It seems that the majority of people outside of Fresno, and many inside Fresno, think it sucks. I actually kind of dig it though, and here's why. The people are pretty cool. You just aren't going to find a lot of pretentious folks in Fresno, or much of the Central Valley for that matter. People here are pretty split down the middle politically, which makes it a very right-wing town compared to places I've lived in the state, LA and SF. I find that kind of refreshing, which is a word you don't often here in the same sentence as Fresno. I like that there isn't much traffic, there's lots of sun, and it's really an under-rated sports town with two minor league baseball teams (AAA Fresno and A Visalia). You'll find that a lot of professional athletes come out of Fresno; with great sports programs in schools, and not much else to do, this place creates some elite athletes, particularly baseball and football. A few other things I like - you'll find plenty of really nice, affordable homes here. Some are downright beautiful. You're also close to Yosemite and the Sequoias, and you're basically right in the middle of Los Angeles and San Francisco. All in all I'm not saying I would live in Fresno, but I could.

I was going to give ole Providence a 3 but I'm so in awe of the doozy of a review by missthesouth that I added a star. Honestly she lost me at the "no one here watches or cares about college sports" because that is a flat-out misnomer. My brother in law is the biggest college hoops fan I know and he has just renewed his Friars season tickets through the 2021 season. You know, Providence is a pretty nice small city. They have this river running through the middle of downtown and in the summer they have waterfire, which is a pretty cool event that has people flocking to downtown in the evenings. Like a lot of northern cities, people love to be outside when the weather is good, and a summer night in Providence is as good as any city. There is some terrific Italian food up on the west hill, which is Federal Hill, and across downtown on the other hill you have Brown University. In between is the Mayor's office where Buddy Cianti ran the show for so long and if you have heard of him you are probably aware of his colored past which blended politics with organized crime which spanned decades and included a prison sentence for assault, money laundering and racketeering...in the middle!

Excellent all round facilities, service, consideration and politeness. Must say something about the comfort of the airline. The crew were wonderful. The service is excellent and the seats are more than comfy. It is one of the places I go to search flights now, they have best deals.

https://jetradar.com/?marker=15048 is the only place I go to search flights now, after consistently finding them to find the best deals. They don't 'promote' any particular airline, but are totally transparent, plus they include the extra fees and taxes that you know you have to pay but many other 'comparison' sites leave off. This is helpful, as you can make a fair assessment of which is the best price.

Great view of the city, not a lot of tourists, so a great place for a break from the hectic world that Athens can be. It's a relatively short walk, or even shorter drive from the city.

Good, not great, but good. The attractions, other than the museum and the temple of Hephaestus, are few and far between if you're not a history buff, but what is there is great to behold. In all honesty it's worth it just to see the temple of Hephaestus. There aren't many buildings in the area, or the country really, that have survived the ages still in tact. This is partly due to it's conversion into a church, so don't expect too much on the interior. However, if you've ever wondered what the temples would have been like in their glory days, it's well worth seeing.

Angkor Wat is breath taking and amazing and great temples. The nearby town of Siem Reap is lively with popular Pub Street full of drunk travelers from around the world. The temples themselves span a range of time periods and styles. Angkor Wat is the large central complex, but I actually found Bayon temple to be my favorite. There is also the 'Indiana Jones' temple, and the 'Tomb Raider' temple, both beautiful and in more romantic ruins - trees growing through them, and the forest in amongst the collapsed columns. Further out you can find ruins that are even more completely obscured by the forest, allowing you to see what it was before the archaeologists and restorers came. Many of the smaller temples are also nice for getting away from the tourists. Feel free to take a break and sit and admire.

The way to go is to rent a bike ad take a half hour/45 minute bike ride into the temples from Siem Reap and spend the day biking between beautiful ruins through busy forests. You can admire some monkeys and maybe a wild pig along the way and t bike back into town and grab a beer and party just enough to do it again the next day. Tuk tuk around to some of the further temple complexes and don't forget good shoes for scrambling up some of the steeper temples!

Don't forget small change, there are buddha's set up throughout the temple and a donation seems to be expected. Oh, and cover up layers because some areas of Angkor Wat are still considered religious sites and you won't be let in with shorts or a t-shirt or tank top.

Oh, and there are plenty of ATM's now.

I had to run to the west coast one time when two of my ex-wives were after me at the same time. I got to Berkely but ran out of money. Everything is expensive there. My truck got the headlights bashed out in some kind of riot. I only had enough money to fix one headlight and had a tough time getting back to New England.

I lived here for about 6 months and got to discover it a bit more. I always thought the Cal campus was cool, but aside from Shattuck (which I find to be kind of a cheesy street) I didn't know much about it. I definitely appreciate the weather, which is so much better than SF because it doesn't get the fog, so there are a lot of sunny days while the climate is still mild, even in the summer. There are some hippies/weirdos sure, but the places out West that most consider to be cool (Austin, Portland, SF, Denver) all share those residents. Many great restaurants, coffee shops and parks in Berkeley, and College is my favorite street the whole way through. Buying a house, like most of the Bay area is debilatating for sure, but it's a great place to live for a while, or if you're a baller, live for the long term.

I rented a car on expedia through Europcar Mexico. Prices were great! When I got there to pick up the car, they woud not accept that I have premium insurance from American Express. I even got the Amex agent on the phone with them to verify them that I have full coverage already! They wanted to see a letter from Amex! This is nowhere mentioned on expedia. So those "great" prices suddenly quadrupled. I asked them if I would be refunded part of the insurance money back if I manage to get a letter from Amex. They said yes, I can email them the letter and I will not be charged insurance for the days after the letter is received. WRONG! They charged me for the whole rental period even though I emailed them the Amex coverage letter. They never replied to my email and the follow up email. They are sneaky. They say things that don't match each other. Never ever rent a car from this company!

We hired a van through Europcar; I called up and got a price $311.
When we arrived to pick up the van there was $200 worth of hiding charges and the customer service was shit. When I called to make the booking nothing was said about extra charges when we go to pick up the van. I strongly suggested you don’t hire anything from Europcar. They told me they wouldn’t charge my card until we return the van, they used me card to keep the money locked until we returned. When we returned the van they tried charging my card a 2nd time to take the money out instead of taking the money they put on hold from my account. I made sure there wasn’t any money in my account so they could take it out. The company is just one big scam and everyone should keep way. They might be cheap but the prices don’t include the hidden charges
