Bunch of crooks. I worked for a large, car dealership business who banks directly through them. My paychecks always ALWAYS went into my checking account the very next day. The bank decided to hold one of my paychecks for almost a week and neglected to tell me about it. When you just put over six hundred dollars in your account, of course you don't check the balance every day when you've only bought a few bottles of soda. So they slapped me with almost $550 in overdraft fees and made it sound like they did me a real favor. There's no way I could pay that all at once so they offered me a credit card so I could pay it in increments. I ceased all checking transactions with them. The credit collections department then forced me into doing a post-dated check by phone to make a payment I could not afford at the time. When I went to give the bank branch money to cover it they said what collections did is not even possible! Not only "not possible", but illegal in Arizona! But collections pulled the money out anyways. That hit me with ANOTHER overdraft that nobody well waive. The bank tells me to contact collections and collections tells me to contact the bank. I'd almost say somebody planned the whole thing. The worst part is, I probably don't have anything that would hold up in court, so I can't even sue them! Never use this bank!

I have been a Wells Fargo customer with great satisfaction for the past six years. Wells Fargo has my mortgage as well as my savings/checking accounts. I have never experienced any problems and have always enjoyed good communications with the banks' representatives. I check my balances daily and Wells Fargo has yet to shortchange me. My assocaties in California and Arizona rank Wells Fargo at the top.

This bank doesn't even deserve one star!

We have been long time customers of Wells Fargo and in January 2008 we added a small business banking account to our other existing accounts. They are a terrible bank for small businesses. They told us that if we used their merchant services they would not charge us any bank fees. Sounds good huh?? WRONG! Their merchant service fees are HUGE and their service is terrible. We recently had a customer try to scam us out of our money by having a chargeback against our account for money he paid to us. With no questions asked, Wells Fargo deducted the $3000 from my account and then they also held back all of my credit card transactions to the tune of $6000 as a 'risk management. At this point in time I am still out $9000 and I have provided them with all the proof they need to show that the person who got the chargeback was a scammer. Thanks for sticking up for small businesses Wells Fargo! I will be changing banks today!

Wells Fargo is HORRIBLE. I used to work for a company that does their customer service reviews directly with their customers and of all the banks we did these reviews for WF was the worst. I myself have been with the bank for about 9 years now and its been getting progressively worse and worse to the point now which I'm about to close out all accounts with them.

The card services are especially abhorent, I'm dealing with a card problem now concerning a re-billing of an old charge. I've already faxed them copies of the statement (that had copies of the check i payed with that THEY stamped and approved). I also, sent them a statement of the money market account from which the ammount of the check was withdrawn. Three weeks later it has yet to be resolved after multiple calls.

This was not the only card service problem I've had. My WF account is not my primary account and therefore isn't active much. WF decided to suspend my debit and credit cards WITHOUT even notifying me via mail or phone! Needless to say when I tried to buy something on the card one day I was embarassed and incredibly livid at them. They saw nothing wrong with their practice of no notification!

Take care when dealing with them... Keep on top of your statements! Better yet, just go someplace else if you can!

Only gave one star to Wells Fargo Auto Finance because there is nothing lower here. A terrible bank that is gaining that reputation for good reason. At the end of your auto lease they will try to collect as many fees as they think they can get away with. I will never do any business with them again and hope that others will benefit from my bad experience with Wells Fargo and avoid them.

The Absolute Worst bank I have ever worked with! Wells Fargo sent a letter in the mail with a deal to refinance my co-op with no refinance fees. They said I was pre-approved. When I gave them the $300.00 that they said I would get back, they sent out an appraiser and said my place was worth over $130,000 less than when I purchased it. The purchase value has dropped by about $30,000 but certainly not $130,000. The appraiser but in multiple wrong sets of data which devalued my home. When I asked them to re-evaluate, they said the figure stood as is. They told me that I could refinance if I now start paying mortgage insurance of about $100.00 per month. Communication with the complany was beyond awful. My loan officer said he wasn't returning my phone calls because he was no longer my loan officer but I had no contact from Wells Fargo to indicate this had changed. When I asked him what his supervisors title and telephone numbers where, he said he did not know. He put me on the phone with another person because he couldn't help me anymore because my account wasn't his, and this new person told me that he couldn't he couldn't help me either. Warning!!!! Do not fall into their refinance traps. It is a scam!!!

