OMG what a piece of crap this bank is was a pff bank customer for years checking savings home loan on line etc. US bank took over I deposited over $1'000 cash. it took 5 days to post in my account. went on vacation out of town was told our pff cards would be honored untill new ones were made available. out of town our cards failed to work at all. not a problem I have an account at Downey savings also. and the same problem US bank stopped that one also. let the fees begin no matter what type of deposit I make to US bank it takes one full day to make it into my account including cash. payrol checks direct deposit same problem. when you set up a payment they begin processing it several days prior and the account is short and you get charged for over draft. when you make a debit purchases they process these in any order that will cause an over draft. after years of never having an overdraft occur with us bank it is a daily occurance. The staff at my local branch are the old pff staff and they are great and have waived every charge if you call the 1800 us bank # i found them to be rude short and complete jerks. then I discovered these Personal bankers dont even have the same screen on the computer that the branch and my home have it is called the "Blue screen" it does not show all the transactions etc. so calling them is a waste of time. I already moved my direct deposits etc. and the teller tells me, AND THIS IS REAL RICH SHE TELLS ME DID YOU HEAR DUE TO SO MANY CUSTOMERS LEAVING US BANK THAT THEY CHANGED CALIFORNIA TO AN URBAN ACCOUNTING SYSTEM INSTEAD OF THE METRO ACCOUNTING SYSTEM. WTF. acounting should just be acounting. I thought I had heard it all I checked rippoffreport.com and found 397 pages of the same complaints. What a great bank...

The worst bank I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. I have a mortgage account and a checking account with them. It takes forever for my money to become available in my checking account. As far as my mortgage account goes they want to foreclose on me because I moved to another state to go to school and I no longer live in the house. I have never been late OR missed a payment, yet since the house is not occupied they want to call in the loan, and they won't let me rent it out. Ridiculous. I hate this bank.

WORST BANK they took over Downey Savings and Loan in California. I've never had payroll checks held now I have to wait 2-3 days to get my money. One of the old Downey employees said I should cash my check and deposit as cash, so that it will clear and I could use my money.HA US Bank has put a hold on the cash money. Now I have my account in to a negative balance. My other complant my brother sent me money in a account transfer, I had to pay for the money coming into my account. Whats next?????? I'm looking for a better bank now. Downey Savings was great, I'm looking at Wells Fargo they seem to have some good reviews.

I have been a customer at this bank, and until recently I have been fairly happy. First of all, I scheduled one of my bills to be withdrawn on the day my paycheck is direct deposited into my account. My bill payment was withdrawn before my direct deposit, because even though they claim they all go through at the same time, they don't. This caused me to have an overdraft, and then everything else that went through that day resulted in overdraft as well. It was 4 total. They were nice enough to reverse them, because I explained that either they had made an ordering problem, or my bill was withdrawn before the agreed upon time. I figured either way they fixed the problem. My second problem which is causing me to leave them has to do with my savings account. I recently deposited a large amount of money into my savings account for holding, and was transferring various amounts to my checking to pay off some credit cards I had. What I did not know is that each time I transferred money to my checking account was considered a withdrawal, and I was allowed 6 per month. I think I did a total of 10 transfers over the statement period. Each transaction over 6 gets charged $15! What's worse is that when I called to complain they told me I have unlimited withdrawals/transfers out of my checking, but I have to do them with a teller or at an ATM. I can't use the online service they provide me with.I am going to be leaving this bank as soon as I can. These fees were not outlined anywhere that I was able to find. At least other banks I'm looking at moving to state if there's a withdrawal fee for savings accounts.

This is the worst bank ever. Their rules are made to make money on poor people. I 've been with this bank for only a year but they they charged me total $700 in overdraft fees. Last time I deposited more money (cash) that I needed for my transaction, but they kept most of the deposit for verification and charged me three overdraft fees for using my account - living me with no money to live for. They take money(cash) and they make you owe them. Stay away from this bank if you do not want to loose everything.

