 | threerab (0) 01/06/2009 | I am trying to close an line of credit acct Chase suspended (due to decline value of my home). This line of credit was never used. To close it, Chase wants me to pay $105 payoff fee + Closure fee of $45 + fax fee of $60 + reconveyance fee of $45. I WILL NEVER IN MY LIFE GET A LINE OF CREDIT FROM CHASE. Please let every one know to be aware.

 | papayalily (0) 10/03/2008 | They have tons of hidden fees and find tons of ways not to refund you for fees or charges that you shouldn't have gotten in the first place - even fraudulent charges- because they contracted a 'third party'. The staff is incompetant and not allowed to authorize anything that might help you, and tend to have attitudes and look down their nose at you. It was hell banking there and I'm so glad I changed banks.

 | JamieLovin (0) 08/21/2008 | I went to my local Chase bank in Acme, MI to withdraw 10 of 20 dollars I knew was in my account. The teller explained I only had 52 cents, and that I couldn't withdraw any money. I wanted to know why--so I got online and the website was "down for service". I then went to an ATM and had it print out a small reciept for the last 5 transactions. Days later, the website was back up again and I went to check on my balance--they had charged me an overdraft fee of 32.00. I didn't understand why--until I noticed the 1.00 fee attached to my account, labeled "mini-statement". Nowhere did I see a notice when I went to that ATM hat they charged for small account statements. Had I been given the opportunity, I would had known obviosuly that the 1.00 fee would over-charge my account by 48 cents. I am going to Chase tomorrow and explaining the situation to the reps, who have always been wonderful to me about these types of things. If they will not reverse the charges, I will then withdraw all of my money and take up a checking account somewhere where they don't have hidden fees, which are not only very illegal but just upsetting.

 | Jackfromupstate (0) 07/16/2008 | I also have had my LOC frozen by Chase with virtually no notice because they changed the appraisal value of my home without ever seeing it or doing any kind of real appraisal. Here is something you may not know that is scary. I called Chase to see how they were going to report this decision to freeze all of these lines of creidt to the credit bureaus. They told me that they are not oging to report it any differently, that they will continue to report that I have an outstanding line of credit. For example, my home equity LOC was for $63,000 with a $28k balance and any future lender is going to assume that I have $35k of additoinal credit available to me. This will negativly impact a leneders decison because it looks like I have more credit available to me than I actually have. A higher potential debt loab also reduces your credit score, hell it can even raise your auto insurance premium. When I pointed out to the rep that it was unfair to report that I had a $63k LOC with a balance of $28k, and that future lenders would assume I had $35k outstanding available, I was told that "this is the way Chase has chosen to handle it and nothing could be done". I guess they have the right to reduce or freeze the LOC available, but shouldn't they have to accurately report to the credit bureaus what they did and that it isn't our fault ? Why should our credit rating suffer or why should it be harder to borrow money from other lenders ? I too have never been late and even have my first mortgage with Chase. I am in NY and have filed a complaint with the NY Dept of Banking today.

 | itsmecarole (0) 07/15/2008 | I went to withdraw from my Home Equity Line yesterday to pay a handyman for ~$6,000 worth of work only to find that they had seized my LOC without any notice. I went to the bank and they said because they did an appraisal on my home and the value had dropped from the time I took out the loan they had to drop the amount available for me to use. Isn't this like the bank coming back and taking my home because I'm upside down on the mortgage???? This is crazy and now I'm in quite a bind. Does anyone know if this is legal without notification?

 | Denisjs (0) 07/13/2008 | I recently recieved a letter ordering me to stop using my home equity line of credit. I received the letter 3 days AFTER i was suppoosed to stop using it. Despite the fact that I have a credit raiting of 805, my income is in the highest 1% in the nation, my home loan is not underwater (even using Chases very conservative appraisal system)and I pay much more than the minimum every month! I had an outstanding sharedraft that was written during theat period, called their representative and received no assurance they would cover it. Just terrible! Just to be helpful, I called Charter bank the next day, got a similar loan and the interest rate is lower than I was paying Chase.

 | ChaseHater (0) 06/10/2008 | They are getting one star because I can't give them NO stars. I deposited a $21,000 check, of which $20,900 was put on hold. The next day, the "back office" placed ANOTHER $20,900 hold on the same deposit. I am now showing a negative balance, and they are bouncing my checks left and right!! They are putting 10 day holds on my son's paychecks. As soon as everything is cleared up, this account will be closed!

