I have always felt that they should do this...send them to North Alaska or Canada for awhile. Maybe the staff and crew feels better where its warm...

I have been waiting for this idea to happen. No need to make it winter where the contestants will die of hypothermia or anything... but something other than a tropical paradise would be nice for a change.

Yes, yes, yes! Greenland Survivor is the name; however, the contestants must wear bikinis or speedos to make it interesting. I would love to turn a truckload of Polar Bears loose on Greenland Survivor. Hey, they gotta eat!

ive been wanting them to do this for a while now. set the next survivor in the boreal forest of the kamchatka peninsula or the tundra of chukota in russian siberia or on the barren mountainous coasts of baffin island in canada. no exotic animals? what do you call polar bears, wolves, whales, seals, walrus, loons, jaegers, ducks, muskox, caribou, ect ect, the survivors would have to actually live off the land, which in the arctic means travelling a little farther than your local beach to get food. each tribe would get a kayak, a harpoon (this would be the survivor where they actually have to hunt for food, seals being the main quarry) a fish line and some flint and a supply of wood for fire. make the challenge something like 10 minutes in the arctic ocean or "whoever guts the most arctic grayling in 5 minutes wins immunity" it would take a bit more stamina and brains to survive up here, and whoever takes home the cash in this version would definatly deserve it.

I believe AndrewScott is right. I would also add that frozen tundra isn't very pleasant to look at. No crashing waves, no exotic animals etc. There would also be the problem of equipment breakdown in very cold weather, difficulty following the contestants around, limited options for food and fresh water, the discomfiture of the production staff etc. etc. Besides being very difficult to pull off I think such a scenario would be pretty boring. Watch "Iron Age" on PBS sometime and you'll see what I mean.

CBS fully admits they believe they need warm climates to keep things sexy to viewers. They say skin equals ratings. For this same reason, TV networks have an easier time marketing typical summer Olympic sports (think beach volleyball) over typical winter Olympic sports. If TV networks could get away with insisting that lady speed skaters perform in just a bikini and skates, I'm sure they'd be tempted to try it. Seeing some people shiver a little on Survivor might be spark interest, but CBS would never bury contestants under multiple thermal layers for an entire season.

An Artic Surviver? No skimpy bathing suits equals lousy ratings...it'll never happen.

It would definitely add a twist to the show and make it much more interesting. Being in hot climates has been soooo overdone! I would be more interested in watching Survivor if something different actually happened on the show!

I believe you would see alot more people giving up on survivor if it was hosted somewhere cold. Also they would have to go through intense training for cold survival which would show which ones were actually smart within the first few days of the show.

I want to see the polar bears eat them.

Let's see what happens when they have to worry about freezing to death and animals like bears and wolves.

Beaches, oceans, palm trees, and deserts. It's been done to death! Let's really throw them a curve ball for once.