I am terribly horrified with the way the transition from PFF Bank to USBank has occurred. They must have a bunch of imbiciles working for them! On the first business day after USBank was announced as taking PFF over, I went to my branch. I was met by what looked like a corporate executive who stood in the lobby. I asked her if anything about my PFF account would change. She smiled ear to ear and assured me that nothing would change! Boy was she a liar! Months went by with no changes, which was comfortable for me. Until the transition nightmare began this past weekend!I have not had access to view my account line from 4/18/08 through 4/20 due to what they call their "transition", or should we say, " let's pull the wool over the prior PFF customers eyes so they won't see all the additional fees were gonna get from them period!" Yesterday I went to a local convenience stor to make a purchase using my debit card, and even though I used the right pin number two times, the read out comment indicated that a different form of transaction would be required. I remembered thinking how bad I must have looked to the clerk who was tendering the sale. She must have thought I was someone who hadn't a dollar in her name!Thinking it was a glitch in the stores swipe machine, I went to a different store, and got the same problem. I went to a bank ATM to check the balance of my account, and was able to make a small withdrawal. Upon returning home, I went to login to my internet banking system to find that I no longer had access to view PFFbank.com, and was forced to enroll in USbanks internet banking system. By this time, I'm fuming.....so I went to call PFF to find out what the heck was going on. I was met by a recording which stated that the number has been changed, but was later able to punch in the right number to be transferred to US Banks customer service department. I was immediately placed on hold in their que, and the recording indicated that it would be 7 minutes before a representative would be able to assist me, but offered to transfer me back to the automated system to gain access to my information! I hung up yesterday, thinking.....what the hell? This is not the way PFF did business, they prided themselves taking good care of their customers. Due to the anger I felt, I thought it best to detach for a while, you know, see if things would be better the next day. Having a fresh start today, I went to check my internet account to find that as an extra added benefit to their advantage, I got a charge of $1.50 for merely looking at the balance of my account from another banks ATM! Then upon looking closer at my "welcome package" I find that some of the other fees have jumped to $36 bucks as it pertains to the type of account I had, which would have only costed $22 under the agreement I had when signing up with PFF.Today, I called USbank in an attempt to find out the punch line to this "joke". Only to find that they know about the glitch with the ATMS card, but I won't have access to my ATM card until tomarrow, and was due to an error that went unnoticed by their corporate office, which is affecting everyone transitioning from PFF to USbank, and that "they're sorry". Yeah........did you notice the bragging going on on todays stock market news on 1Q profits? It was fun while it lasted, but I'll be getting the hell out. That's the punchline! My bottom line is what counts, and not the banks!

I should have run away immediately the moment I received my first piece of mail from US Bank. On all the new account information they sent AND on my new debit card, they spelled my name wrong! Then when I called to tell them and to ask them to change it, they said, "Oh you must have misspelled your name on your application." I was a magna cum laude college graduate. Yes. Clearly I misspelled my own name. That must be the answer. The customer service at my US Bank branch is not good. The people who work there are so snobby, and they don't even try to help most of the time--it's always, "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do." What's the point of being a "customer service representative" if there's nothing you can do!? They hold deposited checks for several days. Once, I deposited a check and wrote my rent check both on the same day. The deposited check did not "clear" in time, and I had to pay an overdraft charge. They refused to remove the charge from my account, even though the check was written on the same day as the deposit was made.Another time, a store mistakenly did a double charge on my account. I called US Bank to have them remove ONE of the charges, and they removed BOTH of the charges. So the store thought I was trying to get away without paying. It took over 4 months to resolve the issue. It was extremely frustrating.I am still with US Bank, because I am a medical student, and I just haven't had the time nor the patience to deal with the hassle of switching banks (plus, US Bank probably charges a fee for switching)...but the first thing I'm going to do this summer will be to get my money out of US Bank.
britterp 04/12/2009
I'm very surprised at all these bad reviews. I've been with US Bank for almost 5 years and never had a single problem. I've opened both a checking and a savings account with them. I've never been charged a fee for anything on either of my accounts. Everyone I've talked to at any branch has always been very friendly and helpful.
jaseljas 04/03/2009
I have never encountered such incompetence. To those of you blaming the bad reviews on the customer's stupidity: sometimes that is the case, but reading through, many of the experiences were similar to mine.Yesterday, I deposited $200 into my account and made a purchase of $18. Today I bought some groceries totaling $96, and lunch totaling $8, thinking the funds would be released by then. I go online to check my account just now and I've been charged 2 overdraft fees. I have been informed that they release $100 of a deposit immediately, then the rest in 1 business day. I was (and still am) outraged that I would be charged two overdraft fees when I only spent $18 yesterday. I then looked at the order of my purchases online, & it has put the $96 and $18 first, making the $18 & $8 bounce and charge fees (for money that SHOULD already be in there).USBank orders purchases how they please, and tell you things to through later, even though all were of the same type (debit).STAY AWAY FROM US BANK, IT'S JUST NOT WORTH YOUR TIME.

