ItemImageThis museum has operated independetly since 1979 as the only Southwestern museum dedicated to African American cultural, artistic, and historical artifacts. Featured are: an exhibit on 18th-19th century Af-Am folk art, a display of artifacts from Freedmantown (now North Dallas) following emancipation, a section on African photography, and many contemporary black artists' shows.