I've banked with Wells Fargo for 10 years now, and have NEVER had a problem. They are friendly, and are always willing to work with the customers. I am actually really upset that I have to stop banking with them due to moving. There are no branches where I'm going.

Basically, I see a main common theme between all of the complainers...overdraft fees. Here's a simple solution to that complaint...DON'T SPEND MORE THAN YOU HAVE!!! I am not perfect, and I am in debt just like everyone else, so if i take out more than I have, obviously I'm going to expect a fee, I mean come on people! The bank is loaning you money, so of course they're going to charge you for taking out more than you have! It's common sense!

Quit acting like children and grow up!

I have never been treated so poorly or with such disrespect as I have by Wells Fargo. Their loan officer, Lee, REFUSED to return any phone calls and made us miss our closing date. I would recommend ANY OTHER bank over Wells Fargo--check out Countrywide Home Loans. Don't give WF your business!!

i am livid right now after checking a business card for a business that is dissolved but still have credit card that i was charged a nonactive account fee of $25!!! i'm trying to pay this account down so I don't use the card anymore and then WF sticks me with a fee for not using it and bringing my balance back up!!! i just got into it with someone in customer service and she was no help. WF customer service sucks. They never know what's going on.

Wells Fargo = Despicable!
Awful Management practices. Claims of Diversity and supporting the employee are not true. Wells Fargo acts like a company that cares until they have no reason for you!
Internally Wells Fargo is a mess. If you have an opportunity SUE wells Fargo!
Take if from an internal source. Wells Fargo has to settle law suites ALL the time due to unfair practices.

Wells Fargo officers have been convicted of embezzlement. Wells Fargo has promoted convicted embezzlers into VP officer level positions.

Wells Fargo does not protect the customer. Employees are able to walk off with computer equipment and sell it out of their trunk.

Wells Fargo is not a good investment. Wells Fargo stock holders should shirk over the monetary losses from untracked computers, monitors, projectors, equipment, movie cameras and office supplies.

Wells Fargo is not the diverse company it claims to be. A company like Wells Fargo cuts checks to appear diverse.

Wells Fargo should be ashamed of how they claim to be pro employee. The whim of any given manager is the business plan of tomorrow. Wells Fargo leadership training manual should be entitled Use, Abuse and Stab em in the back Management the old west way

i only rank them as a one because a rating is required.

I have always enjoyed the ease of use Wells Fargo's website provides. It allows me to conduct all my business in the click of a button. I can pay my bills, obtain a stock quote and purchase stock, apply for a loan or new account as well as retrieve old copies of checks and statements.

Wells Fargo whether at the corporate level working with businesses or the personal level with home mortgages, credit cards or deposit business reflect in my opinion the worst in corporate greed. The customer comes last in multiple experiences I have had and those of business colleagues.
Wells Fargo CRA rating based on their working relationship with income limited persons, non-profits if truly evaluated in depth by government officials should be among the lowest in the country.

Wells Fargo is one of those lenders you should avoid at all costs. They prey on borrowers. The access late charges and then late charges on late charges. I would avoid them at all costs...find another lender.

If an appliance store promises no payments for a year and the lender who provides this is WELLS FARGO refuse the offer...you will be glad you did. You will avoid poor service and high fees.

i have had a great experience with wells fargo. their employees all know me by name and are always eager to great me. yes, they do have expensive overdraft fees, but you have to remember that they are still a business and do not loan money for free. when you go overdrawn they don't decline your transaction, on a normal basis, this saves you the embarrasment of being declined or the urgency of needing money in an emergency situation. when your acct goes overdrawn, you are borrowing money from the bank, i completely understand why they charge. also, if they didn't charge, ppl would go overdrawn all the time. i have found that there are several ways to keep your accts free. the best thing is to ask questions, read the papers they give you, and visit your store frequently to get financial reviews to make sure everything is going well. wells fargo has been nothing but helpful, corteous, and all around a great experience. this is a professional top rated bank. also, in doing my research, through this troubled time that our economy is going through there are many banks, including wamu, that are asking the government for help. wells fargo is one of the only banks that is still reporting a revenue and not asking for help. i feel secure in knowing that the bank i'm with also knows how to take care of their own money. i don't know why anyone would want to be with a "free" bank when it's going under anyways. also, i got my 15 yr. old niece a teen checking account which is the best invention a bank could do. it is completely free and a great tool in teaching my niece how to manage her money. all the ppl that are complaining, i'm not saying you didn't have a bad experience, but maybe you need to look at all sides of the spectrum. also, most of you that wrote negative comments, do you ever write anything nice about anyone? Guaranteed you've told more ppl about the bad experiences you've had with businesses than the amount of ppl you've told about the good ones.

