This is the first game app I paid for and I did it because the lite version sucked me in. The full version is $0.99 so I decided to get it.

The basics of the game is that you have a tower to protect using your warriors you send to the battle field to fight against the bad (they are bad and ugly) warriors that come from the enemy's tower. You pass a level when your warriors reach the enemy's tower and destroy it. And that 's it, level after level, nothing changes (only the ugly guys, they are more difficult to kill)

When you play a couple of times, the game becomes boring and repetitive, and the only incentive is to upgrade your warriors using the gold that you receive when killing the ugly guys.

After playing 3 times (for long periods) I am starting to hate the game. When I played the first time I loved it so that is why I am giving it 3 stars.

I'm not sure if reaching more levels the game will change or improve, I will let you know if I have free time to play this app again.

Copying Lena, I am adding a video of the game:

Well, what can I say? The Motorola DROID is such an awesome phone - so awesome, that it took me away from being here on RATEITALL.com because I was so busy enjoying it.

As I could hear my mother's voice as a child say "A phone is not a toy," I had to laugh as I continued playing with my new phone all giddy with glee.

The Motorola DROID kicks the crap outta the iPhone and actually has the backing of the Verizon network - so after you're all done playing with the lightsaber, the 'mood ring-esque' touch reader, lots of music, videos, movies, your fortune cookie for the day and using all the coupons, guess what? You can actually make a phone call, check your email and do everything you want to do! What a concept! (Take that AT&T!) Unlike what AT&T says, you can actually talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time! What a multi-tasker!

What's nice about the Motorola DROID is that it features the best of both worlds for texters - the slide-out keyboard (for those who are addicted to their LG EnV2 phones. It has a touch screen for all the iPhone converts and is combines the functionality of a Blackberry (business) and iPhone (toy/fun) all-in-one.

You know -if this phone were hair, it would be a MULLET - business in the front, party in the back.

This phone has 16 gigs memory - and has a 5 megapixel camera. It shoots video, it can scan your gym or grocery membership barcode cards and so much more. It has a navigator (that doesn't cost extra) - voice activated (you can feel like James Bond!)

And at the end of the day, with all the business and play, you can actually talk to someone... pretty amazing!!

Hook Champ is a charmingly low-res platformer iPhone game where you use a grappling hook to navigate dank, dark caves collecting coins and saving pixelated relics. The relics have been cursed, and so as you swing around each level, you're followed by a black blobby creature that rawrs (it's really more of a rawr than a roar) and eventually eats you if you go too slowly.

The coins allow you to buy powerups and weapons...which come in handy as the levels get pretty damn hard after a while.

Gameplay is incredibly satisfying, and the NUI was well thought out. Controls are simple and intuitive, and the game is a lot of fun. My one complaint is that they play quick intro sequences each and every time you retry a level....It would be better if they skipped the few text blocks if you've played the level before.

Regardless of that minor complaint, this is one of the best games I've found on the iPhone yet! Major props to the developer for creating a fun and innovative game.

Here's the trailer so you can get a taste of the quirky, low-res graphics and the blobby monster :)

Sounds interesting but I'm working on one that should out do it. You pick an entry from your contact list, their face pops up on the screen, you touch the screen and the bell at the church they attend rings out, wherever it is. I'm gonna call it 'Face Rings a Bell'.

Learn that Name! is an app that tries to help you to place a name with a face. It sucks in your LinkedIn contacts and quizzes you on the faces and employers of people in your network.

It's fun. For about five minutes.

What I've found is that I either know the person in my network, or I don't. There are just not so many hazy in betweens that this app can help with.

Chose this TV for it's aesthetics about a year ago, this was also my first LCD TV purchase. Sounds great and the Image is very good, much better than a lot of the other TVs I compared against at Best Buy.

Setup: Has been used with Dish Network, HD Cable, HDTV signal, a PS2, various VCR/DVDs

Major CON: I don't know if this is true of this Sony line, all Sony TVs, or just this particular one but the remote is SLOW, annoyingly slow to warm up. For some reason the power button on the remote works fine but the volume, input, and channel change take about 5 minutes to "warm up". If you're TV is going to be mounted up high where you can't reach the volume buttons manually then you're in for some frustration.

Minor CON: Sometimes when not in use it makes a high pitch buzz, it's not noticeable most of the time, and probably do to static build-up or something. Also, the HDTV channel scan needs an external antenna (won't work without it), luckily any old rabbit ear one will do.