When I called the customer service line I was told that this is happening in my area...BUT I DEPOSIT CASH, AND NOT A CHECK! I WOULD UNDERSTOOD IF THIS WAS GOING ON IF I HAD DEPOSIT A CHECK...THEY ARE VERY RUDE AND DO NOT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING TO YOU ON THE PHONE.. I AM SWITCHING TO COMMERSE..

 | LAJS (0) 04/02/2008 | Years ago I had major problems with Bank One and ended up leaving them on very bad terms. I wasn't sure if there have been any improvements with the bank now that it has become Chase, but to my great disappointment I am once again displeased with this bank. I urge anyone who reads this: DO NOT BANK WITH CHASE! If you are with Chase, then move elsewhere and save yourself from their ignorance.

 | callarae (0) 03/29/2008 | ONE STAR is too high! I wish I could give Chase ZERO STARS. This company has literally forced me into bankruptcy. Like one reviewer stated, when making payments, they call and harrass saying they never received the payment and then months later I receive my CHECK in the mail which has been stamped UNDEPOSITED. I dont even want to hear the word CHASE ever again. I literally get sick to my stomach thinking about the h*** they have put me through. Never, EVER again. It's awful that a company would try to hard to make money. In the end they'll lose out.

Dreadful, Awful, Fraudulent Mortgage Company, and Credit Card Company! Avoid at all costs!! They loose your payments, forcing you into Foreclosure, then mail your lost payments back to you "UNDEPOSITED" after your home is sold. They also Loose your Credit Card Payments just to shore-up more changes and interest. Class-Action Lawsuit here we come!!! I would give them a "0" rating, but this rating system won't do a "0"
You have been warned! Chase Home Finance & Credit Card Services BOTH commit FRAUD every single day, but not for much longer. I'm starting a Class-Action Lawsuit starting at $1 Million for each person that joins me, providing Proof they were Foreclosed on Fraudulently, like me!!

 | rtminner (0) 02/16/2008 | It's all been said, 1000 times over, I'm just adding my vote. My only suggestion is this: Whenever they send you an offer, be SURE to send back the pre-paid envelope with a note telling them to, uh, go jump in a lake, or such. I also like to encourage whoever opens the envelope to look for another job. It just takes a minute.

 | seeya (0) 02/11/2008 | wanna hear the worst? I am an employee of Chase for the last 2 1/2 years and will be for 2 more weeks. I can write a book about how they have screwed their customers left and right. Whats even worse is they make employees get Chase credit cards. One night while making an online payment (which I NEVER make late my credit is 813) I realized I needed to pay $100 more to use my card for gas and get rewards. I Went to the gas station filled up and the next day I noticed an over the limit fee fo $39. I called into our internal line and mentioned that I was a banker and that I went back online and corrected my payment amount. The lady replied "you can only make one payment in a 3 day period" Of course I didnt even know that and I work here.(just another way for the 800lb gorrila (Chase) to get fatter) I asked for a break since I work there and it was refused. To this day I have never been credited back the $39 but they want me to be Mr exited banker to try and get customers to want a Chase card.
That is just one example in hundreds that time and space on this web page wont allow for that has happened since ive worked here.
I am going to Wachovia. Rated number 1 in cusomer satisfaction 6 years in a row. Chase is dead last!
DO NOT BANK AT CHASE!!! take it from one of their top bankers. I am a national achiver at Chase and have been here way too long.
Nuff said.

 | cssevin (0) 02/02/2008 | If you are not a Chase customer they will charge you $3 for an ATM withdrawal. If you miss a payment on their credit card you will be charged $39 and your interest rate will go to 23.9%. They are trying to make up for their massive sub-prime mortgage loss by overcharging anybody they can extort money from.

