As far as Quincy Market goes, it's a bit of a tourist trap, but people seem to love it anyway, so I don't think that makes it any less recommendable. If you do visit Quincy Market, please be sure to take a moment to visit the New England Holocaust Memorial just outside Faneuil Hall proper. It is a thoughtful and contemplative memorial that I found both moving and chilling. Here's a photo:

Being a little slow on the uptake, I spent years trying to figure out what this place WAS because Faneuil Hall itself didn't look that impressive, and nobody seemed interested in going inside it. After several years, I finally realized that when people talked about Faneuil Hall, they were referring to the shops, restaurants, bars, and marketplace (i.e., Quincy Market) surrounding the actual Hall. Anyway. This place is one big food court with delis, cafes, and ice cream shops. For those old enough to drink, this place is American food/Irish pub heaven, based on the fact that practically every other restaurant has an Irish name. There's plenty of outdoors seating in the market, which is great for warm summer days. In terms of shopping, I really like the Bostonian Society Museum Shop, which has toys, books, and gadgets for the nerdy-minded.

Quincy Market is ok. The area is a tourist trap. They don't have anything there that you can't anywhere else in the US. It is a cute area, but other than that you can miss it and won't regret it later!

Tourist trap, with Durgin Park being the strangest idea of fun for the rubes. Overpriced food of mediocre quality, waitstaff that couldn't give a shit if you were there or not. Leave a lousy tip and they'll rob your hotel room. When I worked in the Financial District, I'd make infrequent stops there for a pop or ten. Annoying tourist questions: Rube "Where's the Freedom Trail? Me "You're fucking standing on it!" or my favorite, Rube "Can you tell me how to get to the Constitution?" Me "Take I-95 to DC. Look for the National Archives." Finally, I just stopped going altogether and sat my ass down at Zito's.It's bordered by Boston State Prison, AKA Government Center, quite possibly the ugliest architectual monstrosity on the planet, the Financial District (always a thrill a minute), the harbor with a quaint view of floating logs and rats that were evicted from the Boston Garden and the North End (not bad if you know where to go). Yep, you're trapped and that's the way they want it.Lots of shops, lots of worthless shit. Place closes at 9:00pm with the exception of a few meat markets (bars). If you stay here longer than one hour you're guaranteed two things: an empty wallet and the satisfaction of knowing that you are the most boring fuck on the planet.Don't forget to get a ticket for a Duck tour of the city. Crawl through smog filled streets while Boston drivers throw F-bombs at the "captain" and the locals, then prepare yourself for an exciting slide into the Charles in a vehicle that was built during the WWII. Wasn't a problem before, since the Charles was so polluted you could walk on it or the pallets. Now, you might actually drown. My advice? Walk through it on the way to the North End. More fun, better prices (though not by much), colorful characters, great food. If you speak Italian, that's a plus, though they'll gladly take your cash whatever the language you speak. Who knows, if you're lucky you might even see a shooting or two. Then again, there's always Somerville...

cute place. lots of shopping and eating during the day, and a lot of drunk east coasters stumbling around the cobblestoned streets at night. Lots of irish pubs and some up scale lounges in the hood. Its a cool spot for tourists esp. to go see what boston people (or north shore/south shore people) behave widly.

Good place, too bad that ridiculous city hall is right there. Good for tourists or just somewhere to hang out on a nice day.

Nothing spectacular, but a good time. Pretty much a massive souvenior shop for Boston from what I saw. Decent but not great places to eat.

I'm a confessed Market Rat. When I worked in the Financial District, we'd pop down for lunch, drinks after work, etc. Some pretty interesting shops, and a great people watching spot. Also, great food spots from a couple of Todd English's places to fast food. There's also a comedy club upstairs in the Market that has a good schedule of local and national talent.

A very nice place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. It is not far from the financial district so if you are living in the boston area it would be a good idea to go to eat or to just shop around. And quincy market has the most greatest waitresses around there rude and funny the food is good also.

One of my favorite places to go on a summer day. There is a plethora of food eateries lined up one after another to grab a bite to eat while you stroll through all the shops. There's something for everyone there, if you are in boston i suggest you find time to go there!

The food was great, Beautiful buildings, amazing street performers. But it was a little too corprate. I hear that the street performers have to audition every year and only the same people get in year after year. No matter how predictable and unoriginal they are. While at the same time not allowing newer original acts perform. In not allowing them to perform they are actually killing the street arts. Who wants to see another guy on a tall unicycle anyway? But I do love it there.

I wasn't very impressed. Really touristy. On the upside, it isn't out of the way. In fact, it's hard to avoid. Take a walkthrough if you're nearby but don't get your expectations too high.

It is a pretty nice to go shopping, get something to eat, and walk around. It can get a bit expensive though.

If you are visiting Boston, by all means drop by the most lively place in this city. There are great restaurants and shops. There is music and activity in Quincy Market at vitually all times of the day.

This place is cool! It combines the old look and style of a colonial market with items that are popular today. There are street performers galore, neat shops to go in, and vendors selling everything under the sun. The food court is huge. Whatever you're feeling like eating, they probably have it. Faneuil Hall adds a little bit of a history lesson if you're interested in checking it out too. This is my favorite stop on the Freedom Trail.

Not only a nice place to go if you are a tourist because it's attractive and there are many other sites to see in the immediate area, but also a nice place to go even if you live in Boston. There are some decent bars that are right there, in the summertime they have open air concerts just across the street, and there are also some good restaurants as well. Not to mention that the street performers which are fun and the shopping in general. I'd say it's a little crowded but then hey it's a city and just about anyplace like that is going to be busy so at least go someplace decent.

Faneuil Hall is a great place to spend part of the afternoon on a nice summer day. Lots of shops, restaurants, street performers etc. From there you're just a couple of blocks from the Holocaust monument and just a few more from Little Italy.

A nice place to stroll around, get a bite to eat, or go shopping. You'll see lots of trendy people and stores.