Wells Fargo: Poor service, high fees, bad attitude. After three years of maintaining large balances, I pulled out my account from the local, "small town" branch due to their unwillingness to perform simple services such as "unlinking my checking and savings accounts", "providing a signed statement of balances", "no fee foreign currency", etc. - all advertised when I opened my high balance account. In addition, they had the audacity to charge a $25.00 monthly "maintenance" fee and it took two months to reverse it. Wells Fargo in Port Townsend had a turnover of 5 managers in three years, plus a new "personal banker" every few months. They do not seem to be able to keep their employees, and have no regard for customers. A letter to the Bank management remained unanswered. Wells Fargo is a stupid bank: Stay away...

It seems to me everyone so far as expressed my feelings.

1) Hidden Fee's -Checked my account balance at a Wells Fargo ATM, I decided to print out the balance. $2 fee.

2) Confusion - Had no idea this was going to be a fee. Just looked at my account few weeks later, here was this $2 fee, I had no idea where it came from or what it was. Customer Service was No help, and was rude.

3) Confusion - I do get e-mail alerts about New Legal Notices, changes to my account. But that is all the e-mail says. It takes me 30 minutes looking through the Wells Fargo website just to find the Legal Notice Document. And what did they change. In Big Red Letters, "We are Getting Ride of Fee's". What a fat lie.

Yes, they got ride of a few fee's in my Checking Account. But then they doubled remaining fee's and added a few more. But that was in small black letters.

4) Lack of customer Service - I've only called customer service 2-3 times, but from those customer service calls, my problems were never fixed, answered, or solved. Terrible customer service.

Unfortunately this website makes me give Wells Fargo a one. I would like to Rate them a negative 5.

FYI: I have been a customer since 1993. as of 2008, through many problems over the years with wells fargo. Good Bye.

I would sooner trust my money with a bunch of mobsters than ever deal with Wells Fargo again. This bank spends every resource it has thinking of ways to cook its numbers so that they can take money out of your account in NSF fees. There were plenty of times when my account was overdrawn, despite the fact that money had been deposited into the account days prior. Their rules seem to constantly change, their Customer Service never knows what's going on, and banking with Wells Fargo is having to constantly wonder if your money will still be there. Routinely I've had direct deposits held at key times to incur overdrafts, and the key to WellsFargo and how they scam you is their bank statements. Unlike WaMu, or Bank of America, a WellsFargo statement doesn't include a balance of your account in the ledger, only a statement of what you have in the account at that time. So if you're trying to go back and see how much you had on X day during Y transaction, you won't be able to, which is why they've gotten away with pulling off their scam. These people need to be shot. Period.

Terrible bank. Avoid them.

Took out a loan, made automatic payments. Stopped auto payments because of a move to another state; contacted WF by phone and by mail to notify of new address. Did not receive a bill until 6 months after move. Had continued to make payments at great inconvenience. Called for final payment and made it over the phone. Then, suddenly, two months in a row, auto payments started up again (on the loan we just paid off) and the (inactive) checking account went into overdraft.

Also have had trouble with charges for services that you're enrolled for simply by clicking on the link to get more information for a program on the website. No notification of enrollment. They must know it's sneaky (illegal?) because when I called to ask about it, the phone representative was quite familiar with the complaint and how to reverse the enrollment.

We have our home loan with Wells Fargo and haven't had any trouble with that until we took a line of credit for new siding. The loan went through just fine. We came home from a short overnight trip to find a check from Wells Fargo for the amount of the loan lying on our front porch, soaking wet from the water from the sprinklers. On our front porch!!! The trouble we have now with Wells Fargo is because we pay our bills on time, they want to lend us even more money and call several times a week with "offers". Sometimes as late as 8:30 at night or first thing in the morning. I have told them time after time to not call, we know where the banks are if we want to borrow and to leave us alone. And it usually the same, droning voice at the other end. They are phone pests and won't honor our requests to leave us alone.

