ItemImageBuilt in 1910, this building once hosted the Fort Worth Stock Show. Today, it is known as the world's largest honky tonk. Billy Bob's Texas was opened in 1981 as a massive 3-acre entertainment and events venue (plus 20 acres of parking!). The facility hosts country music's biggest stars, treats visitors to a Texas-sized dance floor, holds Live Pro Bull Riding events, features 32 individual bar stations, and more.

Why is this listed as a Dallas attraction when it is in Fort Worth?

Located inside the famous Fort Worth Stockyards. Great western entertainment. You can dance, shoot pool, attend rodeos, or drink. The Stockyards itself has lots of gift shops and places to eat. Setting takes you back to the old west. Well preserved part of Texas history.

Returned from Dallas today 04/10/04 having spent a splendid week in Dallas. The one disappointment from the trip was the visit to Billy Bobs on Sunday night with my friends. We had read articles on the net regarding this mecca of fun and decided to travel 30 miles from Arlington to this venue for our friends Birthday night out. We were welcomed by a bouncer who had the personality of a bear with a sore head and he charged us for the privilege of entering such a FUN venue. There was only a handfull of people in Billy Bobs so that was very disappointing and we decided to have a few beers and play some pool. Half way through our second game of pool they decided to close!!! We explained to them that they advertised opening hours showing closing at 12.30am on Sundays. We had travelled nearly an hour to get there, they charged us to get in, then an hour and a half later they ask us to leave at 10.30 pm - also stopping us finishing a game of pool before leaving!!! That leaved us with a $70 taxi journey for the journey home. Dallas is a wonderful place, so don't be caught out by these so called Tourist traps. Billy Bobs is a truly tacky place!

A shameless tourist trap, Billy Bob's is probabably the largest bar that you will ever see. On the premises there is a rodeo, an arcade, 20 or so odd pool tables, a giant dance floor, and a couple of snack bars. Though it's probably not a place that I would hang out in if I lived in Dallas, it is kind of a fun tourist destination. You get to see a lot of folks walking around in cowboy hats, see some bull-riding, and drink a couple of Shiner Bocks. It's worth a look.
