Last time I was here I was ten. There was a drunk asleep at the entrance. Top was littered with beer cans and nips. Piss stains and stink all around. My first preview of the Boston Garden.

It reminds me of the washington monument although much smaller and uglier.

Eh, it's an obelisk. The site is neat to see but the monument is ho-hum.

If you're in Charlestown it's probably worth taking the walk up the hill to the monument but otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. There are certainly many more interesting monuments and sites to see in the city itself and all with in a close proximity of each other. Bunker Hill doesn't really have a whole lot of other things near it that you might want to see, although Charlestown is a pretty area if you're just feeling like a stroll. If you don't get a chance to stand beside it or walk up it's inner staircase you can always see it from the highway :-)

Although it's not the coolest site in Boston it's definitely worth checking out especially is you climb the narrow staircase to the top for the view. Certainly, on a pleasant day, worth the walk over into Charlestown.