This bank is definitely a scam! I have a credit card with them that I owe nearly 14K on. The account's been closed for over 6 months. I make monthly payments of $400/mo to that account. Wells Fargo offered me an Auto debit option that would lower my interest rate. I signed up and the following month, nothing was debited. After 3 days I decided to send the payment in myself, for fear of more late fees. Then this month, I sent the payment and they debited another $400 out of my account, causing me to go into the negative, then all my check card purchases for the week cleared and I go slapped with $408 in overdraft fees. I told them this shouldn't have happened, that they should have communitcated with me about the auto debit, when it was going into effect. They claim they stated this would happen on my statement. What purpose do I have to read a statement for a credit card account that is closed? I know how much I have to pay you guys each month. They couldn't call me? They won't refund the credit card payment, nor the overdraft fees. I strong feeling they planned this. WELLS FARGO IS A SCAM!

After having a pay check deposited into my wells fargo checking account on a friday, I payed bills etc. I recently had to purchase a new car and had to put down a down payment. This payment was accidently depoisted 1 day early. I recieved my check from the insurance company and deposited it monday morning . The car dealership also took my check in monday morning, instead of the check pending for a few days like every other transaction, they took the funds immediately out and all of my small 15 transactions over the weekend were no longer pending once the realized a check for 1200 would off set the account. So now i'm stuck paying $525 in overdraft fees when all of my previous transactions were way before that check went through, and why would you allow a check to go through if its going to offset 15 transactions and leave the account negative 800 dollars before the overdraft fees. This bank is a scam

I gave them one star too but this bank should be put out of business. The day before my aunt died, they called me about $50.00 I'd forgotten to pay, because I was my aunt's caretaker and she was dying of cancer. On the day she died, Wells Fargo called me 3x despite the fact I'd told them I'd pay back THE ENTIRE LOAN soon. The day after she died, 5x. Today, I just lost it. Has this company no shame???

I give them one star because you can't do zero. Their overdraft "protection" is a joke. I'd rather pay the $15 overdraft fee for making a mistake and be on my way, but WF feels they need to charge a fee for the transaction plus interest. Have two things overdraft because they post the withdrawals at 1159PM and paycheck at 1201AM the next morning, you might as well give them your first born. Interest on their credit card after the 6 month intro period is near car title loan interest rates. Terrible bank. Got roped in with low mortgage loan. Do not use.

After 30 years of being a Wells Fargo customer with NO overdrafts, I made a human error -- mistakenly transferring less money to my checking account than I had entered in my checkbook. Rather than send me an email to this effect, WF let the overdraft charges continue to pile up for FIVE days. I found out about my mistake when I tried to withdraw money from an ATM and learned that I was overdrawn. That had never happened to me before. I rushed home and found my error. I called WF, transferred money over the phone, and asked why I hadn't received an email about the problem in my account. The supervisor told me that I had to sign up for alerts! It would be the easiest thing in the world to write a program that would trigger an email when someone's account was overdrawn--but of course, in that event WF wouldn't make tons of money charging for overdrafts. They rescinded half the fees because I'm a good customer, but I'm closing my accounts and going elsewhere. Other banks may charge the same fees, but I won't have been their loyal customer for 30 years, will I?

My four children and my spouse have taken out educational loans but one of my daughters had one of her loans bought by Wells Fargo. She has never gotten a statment from them that reflexs her payments and on top of things we consolidated all her loans to one and now they say she is late making a payment on one of the accounts but when actually she has been paying on the ONE Account consolidated and there should not be any late payments. They have continued to charge her late fees on this bogus account for over four years and now want to make her or her parents whom are co-signers to pay the loan upfront. But we have never seen any loan paperwork from Wells Fargo other then their late payment statement. We have numerous times tried to contact them by phone to get this all straighten out. Their staff have made threats of ruining our credit histories if we don't pay off all this bogus account including the late fees that they the bank has made against a bogus account.

I received $138 in overdraft fees because of the order in which Wells Fargo decided to deduct my debit purchases from my account.