PROS: Just the right amount of options and pre-set settings, image is great, the HD is awesome, it's built-in speakers sound great (provided you don't crank up the volume too high).

I love this TV but I give it 3-stars because of the issues with the remote signals.

NOTE: I also have a Universal Remote that I use, and it too has the same problem where it's slow to "warm-up", it's a TV issue, and not the actual remote.

I saw this cute little game while browsing through the iTunes app store and I thought it would be perfect for my little one. She really enjoys helping me in the kitchen, but I obviously can't let her do TOO much. I thought maybe she could learn a little bit about cooking and keep herself busy while I'm making the family's dinner, so I picked up this app for her.

The game is pretty straight forward. The player is given a choice of several meals to make (salads, sandwiches, ice cream, etc.) and then they have a large selection of ingredients to put into the meal – some of which make for
a tasty meal, some of which don’t. After they are done mixing their ingredients, a little girl food critic tastes the meal and gives her reaction.

What I really enjoyed, and what I believe kept my daughter coming back for more, were the very crisp visuals and sounds. The little critic is not only funny, but her voice is recorded in very high quality. A lot of the other iPhone apps we play can be a bit lacking in this department. Also, there a lot of different responses to be heard from the critic. My daughter really wants to get to hear all of the different reactions for all of the different meals. The game is not incredibly deep but it does seem to be providing her with a good amount of replay value.

Overall, I have nothing bad to say about this game. The content is ok for all children and the game is very funny and proved to be a surprisingly nice learning tool for my child. For the price I paid (99 cents) I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Little Cook and I definitely recommend it to any parents who may be looking for a nice and inexpensive way to keep your child occupied and keep them learning applicable knowledge.

I first tried this app at version 1.0 and thought they were biting off a lot, maybe too much, for a single iPhone app. Version 2.0 is available now and it is a lot more functional, and you can use it as a remote control for your TiVo and/or Netflix account.

What this app tries to do is ambitious. I'm not sure I could describe it completely, but here's what I use it for. After picking what cable TV provider I'm using, i.TV downloaded the channels I receive, and it shows you what's on. By that I mean it actually shows you image thumbnails of the programming, not just the name of the show.

Then you can tap the show and if it's on now, it will control the TiVo through your home network. This is pretty cool because it's like having another remote, but one that works from anywhere in the house. If the show isn't on yet, it will connect to the Tivo web service and schedule the recording with the device.

The app also acts like a Netflix client, so you can view your queue, pick DVDs to rent, search for movies, stream movies instantly through your TiVo, etc.

The app also acts like an iTunes music store remote, but I haven't played with that part yet.

Again, it's an ambitious app, and probably a little more complicated than most people would expect to work well as an iPhone app, but the fact that the Tivo remote part works so well has earned it a place on my phone.

It's a great app for the mobile office. If there is enough light to take the picture it's even better than my fax at home!

one of my sales guys decided to leave his Treo in the woods of Maine. Verizon doesnt really carry the Treo anymore so i was in a bind to get him a new smartphone. I went with the Droid because like many of you, i have been sucked in by the Borg.. i mean google.

The first thing i noticed is that the phone seems heavy, heavy in the way that it feels metal and not cheap. the red eye flashes at you at boot up and it yells DROID at you in a robot voice. that made me laugh until however i found out that the DROID yell is also the default you have new email ring. "hey why is the phone yelling droid over and over from my office? Oh thats because the email account i synced with it has 15 new emails in the inbox."

setting up email syncing would have been really really easy if i was syncing a gmail account, but i wasnt. i was syning exchange and i had been using the verizon wireless sync push app on my desktop to sync the 10 other treos i have. the droid only syncs exchange via active sync which is fine but not the easiest thing to set up and get working right in exchange 2003. once i got that working all the contact, calenders and email pushed right to the phone and i was rocking.

the calender app, email app and contact area are all laid out nice and easy to use.

the camera app worked well but seemed slow in taking pictures. the fact that it can focus and has a flash could be the issue as i'm used to the iphone camera and quick shooting.

maps app worked well and street view is nice

i'll try to update after he's been using the phone for a while.

If you're looking for a full-featured twitter client for the iPhone, Tweetdeck will fill that need perfectly. If you use Tweetdeck on the desktop, it integrates seamlessly, pulling the search and groups columns in from one place to the other impressively well.

Unfortunately, all these great features that means its initial load time is eternal. I'm not kidding...forget about it on edge, and low-bar-count 3g.