It seems as if the GOOD ratings are coming from employees that work for the bank. Do you have your money put into US bank? Also, isn't it your job to say good things about your place of employment? US bank is a crap bank. They have horrible fees for everything and sometimes the fees shouldn't even have been added to your account. I have had times where I got an overdraft charge turned over but for the most part they have all these little stipulations so that they can make money. They hold your money for verification-if its cash what do you need verification on?? Also, the online banking isn't correct?? Then why is it there? When I go online to check my account to make sure that everything is up to par and so I don't completely screw myself and it's not correct then what am I supposed to do? If you're with US bank get out-get out now because honestly I've never heard anything good about this bank!
Kim57 03/31/2009
Horrible - fees fees fees. Opens account type not requested (money market for a child just so it can suck off fees) without notification and then charges fees when goes under certain amount. Overdraft protection shows interest - pay full amount and then interest remains with the bank. 8XX# Customer service condescending and makes rude comments - lack of respect. Horrible bank to deal with - and rude. Find another bank!! Don't bank with them - the slime factor has increased exponentially over the 15 years I've been banking with them. They pushed me to the brink this time and I am in the process of moving my business.
Neptune06 03/19/2009
I too, would like to tell anyone seeing this that US Bank is NOT the bank for you! Their business practices , in my opinion, are opaque. I personally don't get how when they take money out of your available funds, "reserving" it until the payment goes through, then having a different payment not clear, how it is that the funds that were "reserved" gets accessed an insufficient funds fee also. If you have taken the money out already, reserving it, how the hell does that transaction not go through. At the very least their negative balance fees are a gigantic slap in the face. After talking to a manager of a branch he explained to me that the information on your account over the web through their site is not completely accurate. Why the F#$@ even provide account information if it isn't accurate? These guys blow and I am dropping them tomorrow. Like I said, the negative balance fees suck and that in itself is enough for me to close my account. F#$# You US Bank!!!
jprell 03/09/2009
I wish there was another option to give a 0 star for service. I knew I would do some shopping over the weekend... SO like anyone would I deposited money to cover any funds I might spend... The ATM printed out a avail balance on the positive...Well apparently they don't actually clear your funds until Mon or Tue if it is a holiday and then they proceed to tack on $37.5 fees!!!!!!!! So for each transaction (most of which were less than $10) My fees totalled $400+ Now in dealing with a branch manager (which took a week to return several of my calls in the mean time they charge me $8/day)...I had to bring my account current before they will refund any charges... I can just imagine the call I am waiing for when they tell me they will refund 2 charges as a courtesy!!! The moment the funds hit my acount I will definetly be closing and NEVER returning to such a place!!!

Worst. Bank. Ever. Charges me tons of money in fees, yanks away my Checking Account advance when they think I'm giving them too much money in fees. Fuck them. And fuck every single person that works for them.In fact, If I could walk into a US Bank Christmas party and murder every man, woman, and child in the place, dismember their bodies, and smear their profiteering entrails all over myself, I would do it quickly and gleefully.