Let me explain. I had $48 in my account January 11th. Between January 11-13 I made 5 purchases and spent $46 of my dollars using my debit card. I knew I was under my $48. That left $2.

On Monday, January 14, I made an electronic credit card payment for $50 online.

On Tuesday, January 15, Wells Fargo submits my 6 purchases in order of highest to lowest starting with the $50. That means I had $48 in the bank they subtracted the $50 first leaving me at -$2. I still had to clear 5 more transactions all under $14. Each of these 5 transactions along with the $50 transaction received overdraft fees.

If my transactions had been submitted in the order in which I spent them, I would have had only one.

It's as if they purposely submitted the way they did in order to screw me. I called over the phone expecting someone to understand that I spent within my means all weekend, and that my credit card payment was merely an accident. All I got was a condascending, cold woman who I knew had heard this complaint several times before. She could care less. I cried.

Then I knew if I went in to see someone in the branch they'd have to understand. So I did this. And the person who tried to help was very nice. But he came back with the same explanation. It was highly frustrating.

I will be closing my bank after my last check clears. I don't have to put up with this. It was a mistake to even open the account. I was pressured into it. I was seated. The branch manager came over and smiled at me. She brought me her card. Today when I went in there to complain, the powers that be were nowhere to be found.

Save your time. Do not bank with Wells Fargo. I'll be the first to admit, I live paycheck to paycheck, but I watch my last dimes like a hawk. I never thougth this institution would do be like this.

The bank executives in the USA will be made to account for their policies on NSF fees and financial trickery with credit services.

I hope after this mortgage crisis, people in the USA will see these executives for the criminals they are, and put them in prison with their buddies at ENRON. Their actions truly criminal.

In Europe, if you don't have enough funds in your account, it just isn't paid. The payment is refused. End of matter. I believe ALL of the major US banks use NSF fees as a major revenue stream and try to grow that stream as much as possible. This is just plain thievery.

You think for a second, if an average person went to court asking for these fees, the judge would permit it? No way.

The people responsible for implementing these systems and policies should go straight to JAIL. It's time we stop allowing corporate America to rape the middle class and take advantage of the poor so their board members, and directors can take the multimillion dollar bonuses.

Will someone from the legal profession please find a few of these corporate executives to be made an example of?

I have been a customer of WELLS FARGO for over 15 years. I chose the bank because of its convenient locations as my work has me traveling to various states for extended periods. I closed all of my accounts yesterday due to fact that Wells Fargo charged me $408.00 in overdraft fees for transactions totaling less than $40 after an unexpected AUTO-withdrawal overdrew my account. I called the bank expecting a rational person to understand that a 1000% penalty was perhaps a bit excessive and maybe they would be willing wave or forgive a portion of the fees. I was told by their representative to read my account agreement which clearly stated that Wells Fargo can charge me anything they want.

Ok, I understand that my account was overdrawn and that there is an overdraft fee issued by a computerized system for every transaction completed. My problem is with a bank that is unwilling to make an effort to fix an obvious case of usury. I can expect fairer penalties from the local mafia or loan shark than I received from Wells Fargo. 1000% penalty?...give me a break...Furthermore, the condescending "matter-of-fact" way that I was dealt with infuriated me to the point of taking my business elsewhere.

My final conclusion is, of course, a dubious one. It is part of the Wells Fargo business plan to take FULL advantage of overdraft fees and penalties by designing a system that encourages the creation of such fees. I concluded this because the bank will never deny payment when a customer uses their Debit card because they know that they will make an easy $34 off of them. Personally, I would rather suffer the quick embarrassment of a declined credit card than the blatant extortion of $400 of my hard-earned money.

I am a entrepreneur myself and understand that business and compassion seldom mix and that businesses are in business to make money. However, if I were to charge a 1000% penalty to a customer who bounced a check i think they would laugh in my face, as I am currently laughing at Wells Fargo Bank for their absurd business practices.

Thank you Wells Fargo for charging me $408.00 for three cups of coffee and a couple of movie rentals.

