PhotobucketYuri Foreman-not "Boreman"-as he's been nicknamed, rose to the occasion against the highly regarded-and inactive Daniel Santos,to win the WBA 154 lb. title;becoming the first Israeli(even though he's lived in Brooklyn for years and was born in Russia),the first Jew to win a major title since France's Fabrice Benichou won the IBF 122 lb. title in 1989-and,while studying to be a rabbi, may have set a world record denying he's crossed some sort of line in terms of being a boxer and a religious guy(which I thought was settled by Bruce Lee in'Enter The Dragon').Officially,he's 28-0,but for anybody who saw 'Fighting',he's the guy who got knocked out when he was thrown head first into a water fountain.

As a competitive sport its as tough a physical challange as you'll find and in Europe the elite of the sport are regarded as Gods who walk among men.

For most participants however it is a form of recreation and not for the weak of finances. But for me, there is no place I would rather spend my vacation than at a resort in the mountains. The bracing outdoor experience is both thrilling and fulfilling and the general culture of playing hard and partying harder is pretty irresistable, especially for a young adult.

The WildYears family will be heading to the Canadian Rockies for Christmas holidays again this year.

Natasha Richardson(Liam Neeson's wife) and Sonny Bono both died the same way. Skiing accidents. If you are not an experienced skier, please take lessons. Skiing can be dangerous. Only experienced people should ski.

It might be open season on Brady Quinn after that hit. Its crazy to me to have all these rules about protecting quarterbacks and all that to then have a quarterback make such a bad hit on a guy. What was he thinking?

Sugar Bowl Ski Resorts has nearly 90 trails on four mountain peaks and are serviced by 13 lifts, including five high-speed quads. The Crowley's off Mount Lincoln is the longest run, is three miles miles long with a 1,500-foot vertical drop. If you’re looking for steep, go for The Palisades. If you want to ski a piece of history, head over to Silver Belt, a long, almost half-pipe shaped run that demands a series of short-radius turns.

Experienced skiers looking for something off-the-beaten-track can sign up for a guided backcountry tour and enjoy a near-guarantee of untracked snow glistening under a bluebird sky. It was a amazing way to cap off a day at sweet Sugar Bowl. If you want to know more, check out the article I found http://skiresorts.com/content/sugar-bowl lots of useful information.

I like his calmness and he has a great voice. Love the line "looking to give this field the slip." Had never heard that before in a horse race. Very clear, concise, and accurate. Excellent horse race announcer for Ag Park in Columbus, NE. "And away they go!"

I'm the first person to admit I'm not objective when it comes to Floyd Mayweather Jr.;I don't like the guy,I think he's bad for boxing(obviously he sells tickets;but compare his behavior to say...Manny Pacquiao)-and I think he's highly overrated.Arturo Gatti should've retired-particularly after his three fight nuclear war with Irish Mickey Ward;he either committed suicide or was murdered by his wife earlier this year.

Dimitriy Salita is boxing's most religiously observant Jewish boxer, which limits his schedule;he won the 2000 US national amateur tournament, when the finals were rescheduled not to conflict with the Jewish Sabbath. As a pro,he's currently 18-0 against carefully selected competition, including 1 appearance on HBO,which he won with a big punch. He hasn't fought in several months(as of 8-22-04) and his website is loaded with messages speculating why-there is still a lot of time that wouldn't be a religious violation. One reason why, might be the upcoming movie about his life. Salita is supposed to be played by Eminem, who is being trained by Emmanuel Steward for the role,in a Disney movie to be titled Golden Boy.Is it possible that the producers never heard of the classic boxing movie...or Oscar Dela Hoya?...AND ANOTHER REASON TO CLOSE THE UNITED NATIONS...Salita is scheduled to fight Amir Khan December 5,in what is likely the first world title fight ever between a Jew and a Muslim-and dig how they behave(there have been three Jewish world champs for Arab countries-Robert Cohen and Alphonse Halimi from Algeria and Victor 'Young'Perez from Tunisia-apparently the subject of an upcoming boxing Holocaust movie).

Most intrusive, bull headed pieces of crap in the NBA. With the garbage officials we have in the NBA, this guy is by far the worst! Bring back the scab refs. At least they did not decide the outcome of NBA games to their personal liking. Steve Javie needs to be fired. He has been in the league for 21 seasons too many!!!

I watched the Rucker Park classic this past summer - an outdoor all star game played in Harlem featuring the best high school players in the country.

There were a lot of studs on the court, but two stood head and shoulders above the rest - John Wall and Lance Stephenson. Both these guys could likely start on most NBA squads right now.

I expect Wall (together with co-frosh Bledsoe), to provide lots of thrills at Kentucky this year.

I saw a list of heroes that got screwed out of their rightful glory in some magazine and he was on it. I think he got the shaft in regards to his medals.

Had his Olympic medals stripped from him because he had played a few semi-pro baseball games. While under the Olympic rules of the time, its hard to take issue with that decision, (although its worth noting that the IOC ignored its own rules regarding timeframe for challenges of amateur eligiblilty) it's extremely hard to say that Thorpe, who was a dedicated athlete and a pretty decent man, dishonored anything.

Thorpe is often considered, with considerable justification to be the greatest athlete of the first half of the 20th century and high in the running for the best of the entire hundred years. He was treated shamefully at times, but there is no evidence that he responded in kind.