I never have much cause to peruse tweets while I'm out and about...I only launch this app to send a reply to someone (I get notified by the Boxcar application whenever I get a DM or @reply, which saves me many texts a month). Unfortunately since it takes so long to load, I find myself cursing tweetdeck and canceling the load in favor of texting my reply anyway.

Tweetdeck is an amazing desktop app, but way too feature-rich to serve my needs on the iPhone. I'll be looking for something lighter-weight.

It has a few problems in its execution, but the idea behind the Musée du Louvre iPhone app is pretty amazing. It contains digitized versions of artwork from the collection, complete with technical notes, descriptions and detail views that rival an art history textbook.

The browse method looks like Coverflow (a la iTunes), but unfortunately it doesn't feel like Coverflow. you can't swipe through a lot of pieces at once, it's really more of a slightly broken feeling tap-to-view-next interface. Coverflow would actually be an elegant way to peruse this collection, and I hope they tweak the interface to be more like it in the future. Another issue with this part of the interface and with the art in general is that they've done some strange croppings on almost every piece of art in the browse section, and the resolution is a bit lower than it should be overall. The colors seem a little washed out, so viewing the Louvre's amazing collection is slightly dissatisfying.

That said, the information is amazing, and the fact that this is a free app impresses me. Of course it can't hold a candle to seeing these masterpieces in person, but you can explore one of the greatest museum collections in the world whenever you want. It also seems to double as a navigation app if you're ever lucky enough to visit the Louvre for real.

I ordered their NFL service so I could listen to the NFL games online (10/25) and I was not able to access the games whatsoever. I tried with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari browsers. I filed a "ticket"/request for help and never heard back from them. I emailed them again saying that I wanted to cancel the service since I couldn't access it and because no one responded to my request for help. They finally responded on 10/29 and wanted my username...what?! They should be able to look that up by using my name or email address I would think? Anyway, today is 11/11 and I still haven't gotten my refund.

Such poor customer service in a time when it is the only thing holding some companies above water!!

Mark me as very dissatisfied!!

Review Icon Lena reviewed ROCK BAND in iPhone Games:
Although I think it has the potential to be much better than Tap Tap Revenge, the prevailing iPhone rhythm game, MAJOR word of warning on Rock Band for the iPhone. It's virtually unplayable on the 3G. I assume it has been optimized for the touch, possibly fine on the 3GS, but this game is laggy as hell on my phone, and every single data call for things like email will grind everything to a halt making it impossible to play. I'd advise not purchasing the rather expensive game until they expressly fix this issue.

Beyond that, when it is playable: Rock Band for the iPhone is kind of fun. The vocals part is useless (the controls are sideways and awkward to use, they may as well have left it out), but the others are pretty good. This game bass, guitar, drums and the aformentioned vox.

There are a few usability issues: The hit-range of each note seems a little confined for a touch device, and the control scheme is a bit tiny (and I have small fingers, so it must be worse for most people), but the music is recognizable (unlike Tap Tap Revenge's muzak-esque shit) which is a plus. Also, the medium level is too easy, but hard is too challenging. I guess it's really NOT that good, but I see some potential, particularly in the guitar parts where you use more swipe than tap.

Some day, perhaps one of these music game publishers may actually use an iPhone for the first time and perhaps then they'll realize that there are infinite other control schemes that suit their game styles to try besides this tapping shit. Until then, I'm probably done buying rhythm games on the iPhone.

This game is a well-executed time waster with somewhat deceptive objectives. It masquerades as a free app complete with a cute puppy to play with, but there's actually no way to avoid eventually paying money without killing your dog (okay I'm being dramatic, it probably won't actually die...but it will run out of food and presumably starve and act generally pathetic....I'll report back later when I find out).

You begin the game by adopting a dog and promising to take care of it (I'm not kidding...it contains those same guilt-laiden words). You're given some food, currency, toys and grooming supplies. The tutorial is pretty good, and throughout it seems like you'll be able to mess with a digital puppy all you want. I expected it was a bit like those vampire and mobster games...some people will pay to advance more quickly, and the rest will play for free. Instead, they're taking a far more aggressive strategy: you can't actually buy food for the dog with the standard currency that you earn by taking care of your pet. You can buy everything from clothes (seriously) to toys to books (these pups have a career mode) to treats, but no sustenance without a credit card.

Anyhow...I probably sound more bitter than I actually am, but if they release a pony version I'll be pissed.
