Joe's Place is one of my favorite Iowa City bars. It is usually not as packed and it is a little more laid back than the bars that are on the nearby ped mall. It is more of a grad student/local resident type bar, so since the undergraduate crowds don't show up, it is a good place to go if you want a place to sit, and if you want to be able to talk to the person next to you without screaming.