I just wanted to put a good word in for US Bank because not only am I an employee there for 3 years but I do my banking with them as well. I see what people write on here and understand some of their issues but if anyone was to actually take that into consideration when choosing a bank that wouldn't make much sense...EVERY SINGLE bank is going to have the same complaints! I know that I provide great service to my customers at my branch and obviously can't speak for all the employees at US Bank. I am proud to work for and bank with one of the strongest banks in America! The trick is to cover yourself on all sides when it comes to overdrawing your account...don't let it happen and if it does make sure you have overdraft protection! Its that SIMPLE!
Alisia 01/22/2009
I haven't had an overdraft fee in I don't know how long, and I had even gone to a branch and filled out an overdraft protection after being hounded to do so by every teller for a couple months. Obviously the girl just wanted to hit her quota, because she said I could fill out the paper and she would call me, as I was in a hurry, and I never heard from her again. I didn't worry about (as I said, no overdrafts, so no worries). Then I had one item put my avail balance neg. I immediately put funds in to cover this expense, and then some (an extra $90) so that my account balance would never actually become neg. US Bank then put through my transactions, largest to smallest ($15, $2, $1, $1) and proceeded to charge me $140 in overdraft fees. And, because of this $140 in fees, something else is now neg, and I have another $35 in my future. I am changing my direct deposit today, and leaving this bank (which I have been a member of for years) FOREVER!!!
usbanksucks98 01/21/2009
I should have run so far away and so fast when US Bank approached me to open an equity line. Not only did their sales rep LIE about the options and the interest rates to hook me, but now I've learned that the only thing I can do online is LOOK at my account. Can't pay it, can't pay from it. Total waste of my credit. It's been this way for nearly a year and all the internet people can tell you is sorry, that's the way our system is. Avoid US Bank. Go someplace else!
USBankBlows 01/06/2009
My wife made the huge mistake of over drafting with minor purchases like a cup of coffee and a pack of gum. Yes she is at fault (although to her credit she is usually on top her finances and she swears she checked her account online in the morning and she was fine) but to charge her $245 for this plus $8 a day is just gross and greedy. Screw you US Bank we had an account with you for just over one month and we are now closing it.
yomom 01/02/2009
Too bad i can't give them half a star or LESS!!...id give this bank a negative rating if i could. IM SO ANGRY!!!! US BANK IS PISSING ME OFF! I just have to rant... Okay so they charged me a bogus overdraft fee and now they're holding my money for MUCH longer than they said they would. First it was day and now its more than a week! I flipping need my money! Previous reviews are correct, everyone has different stories about fees and what not. I'm so ANGRY!!!!!!!!!
twansalem 12/30/2008
I think most people below are overreacting. USBank isn't that terrible, they're just a large bank. Some branches have friendly people behind the counter, some don't. You'll get that when you do business with a company this big. Also, don't forget that a bank exists to make more money with your money. Those of you below who said that they don't care about you are correct, but that's true of any bank. If you don't watch what you're doing (writing checks with money you don't have, etc.), of course they're going to charge you. Of course I'd rather bank at a smaller local bank, but it really isn't practical anymore, so USBank works as well as any large chain bank.