They will not change payments dates even though your account is current and you are within the specified timeframe. They con you into making multiple payments by telling you that you will will be paid up to to that month...and then, WHAM. Late notice puts mark on your credit rating because they are saying you are late...not paid up. They are nasty and do not ever try to help you.

 | BobfromBklyn (0) 11/05/2007 | Chase is the worst. Out of town with a defective ATM card they tormented me with un-answerable "security" questions like the exact date and amount of the last electronic debit which was impossible to know from out of town and without a statement in front of me. My local branch manager apologized, called the customer service rep some choice names and agreed I was mis-treated. This is of no value sionce we depend on these customer service people when after hours or weekend problems arise.

THAT page ALWAYS bombs. I have tried and tried to tell them about their site and I always get a form letter back telling me how to download transactions (!!!???) The least of the problems is my having to pick up my mouse and CLICK on the userid field. Why can't they position the cursor there in the first place? Tacky, shoddy, programming and scary security!

 | GGGONZALES (0) 09/12/2007 | On September 4th 2007 i made a payment at the Chase bank on Riggs Road in Chandler Arizona. When my transaction was completed i asked the clerk a simple question regarding Chase points. "The information is on the back of the the card" was all she cared to tell me.In the process of being dircted a question the clerk forgot to return my ard to me.Days later i noticed the card was not in my possesion i could not recall the clerk handing me the card so i had to return to branch.Upon entering i noticed i was the only person waiting behind an older gentleman being tended to. A situation insued which required Marcus' help so he approached and the first clerk left.In the interm Marcus stood there as though to be a help but was not another guest arrived, being an attractive female, Marcus left the older gentleman never asked me if he could help me and dove at the young lady and away they disapeared into Marcus' office, this upset me very much, now the first clerk is back and finished with her customer,so i explain about my card (this was the same person who failed to return my card) and she tells me "See Stephani in the the back your card is in the vault" no ' HI MAY I HELP YOU by the way.So now im with Stephani and tell her what had happened with Marcus and she laughed! I said to her that i did not think it was funny but maybe thats how Chase treated its customer base. Then she had to call Loren Haskell who prcoceeds to say " i'll di that right now" which made me feel better but then Mr. Haskell decides to have an at length conversation with with the before mentioned Marcus. Finally Mr. Haskell opens the vault and retrieves my card. Not once did anyone do say anything helpful or nice instead i was treated like complete trash.

 | CNCgeek (1) 09/06/2007 | These charlatans tried to charge me $35.00 for a .21 overdraft.
Thirty-five bucks, for a twenty-one cent overdraft, which I took care of in less than a day.
That, is criminal. I do not care what their policy is, if I attempted to charge those kinds of rates when one of my customers was late on a payment, I would be in prison.
I have been with Valley National, who was absorbed by Bank One, which was then consumed by Chase. Each time, I saw a sizeable decline in quality and customer service.
I am considering keeping my money in a coffee can under the oak tree in the back yard. I suspect the worms and ants will give me equal if not better customer service.

 | acspsych (0) 06/10/2007 | We have been a long standing customer of Bank One, the purchased by Chase. Customer service for unauthorized transactions to our checking account has been extremely poor. More important than the unauthorized charge is the several hours that I have needelessly spent accomplishing nothing speaking with their dispute department, being placed on hold, and ultimately disconnected. We do about a quarter million dollars business with Chase every year. Never a late payment, never an overdraft. We will be closing our four accounts with them and doing business elsewhere.

 | Veryveryveryupset (0) 04/05/2007 | BloodSuckers,Charge you overdraft fees, after the 7-10 "processing time" for the overdraft and then the wait in the mail for the notice ,by this time the fees have been so blown out of proportion and so large that you do not know what to do but call the bank only to get the run around and have them change up everything they have promised, such as overdraft protection, processing time, bank statement/notice of overdraft. They will bled you dry if possible, they have hidden charges and will change interest rates without warning at their discretion and without notice.THESE BANKS ARE NOT WORTHY TO BE IN BUSINESS,they violate constitutional rights and are morally evil about their way they do business. They are liars and do not have customer service, they have customer apology line ,in which they apologize about being shady money grubbing overchargers and let you know that the matter is out of their hands and there is nothing they can do.This my sole opinion and a warning to you good people out there...ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS AND GET IT IN WRITING.OTHERWISE IT WILL BE YOU WRITING IN THIS FORUM.

