Ive actually seen cases where the pets are good even to bad people...this is one of their biggest assets.  Some animals are more aloof but especially dogs, they live to please.  Anyone they consider in their pack is in for a lot of love and respect.

A note on the list itself:   Well, I do sometimes think that I like the pets a hell of a lot better than some of the people that bring them into our clinic; I've seen the horrible things that people have done to helpless animals, and it enrages me.  But, even though I'm more likely to enjoy the company of someone's cat than the pet owner, I can't honestly say that pets are "better" than people (though I won't say they're "worse", either).  

That being said, I will say that most animals seem less fickle than humans when it comes to companionship, and definitely less superficial, in my experience.

My cat will always love me as long as I keep the food bowl filled.

It depends on the type of animal. This seems to hold true for dogs, but the same can't necessarily be said for cats.