Five Star Service??? Let's review there so called 5 Star Service. 1. Horrible customer service 2. Outragious Overdraft Fees 3. Employee high turn over 4. Every employee has a different story about the fees 5. They are not very professional. I could keep going on and on. 5 star service??? Here's my 5 star service, take your account to a bank that actually cares and treats you with respect. This bank has been a pain in my behind since I opened the account 3 years ago. Every time I have a question about my account and I ask the teller it seems that they are more confused than I am. I only when into overdraft once in the whole time I had my account and they would not work with me. I even spoke with the Branch Manager and he treated me like I was some kind of criminal. He was rude and cold. I asked for his supervisors name and number and he practually laughed at me. I could not believe it!!!!!! Needless to say, I did close my account and opened it at another bank. I will NEVER open an account at US Bank. Be careful with there specials. $75 in free groceries if you open an account. $75.00 is not worth it!!! Trust me, I was a loyal customer for 3 years!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
USBANKISFRAUD 12/23/2008
I've been a US Bank costumer since 1999, and there is NO WAY I will EVER go back: (1) Without warning, TWO MONTHS before my student checking account was to expire they switched me to the worst check card imaginable for a student (minimum balance, monthly fees, etc..) and it wasn't until I saw bogus charges and physically spoke to a branch manager that they admitted their error and were able to refund me the money they charged. (2)I spent all my money in my account Christmas shopping yesterday (the 22nd) and when I went home THAT NIGHT I transferred money back in to my account to avoid an overdraft fee. However, because I'm Pacific Standard Time they still charged me because it was after 12am according to EST, even though it was 10pm for me!!! AND now they won't refund me. This is ridiculous. I'm leaving US Bank.
Lilmommie1998 12/19/2008
US BANK!!! HUH nothing says US about this bank, a customer to this bank since 2001 however when a accident totalled my car, the insurance companies auto and Gap had faxed documents to this bank advising of payment processing and soon would be delivered. However 6 days before Christmas- Hearless Huh this " bank" decided I was no longer valued although they had info in writing they would recieve payment they TOOK almost 300.00 out of my account without authorization although direct debit had been cancelled and all their good for nothing customer service manager could say that's policy and well you should have paid. The Gap insurance company sent the check out on 12/19/08 to this company and what I was advised from this terrible instituion is well when we get the check you will get your refund - the late fee 29.00 - the 50.00 fee for cancelling the direct debit option (that they still debited) I would have to wait 7-10 to get what is left back from my money. Some 5 Star service Huh? Yeah I feel the five stars in my rear from this Bank. I warn you all don't walk past US Bank to read signs, if they say come in we have specials yeah speacial hidden fees, specially screw their customers. YOU ESPECIALLY RUN TO THE NEXT BANK! you've been warned.
mfurtado 12/19/2008
US Bank and their customer service are woefully ignorant, or willingly unhelpful, each rep has their own version of how the system works. Negative charges are a fraud! And to further bury you they process transactions starting with the highest amount first, which causes all the smaller amount transactions to be the offending ones, customers easily end up with multiple $37.5 dollars charges for small transaction like a $3 coffee. For those who claim customer just lack responsibility, its not, your in fairy land if you think that, every now and then someone overdrafts on an honest mistake, and if that person is of modest means, they will not have the hundreds it will take to inject into that vicious cycle that one single transaction creates. Its unfair banking practices in my book, and I hope that laws and regulations come into place to stop this. U.S. Bank does suck.
ingadingadoo 12/08/2008
I hate US BANK, do not go here for your personal banking. They charge you overdraft fees like it is going out of style, I would never want to put my money somewhere not safe like US Bank. They don't care about your personal problems, they just want your money.
JessicaJessica 11/17/2008
I opened my account about 5 years ago. The first year or two they were refreshingly great. Friendly, helpful, polite, smart, sympathetic, etc. I have no idea what has happened in the last year but they have gone way downhill. For the most part, the staff are surly and uninterested in their customers and jobs. This is both the call center staff as well as the branch staff. I lost my ATM card 3 weeks ago and am still trying to get a new one. Every call I make, gets me a different rep with a completely different answer. If you get the slightest bit upset, they either laugh at you (you can hear it), hang up on you for having an edge to your voice (a girl just hung up on my because I spoke the words "Like I said" to her), or are simply blank. I don't know if anyone reads these reviews, but stay away from US Bank. Five years ago I would have recommended them. Not anymore- not by a long shot. I luckily get to be a part of a credit union, so think I am going to go join them at long last. Staff seems far more capable than US Banks does. Plus, they don't charge you a lot of money for awful service (as if they are doing YOU a favor by holding on to your money). In fact, we are doing our banks a service by giving them our business, and our money - which they gamble with, basically, and get bailouts when they get too greedy and do an awful job. Take your money to somewhere else - somewhere that treats you as a human being.
onlinebanker 11/12/2008
US Bank accounts are a self managed account, if you cant keep controll of you finances then you need to take a class. I work for US Bank for over 2 years and have never had an issue with my account. Grow up and take responcibility, dont spend money you know you dont have and you will avoid od fees. When you open your account you are provided a Comsumer Account Agreement Book which outlines all of our procedures and fees any grown adult knows you should probably read this (DUH).