I switched from E*trade to Wells Trade due to the current financial difficulties E*Trade is having and boy what a nightmare it has been. Everything at E*Trade was instantaneous. I could transfer money instantly between accounts at E*Trade, I could sell stock and immediately write checks with the money or use the money to buy additional stocks, etc. Wells makes you wait for everything. You have to wait 1 business day to transfer money to your Wells checking account!! What is with that? If you sell stock you have to wait until it closes (three business days) before you can use the money to buy additional stock or transfer it to your other Wells accounts.

Another gripe is the amount of time it takes to execute orders!! When I placed market orders with E*Trade, they executed immediately. With Wells, I have had to wait up to 10 minutes for a MARKET order to execute. What is going on? Is the trading guy stuck in the John, or what?

If E*Trade makes it through their current difficulties, man I am switching back in a heartbeat, even if I have to pay $10/trade. It is worth it.

I'm not much for complaining, and I do realize that most people don't comment on banks until they have a reason to gripe. However, I have not been happy dealing with Wells Fargo in terms of a credit account I opened with them since the beginning. My overall gripe is that it apears they are trying to make it difficult for me to pay my bill. There have been several months when I have not received a statement, and this has not happened to me with other companies. The payment due date for the bill is also scheduled just a week to the day after I receieve my statement in the mail. Other companies that I deal with will allow you about a month to make your payment. A week's deadline is tight for most people. I have tried to make things easier with this account by managing it online. Unfortunately that hasn't been easier. I manage almost all of my financial accounts online, and Wells Fargo is the only company that does not allow me to view a statement online. When paying my bill I cannot even see the balance remaining on my bill. My latest peeve is that my online access was somehow shut down. That happens...no big deal. I gave the security information needed to reset my password, but I was told that my account was locked and I needed to call customer care. No number for customer care was provided. So I collect my statement and call the 800 number. After going through all the touch-tone "security" requirements, I find out that my call was not received during their business hours. CLICK...Automatic hang up. Once again...other companies would usually give more options and allow you to choose to hang up. So after going through the security requirements again, I try to pay my bill over the phone. Sure, I can do that...for a $10.00 processing fee!

I know banks make money off people by charging credit and late fees, but that smart consumers don't fall into those traps. However, with technology as great as it is today, companies should be able to make it convenient for their customers to access help and pay their bills. Dealing with a system that appears designed to create late fees and build up charges has not been a fun experience. I am not likely to open up another line of credit with Wells Fargo, and can hopefully avoid doing business with them in the future.

I have been with Wells Fargo for only 7 months. Granted I thought everything was going well until the bank held a charge for two weeks then everything went crazy. For the last two months I have paid over 700 in NSF fees. I have direct deposit so I use the Direct Deposit advance option becasue they take all my paycheck. I have been current no NSF and three days before Christmas Wells Fargo has decided to shut me off. That is the kind of rude, non caring bank this is. DO NOT OPEN a account with them. You will be sucked in and they will never let you out.

The employees and management at Wells Fargo bank do not care about their account holders! They refuse to help in any way and are extremely rude. We called their customer service number and one of their local branches to discuss some fee reversals, but they just told us "there's nothing we can do" and then at the end of the phone call the had the audacity to say "have a nice evening" in a sassy and snide tone!

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT AS WELLS FARGO BANK!

This is my advice to ALL!

When my son was over seas last year there was a problem with his account incurred by a third party, which had disasterous a affect on his finances. My wife went to them and explained the situation. I was put on the account and they took care of the problem. Without going into detail, it was a problem that they could have washed their hands of, but they chose to help and they actually went out of their way and cut a few corners to help a guy serving his country. I couldn't give this fine bank any less than a five.

Just as a side note, I have found over the years that most people that whine and complain about their bank are usually at fault. If they were to look at how they handle their money, or rather how they are not handling it they will find that for the most part, they are the source of their financial woes. Most banks don't want to lose customers.

This bank sucks! I went to a branch to ask for a hold to be taken off on $20,000 check. They could not help me and then on top of that the banker enrolled me in a rewards program without even asking me and then after 2 weeks a get a charge of $30 on my statement. And about the hold they refused to take it off even though the funds were realesed I was so needing the money. Luckily I had a friend who knew a branch manager in LA and she took it off. Now, they have charged me an Activity Excess fee because I did too many transfers between my checking acount and savings. And not last, they got me on the school loan. 16% on a $9000 school loan. That's just BS. That's worse than a credit card. If I knew it was going to be that much I would have looked somewhere else. MyRichUncle school loan is only 10% and nobody has heard of it.

