot of amazing creatures. It's also very good for your time to check out the shops and hangout for awhile. It's fun for the whole family.

Everything they do, they do it well. Sometimes they have expositions on topics I'm not even interested in, but I'll go there to check because I know I'll like it. I visited recently the exhibition on women's health- great.

The SF Exploratorium is one of a kind. It is in Golden Gate Park, which also is a good attraction. The Exploratorium gives you an educational experience.

This is a great way to spend the day in San Francisco! I know because I used to work here. The Exploratorium makes science an learning fun through exhibits that are more like toys. Just make sure that you allow enough time to explore the entire place- the Exploratorium is huge!

Exploratorium is hard to get to on public transportation with small children. Still, it is one of the best attractions for families in California. It is affordable, educational, and spacious. NO ONE could go there and have a bad time. Learning there is almost done by osmosis.

What an amazing place? There is so much to say about the Exploratorium. I went there as a kid on field trips. Everyone would have the best time. It is a great learning experience. You learn so much from being able to interact with the experiments on display. There are always simple to understand explanations of what is going on in that certain experiment. You would think that this is only a place for kids but that is not true. I have gone back as an adult and I still love it. It is a whole day of entertainment, education and fun. It is a great thing to do on a rainy day.

This is a good place if you like science. When I went there were a lot of little kids running around and they seemed to really be enjoying themselves and learning a lot, too.

If you have one iota of interest in science, you'll love this place and you'll leave thinking only about science. It is interactive and hands on and the educated employees explain what goes on at the different exhibits. The Palace of Fine Arts is right around the corner which is nice to visit while you're there.

The exploratorium is an educational and enjoyable experience for the whole family. The Bubble machine is my favorite. I would reccomend spending your whole day there in order to get the whole experience.

As a child, we went to the Exploratorium for class trips. Even now as an adult I still go because it is a very nice place, and you can learn and experience a lot.

Fun for adults and kids alike. It's always changing exhibits. It is a bit on the pricey side, but worth it.

Fascinating exhibits, especially the interactive ones. Educational and fun for all ages. Parking is also a chore, but it's worth it for the view of Palace of Fine Arts. Do catch the human exhibit.

Must make tactile reservations or else I rate it a four. Adults will get bored with the tactile fairly quickly, but the children will stay amused. Outside is a nice pond and a wonderful scenic walk around the Palace of Fine Arts.

This attraction is a playgound for all ages. It teaches the young and old about the many properties of science and imagination. The tactile dome there is the best exhibit, allowing people to feel through a maze in a pitch black environment. This is a great way to spend a day.

Great learning experience for students and anyone interested in science. Hands on experiments keep students intrigued although it would be nice to see more exhibits.

Ever since I was a child, I had always wanted to go to the Exploratorium. I finally went when I was 17 yrs. old. I think that especially for young girls who do not tend to go into the sciences, this facility has the potential to inspire young minds. This is a great way to make science real to kids but most of all fun!
