This beach is worth visiting just to say you have been there. Caution: it is not the cleanest or the safest. My friend got mugged right on the beach in the middle of the day in plain view of our group and other hundreds of people. At night the restaurants and clubs that face the beach are old and often frequented by prostitutes. I also witnessed a mugging at night at one of the cafes along the beach.

Not the best, or even second best beach in Rio, but worth a look. Do not go to the bars here though, unless you feel like mingling with hundreds of prostitutes.
