I was just starting 2nd grade and saw this on channel 38 with Ned Martin and Ken 'Hawk'Harrelson calling the game, or was it Dick Stockton?... needless to say I was crushed at the time: but liked how they brought Dent back to throw out that first ball in the '04 playoffs, as some sort of corny insult- and it blew up in their faces.

Piss on Bucky Dent. Any other day he couldn't hit water if he fell out of a friggin' boat.

One memorable point about the at-bat. Dent, now a light-hitting former All-Star, broke his bat hitting a foul ball and went to the Yankee dugout to get a new bat. The bat-boy brought him two to choose from. Mickey Rivers, playing CF for the Yankees at the time, ran out of the dugout and handed Dent a bat saying, use this bat. It has a home run in it. I always wondered, what if Fisk had gone out to Mike Torrez with a new ball saying, use this one. It has a strike-out in it. When Yaz popped out to Nettles to end the game, it was hard to figure out how the Yankees' somewhat makeshift line-up riddled with controversy, could come back from 14 games down in August and overcome a clearly superior Red Sox team with very good pitching. It sure looked like the curse was real, up until last year.

I was only 12 years old when Bucky hit the home run. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Yes! Ha ha! Red Sox fans, your team just blew the whole 1978 season sky high. One of the worst collapses by any team, seemingly insurmountable lead in July gone! How do you guys do it?

HA! HA! HA! HA! HA! ... If the dumb@ss Red Sox didn't blow a 14 game lead, maybe this game would never have happened. ... The 1978 Yankees were in turmoil over lotsa things and you Red Sox fans didn't take advantage. Typical of why Red Sox are history's biggest chokers in all of baseball. You blew it; the Yankees won the 1978 championship because of Bucky Dent. In your face, Boston! ... Nyah! Nyah! Nyah! Nyah! Nyah!