I recommend avoiding U.S. Bank if at all cost. I was unfortunate enough to have my mortgage sold to them, which was when I first had to contact them. Their first statement said I owed double of what my mortgage payment is. When I contacted them to find out why my mortgage payment suddenly doubled, the customer service man was extremely rude. He asked me to read him the entire letter that was sent to me by HIS bank (3 pages) so that he could "catch" me for not reading the fine print. I refused to spend my time reading out loud a letter HIS EMPLOYER sent me. (For the record, I had read the entire letter before calling and it had nothing to do with them trying to double my mortgage payment.) It turned out to be a "computer glitch". My second experience was with a car loan that my husband took out. We paid double payments for 6 months because US Bank auto drafted our checking account unknown to us (we did not sign anything and they have no record of us signing anything). To clear up the issue, the customer service lady (who was actually nice this time) said that we simply don't have to make payments for the next six months because our past double payments would apply to the next six months. To make a very long story short, the bank did not apply the payments correctly and tried charging me at least 1000 dollars in interest over that period. The kicker is that when I tried to get a history of my account showing how payments had been applied and interest had been calculated, I was told that this was "not possible" because I had differed from my amortization schedule by paying early... A VERY scary thought when the bank can't track it's own payments. I am still working on this one! Bottom line--STAY AWAY FROM US BANK!
jonathonwygant 10/31/2008
I have been trying to close my account with them for three weeks now and they kept telling me I had pending balances... when there was nothing left in the account I tried once more to close it and then the monthly fee went through and the bank has so far charged me $240 in negative balance fees dating all the way back to the 12th of October (last statement above zero). If you bank with them GET OUT NOW! It wpn't be long before they go under.
LadyJesusFan77 7 10/17/2008
They were ok for a little while until one day I went in, asked a legitimate question that I had a right to know in the first place, and got snapped at. It certainly showed a lack of being professional. If this person was having a bad day, staying home would have been a good option.
exusbanker 09/27/2008
WARNING If your credit card information is stolen, USBank will not help you get your money back. It has happened to me and they have said that they are sorry, but they have to honor all the charges despite the fact that the signatures look nothing remotely close to mine. Be warned! You will have to sue to get any real resolution!

we have had a mortgage with us bank for the last 8 years. In July I made two payments within two weeks of each other. We called the bank to ask them to apply one of the payments to August. Then we got a statement stating that our payment was past due. We called the bank again. Then again. Then faxed a copy of the checks from the bank with there stamp on it that it had been cashed by them. When calling they were rude and I was told there was nothing I could do about it. She said even if they made a mistake they would just prove that and nothing could be done about it. Another person hung up on me. Here it is September and we recieved another statement that we are in default of our loan. I am going to fax a copy of the checks to them again. we are being treated like criminals and they are threatening to take our house because I paid extra tward the principal I might add, and paid the payment early. There should be a law against the way we are being treated and what we have to go through for paying early. Can they take our house? I just read a news article about how they lost four payments from a man and forclosed on his house. Then when they found his money he was told he had to pay $3000 in fees. I hope I can get the help I need before this happens to us. I sure as hell will not give them an extra payment. Not going to happen. They should pay me for the hell they are putting us through.

I have never had a bounced check or other fees with this bank simply because I handle my finances well but I can tell from the many dealings I have had and their questionable policies that this place is a disaster waiting to happen. Every policy of this bank is geared to eventually screw the customer in one fashion or another. I feel like I am in a used car shop when I go there. I am in the process of opening a credit union account and slowly funneling everything out of there before they find a way to screw with my finances. If you read the small print, they fully expect you to give them notice before you want to close an account and it actually says "you cannot simply bring your balance to zero as there may be fees pending" I assume this means they will make one last stab at trying to find a way to hold a check or payment or something to get some more fees. I am astonished that they are allowed to continue as a bank. Everything they pull on the customer is just barely inside the law or they structure the situation to make it look like it is but there is no doubt whatsoever that their structures and policies are specifically designed to fleece the customer. Stay away from these people. I saw the writing on the wall and am getting out of there while my finances are still in order. I would have given them zero stars but one star is as low as you can select.
billybob10 08/26/2008
Wretched! I know that most banks surcharge for foreign transactions, assumedly for currency conversion. Even though I know foreign currency transactions/conversion for large banks are costless (as a professional economist, I can say this with certainty), I really didn't have a huge problem with this. I just found out the hard way that this price gouging outfit now surcharges foreign transactions even when such transactions are made in U.S. dollars! A customer service manager was unable to justify the cost to U.S. Bank with this type of transaction; all I got was that it was a new policy as of May 08. Its a shame that the banking system in the U.S. does things like this. If there is a legitimate cost a financial institution incurs as a result of having me as a customer, I'll pay it, but there is no way whatsover foreign transactions fees, overdraft charges, etc. are not subject to a ridiculous markup. Curses to you, U.S. Bank. You suck.

