I had to take 6 flights with them this past month. JFK to Alaska, Alaska to Taipei, then Taipei to Manila. Then Back again 2 1/2 weeks later. They did have the cheapest fare at the time so I went with them. I paid $1,700 each ticket for hubby and myself, and $1400 for each of my 3 kids. Out of all the flight attendants there was one male who was very nice and wasn't rude. He was genuinely hospitable and when he mistook my sons and myself for Chinese, he was quick to apologize and very sweet throughout the flight even though we didn't need anything during the flight. The flight attendants need to learn to smile without faking it and not looking irritated when you ask them a question. I asked for a deck of cards for my son and myself, the flight attendant rolled her eyes and said, "I will only give you one." The food was like Chinese hospital food. That is the best way I can describe it. On the flight from Manila to Taipei, it was nice that they had a screen for each passenger to choose the movies they personally wanted to watch and games for the kids to play. But from Taipei to Alaska and on to JFK they had on big screen TV in the front for all to watch. So if anyone stood up or a kid decided to stand and jump on his/her chair, you can forget about watching the movie unless you want whiplash. The TV is only convenient for the front row to watch, forget about everyone else. Every single flight I took on China Airlines was incredibly bumpy and when we landed the pilot swerved on two of the six that we took. I never saw so many people throwing up on a flight. I will never use China airlines again. I would stick either with Korean Airlines, Asiana, and Japan Airlines. Even if they are little more expensive.