 | burgeltz (0) 03/25/2007 | Where do I begin with these losers? The fraud prevention people run the show at this bank and will freeze your card when you do ANYTHING out of the ordinary. My wife and I took a trip last year, no problem. We come back home and the card is declined for fraud prevention after 2 transactions. It gets worse. We briefly had a checking account with them. Took another trip, came home, and they froze our ATM card within 24 hours. The really back thing is that we had called customer service in advance to tell them we would be out of town! Stay away!!!

 | DavidFriedkin (0) 03/06/2007 | I am studying in Paris and I lost my ATM card. I called and canceled it and had them send me a new one. I waited the 7-10 business days that it was supposed to take and it didn't come. I called and asked what was going on and they told me that the person I talked to before hadn't filed the request for a new card. So I request it again. Another 7-10 business days, nothing. I call and do it again. Another week, nothing. I called and requested a new card FOUR TIMES and none of the people put a request through. All the while I'm alone in a foreign country with no way to access my money. Before I was able to have somebody loan me money I had to buy groceries with a bag full of change, and when I told them this they still refused to expedite the shipping of my card!
I tried to complain to the customer service department, only to find THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. There is nobody you can file a complaint to.
The first thing I do when I get back from Paris is to switch to another bank.

 | nshack (0) 11/04/2006 | I was with Bank One for 6 years and then they became CHASE. Bank One was a decent big bank with only minor problems with the impersonal way it was run.
With CHASE taking over it has changed dramatically and gotten much worse.
When you call customer service for credit card you are likely to talk to someone overseas who has no power to reverse incorrect charges or do anything but explain your statement to you.
I used their online features and have found that there are mistakes made in the system that they will not take responsibility for. In 3 months I have been charged $186 in fees that were due to errors in the online payment system.
When I call a branch to speak to someone in person (also in country) about the problem, I get the national hot-line and an operator far away. When I finally get transferred to a local banker they ask that I come into the branch so that they can be sure that I am using the online features correctly. It shouldn't be that hard. So much for convenience and customer service.
I am changing banks as soon as I can.

 | Angela8670 (0) 11/25/2005 | I have been with Chase Bank for a little over 5 years now and up until about a month ago, I would have said they are an ok bank until now...
I went in to add my fiance to my account. He moved from Minnesota to Texas recently. The rep at Chase Bank told me that someone from Minnesota already had an account with them using my fiance's social security number. The rep asked for my fiance's original SS card, which he provided, and a copy was made. The rep said that something was definitely wrong and would have the Chase Fraud Dept. look into the problem. I was promised a phone call back from the rep at Chase within the next couple of days. I let a week go by before I called back to find out what was going on. I was told I was the one that had to talk to the Fraud dept......so I called the number they gave me......was told by the Fraud dept that I was not allowed to call in to talk to them...that the reps at the branch are the ones who are to work with them to figure out what the problem is. After getting no phone call back, I decided to call the branch manager......I describe again the problem and was promised another phone call back......A few days later, I get a message from the branch manager telling me "We are going to have to continue to "decline" adding your fiance onto your account. I am going to call our client in MN and ask him if this is his correct SS number". (Well duh, if this guy is fraudulently using my fiance's SS number I believe he'll of course state it's the correct number.) In the meantime, I call the MN SS Admin dept. and find out that my fiance is the only one showing with his SS# the way it should be, and was told by them that Chase needed to contact them to confirm this. Soooo, I call another Chase branch to help me and was told that yes, they do have a client with the same SS# but they don't have a phone number to contact this guy.....so therefore there was nothing they could do. I call the other branch manager back and she tells me she has contacted this guy in MN (now how did she do that if there is no number showing in their system) and has not heard back from him.
I then tell her I'm filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and am telling them that Chase knows that one of their so-called clients is fraudulently using someone else's SS# and they're doing nothing about it. Needless to say, I have closed my account with them. I would warn everyone, if you ever run in to any kind of problem like this, Chase will do nothing to help you. And I do mean nothing. If it doesn't affect them, they don't care. I have never seen reps for a company be so flippant about something so serious.