In 1967 I opened up my first checking account with US Bank and had been a devoted customer up until the middle of 2007. For many years US Bank treated me great, they had the same employees year after year and always greeted me by my first name. Then in the late 90s things started to change, their employee turnover was unbelievable. I just became another face in the crowd, and was treated like a stranger in the same bank that I had been doing business with for over 30 years. I had a checking account with direct deposit, and savings account and a credit line account with a flat rate of 11% interest. For many years I would borrow from my credit line account, pay it down to zero and then borrow from it again when it was needed. Not once did I ever get behind on a payment or never make a late payment on that account. In the middle of 2007 I came on some hard times and got behind on a credit card that I have and it affected my credit score. Even though it did not have anything to do with them, US Bank used that information to raise my 11% interest to 23% interest on my credit line account. Even though it was a huge hassle I told US Bank to kiss my ass and transferred everything to a different bank. There are a lot of different banks out there, why would anyone do business with a bank that treats you like shit.

These people are THIEVES. My debit card had an authorization ran against it for the totally wrong amount by a merchant, which never even got sent through as a charge. This didn't stop them from assessing me over $200 in overdraft charges. They were indifferent to the fact that this transaction was in error, and that the money was never even deducted from my account. Not only that, but I received some of the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with, as well as being directly lied to, when I tried to have this resolved.

I agree with most the negative reviews here. Without a doubt, the rudest and most unprofessional management and customer service personnel I've ever experienced! Stay away from these people. There are many better alternatives out there.

I thought US bank was a decent bank until tonight. I really didn't like them or their rude customer service so in May I closed my account. Before I did that I asked the banker if I had any pending transaction so when I take the money out that there wouldn't be any other charges. She told me no everything went through. So I said okay I want to cancel my checkings and savings account but I kept my credit card with them. After they closed it and gave me all of my money back I went home and checked online to see if any of my checkings or savings were on there and they weren't except my credit card. Every here and there I will log into my US BANK account and ONLY SEE A CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT. Until tonight, I saw that my checking account was negative for a month!! I called US BANK to see what was going on and this rude "online bank manager" Amy wouldn't listen for anything. The whole time she was talking over me and saying she understands what was going on but she didn't. I told her I never seen my checking account online before just my credit card account so what was going on. She told me she knows for a fact it has been there since day 1. Funny thing is I've been on there constantly checking my credit balance and I never once saw my negative checking balance. So as I was trying to explain my story she keeps on talking and talking. So me being the CUSTOMER was trying to tell my story over here and she kept asking well are you here for my help because that is what i'm trying to do. But she wasn't she told me the same BS over and over and wouldn't listen to what I had to say so to get my point across I tried over talking her and she hung up on me!! Last time I checked they were suppose to SHUT UP & LISTEN!! I also noticed that their site was getting a new look so maybe they just finally threw in my checking today. I'm the type that would pay off my negative balance if I had any not keep it going on for a month and a half. I never recieved any statements regarding my checking account..this is new to me but she had the nerve to tell me it's been there the whole time?! NO I have 3 different witnesses that saw I only had a credit card account..US BANK IS A BUNCH OF BULL!! THEY DON'T EVEN DESERVE A STAR!!!