Our Experienced with Wells Fargo are by far the greatest and they are the nicest. I would give them more than five stars. I guess if you are nice people are nice to you too. You just need to be responsible for your account!that way you don't have to pay over draft! Be polite and nice to people because they will be nice to you too and if they are not nice continue to be nice anyway. Your banking will be good to any bank if you are responsible and polite.

Unfortunately you can't give them a '0' or negative rating, so a 1 'star' will have to do. My husband and I had our accounts for 10 years. The only reason we didn't switch was because the close out fees for our IRAs and other accounts would have cost us several hundreds of dollars. That, and other banks that we tried to switch to either lost or messed up the paperwork. Given they didn't seem to be any more competent, we figured that we might as well stick with the 'devil you know.'

We're one of the lucky ones who haven't been hit with fees, as we keep very steady balances and we pay everything on our visa card - so overdrafts aren't a problem. However, even for us large balance 'PMA' customers, their service is atrocious. There hasn't been one thing - one single account opening, adjustment or addition/change to an account that they have not messed up and didn't require me to make several calls to straighten it out.

The last straw came the other day when I tried to get a payoff amount for our home equity loan (refinance). I went into the branch office; not only could they not give me the printout, but the fax number that new bank was supposed to use to send over the request was incorrect. Again, several calls to get the number (and more calls after to see if I got the same 'correct' number).

I really, really, really hate that bank. Now we're moving to a local Credit Union and moving our brokerage/IRA accounts to a well-known brokerage firm. The fees are only *slightly* higher going this route, but the real payoff will be the elimination of the headaches and bullcrud that I've put up with for many years.

I recently racked up 340.00 in overdraft charges for 1 check. I was told that they went back on my debit charges until the total was the amount of the check that bounced, and that was 10. 340.00. when I went to the bank to complain, I was told to take a class in accounting. I am furious and have taken this to the CFO of Wells Fargo.

It has been awhile since I banked with them. I started this as my fist savings account I was in control of. When I turned 18 they started slapping me with different fees. Most of these fees should have never been charged since I was employed by a company that provided certain benefits with Wells Fargo. I reminded Wells Fargo this twice and they kept messing up on my profile. Finally I got sick of trying to change them, and I changed to Washington Mutual. They give you a savings account per request free until you are 19 (this is what there website said when I applied). I got the free savings, the free checking, and it felt a lot better without the fees. I cannot decide who to pick between Bank of America or Wells Fargo, all I know was I was satisfied with Washington Mutual.

I have tried speaking with no fewer than five supervisors and several other associates via the 1-800 number but with little sucess. Everytime I call with concerns and frankly, complaints, about the continuous overdraft charges (including those posted despite my deposit and return of above-zero balance), I am pacified and spoken to in a clearly condescending voice. At no point do the wells fargo employees speak harsh or inapropriate words but that does not compensate for the clear and appearant annoyed and entirely disinterested tone in their voices. The supervisors make it very clear that they would love nothing better than to get off of the phone as quickly as possible and that they do not care about what I have to say. I am appauled to think that Wells Fargo is willing to leave the decision-making of supervisors to a computer system. If I had known they prefered to let computers decide over my communications, I would NEVER have chosen to bank with them. As it is, I was with Wells Fargo for five years and I intend to close my account today. I could hardly be more disappointed in a financial institute.
P.S. On an upnote, the in-bank associates are quite pleasant and helpful, despite the limitations their company places upon them. They are the only factor which merit even the one star I gave them for rating.

I have been a Wells Fargo customer since 1992 and was satified until I became a Well Fargo investment customer this year. I have never seen a company so large and so inept that is unprepaired for investment business. I have had too many problems to list here, however, I urge you all to file complaints @ https://tts.sec.gov/acts-ics/do/complaint and @ and the OCC address left by Dthunder. We cannot fix these problems here, but we CAN collectively file complaints with the SEC and OCC government agencies who have the power to make Wells Fargo change their ways. It is not okay to make mistakes when it concerns others' money however, the manner which it is dealt with has an enormous impact on whether or not people resort to formal commplaints. Wells Fargo is lacking on the Customer Service front. All employees in this company need additional customer service education.
