Cradle of Filth is hilarious mostly due to frontman Dani Filth. I suspect if he had been an American he would be fronting an emo band. The rest of the band is nothing special but they can play. CoF is despised by their own scene for making commercial black metal.

cradle of filth is an incredibly musically talented black metal band with raging guitars, provocative themes (definitely not for everyone's tastes), and great storytelling if you actually get out the lyrics sheet. inspired by paganism, horror novels, serial killers, etc., the lyrics are the best thing this band has going for it in my opinion (although everything else about this band is excellent, especially the live performances and eloquent chamber style orchestration). most people either love or hate cof, but anyone who will actually listen without a narrowminded conception about this band cannot deny the great musicianship. my favorite band for many years.