Us bank is the worst bank I have ever used hands down! First of all for those of you who dont know each little individual branch is its own entity, and who ever happends to be the manager of that branch can do as they please in regards to your money. Not only is their overdraft fee the highest at $37.50 per overdraft, but they take it to another level and charge you $8 for every day your account is negative. This money adds up very quickly, and US Bank will not help you with the fees, or negotiate. They are terrible with customer service and horrible to have your money tied up with. Anyone who reads this and has a problem with US Bank should go and talk to King Soopers(which houses many us banks) and tell them what is really going on at the us bank in there store.

we have been banking with us bank for 9 years (back when it was first star)my husband and I had our personal and our business accounts there. at first, it was pretty good and then us bank took over and then their service went to crap!!! they started changing everything to get more fees... they changed the posting amount, they upped the fees and they constantly change things by putting notes on the statement they send in the mail. now, if you're an online banker, you don't check your statements because you've all ready seen what's going on. the latest thing they did to us was at the 800 number, gave us the wrong info (atleast that's what the branch is telling us) and now we have a fee that who knows if they are going to take care of it now.... my advice to anyone would be run, run far away from us bank and don't look back, they might charge you for looking at them !!!

I agree with all the bad reviews of US Bank I would never tell anyone to bank or work there. Leave as soon as possible, management is terrible they lie and cover up ,the best thing for the banking industry is to shut them down.... Managers have no clue how to act professional or how to treat people. They lie to your face from the second they open there mouths. So think really hard before you would work there or God forbid give US Bank any of your money. They are only out to f*** people!!!!!!!

I am a college student and have had accounts for US Bank for about 4 years now, but their services sucks. Their online banking lies and when I think I have a little money for smokes or chew I will purchase it but then two days later i'll check my account and it won't even be on the pending list. After about 2 or 3 weeks I will go back and check and I will be in the whole about 400 dollars. This has happend to me so many times I can't even stand it any more. Their 35 dollars over draft fees it complete bs. Even if someone goes over 25 cents their SOL. I have called and complained so many times but it's like they don't even care, even when I tell them their internet banking is shit. Just taking money out of our hands and feeding their multibillion dollar corporation. F this I am going to a credit union where they actually care.
samstheanswer 04/17/2008
they are paid on commission, i was robbed also on the "the payements didn't go through yet" thing, plus the charge was $8 every day after you went overdraft, by the time i actually realized i went over it was well over $100 on a simple $9 purchase on gas at a 76 station, they said they could reverse about $20 for me on the overdraft, and then i wanted to close my account and i guess it costed another $25, so i spent over $125 trying to just end it all that day

I agree with all of you. They charge $8 per day for a return check. Worst bank in the country, they should not name their bank after the name of country.
jake66208 03/27/2008
They will nickel-and-dime you forever. I finally called and asked them to close the account -- and they then charged me a fee for generating a statement!

US Bank sucks! The management is rude and not helpful. I have lost thousands of dollars in fees. Once, I deposited a third party check in the ATM which I had done before with no problems. This time they decided to reverse it in my account, but did not let me know until 4 days later. The branch manager explained they could do that at anytime for security reasons (stolen check or something), and he also thought it could of been for the large amount of the check as well. At that time, I had been a customer for 8 years. Why did they not call me, or let me know sooner. I had already written my checks for the month. It was a mess. With all the overdraft charges, I was out several hundreds of dollars. I had a valid check, and they reversed it in my account because of the amount and because they could do that at anytime. You would think they could of worked with me since I was a customer for 8 years. They are theives!!! Don't trust them. They are rude and just want your money to pay the management!!!

US Bank has always been good to me. I have been using them for 8 years for business and personal. Their fees are low and the customer service has always been great. It may be just the branch I use but I have used other branches that were fine.

Writing this while waiting on hold for US Bank. Had a lease with US Bank, at end of lease I bought the vehicle through my usual bank. Starting receiving phone calls (now a letter) from US Bank that payments were being missed. Frustration is I cannot seem to get to the person who can handle the issue. Now into the 4th person, reaching 60 mins of the phone (good thing I have a couple hours of paper work to get done while waiting on hold). Spent less the 10 mins on the phone with my usual bank to verify the payoff. I knew things were bad 3 years ago when I tried to arrange for direct payment of the lease and US Bank couldn't seem to process the paperwork (I tried 3 times). For others out there looking for a bank I would recommend going else where.
