US Bank = U Suck Bank!!US Bank charged me a $5.00 fee, on a zero balance account, because my bank statement got returned to them. Turns out, they did not update my address/phone # in their system when I told them too. So, since November of 2009 they have been charging me $8-32.00 per day in overdraft fees off of their $5.00 fee they charged me initially because they got my statement back. Mind you, my balance was at zero so I am now overdrawn by a total of $331.00....all of which are fees and not related to me whatsoever. This was all bank related. US Bank has also placed me on Check Systems. They stated that they would still keep my account and reverse the fees if I chose to bank with them, but that if I went to another bank, they would not reverse any of the fees. They have also refused to take me off of check systems because they say that I am a "liability", which I don't see how. I'm not the one that overdrew the account. They did. They created this overdraft and chose not to make any other attempts to contact me. I tried discussing this with the Branch Manager at Orenco Station, and she said that they had decided that they would now only pay 1/2 of the fees because I couldn't prove that it was a bank error. Ultimately though, because I asked to speak with the district manager, and because I asked for a letter stating these things in writing, the branch manager threatened that she was going to physically remove me from the branch. LOL!! Yeah, right!! Now I have been banned from US Bank and they say I owe them the whole $331.00. I owe them nothing. This was a bank created overdraft...all made up of fees. If they would have made any other attempts to contact me, this would have been taken care of immediately. They chose not too. But they did keep sending letters to the address that they new was incorrect, in an effort to contact me. I think we're all getting a bit tired of these banks and there obnoxious fees. Let's all stand up and say "NO MORE!!!"

OK, I have seen the bad comments, and all the threats to USBank. To me though, it is just OK despite that I was in the red and paid a penalty of $20 for an overdraft of just $1.04, but I have heard that they will give you a notice of 5 working days for all balances in the red before they charge the fee. If I get another, it will be upped to $35; quite unfair when also if you don't use the account at all, you'll be charged $5 if no use after 6-8 months. For those choosing this bank to store your money, it is Five Star Silver checking or Money Market Savings for personal banking packages. Savings/MMAs: go for Elite Money Market or Goal savings, but the interest rates are quite low, I warn you. For checking, I currently have the Free Checking, but the catch is that I have to use their ATMs to prevent paying THEIR fees, but the non-USB ATM fee will not be waived. Additonally, if you do one deposit OR withdrawal, no fees of any kind will exist, unless it's overdraft.Others that are OK are Workplace Checking and if you are age 55+, Silver Elite. Now I got this info from the California metro booklet they supplied me.With the 8 years of service, I do feel OK with this bank as they do provide good service and don't treat me as a number. It's just 24 States they serve, but comparing this to Chase, Wells Fargo and Citibank, the USB Free Checking is much better.

I chose to close my US Bank HSA account because of the frequent and money draining fees and poor customer service. The agent helping to close my account was strikingly ok with my choice to close the account, and I did not understand why until months later when I was slapped with a $34.94 fee to close the account. Not only was I completely unaware of this fee (I guess I should have been since I already knew there was a fee for everything else), but this fee was sent to be collected by the recovery department which has the option of sending this fee to a collection agency. Talk about a slap in the face.To compound the situation even more upon receiving the letter that my account was overdrawn and I had to pay this remaining fee (months after the account was closed with a $0 balance), I of course attempted to call and reconcile what I thought was an error. US Bank must be scamming so many customers with their fees that their recovery department cannot even handle it. It took me two days and probably well over an hour of my time at work to get through and understand what this was all about. This process was so frustrating that I am so glad to know that I am very close to no longer having any interactions with US Bank whatsoever. If you want to make your customers feel like dirt, combine poor to mediocre customer service with fees around every corner. Add to this formula an overwhelmed recovery department (read too many fees) that treats a person like a number and simply processes you in order to get their money. The result is a customer who will never use US Bank for any reason again for the rest of my life.

US bank is just a smart group of con artists. There have been multiple times they have charged me over $200 in fees things that weren't my fault. Then they have the audacity to tell me "Well, we'll give you half of your money back". There was a $700 bounced check I received, so they put a $700 hold on my account. That was fine. THen they take out the $700 without releasing the hold, causing my "Available balance" to go down $1400. Then they charge me $230 in fees the next day for it, because of transactions I made that I had enough money for, if they didn't take away an EXTRA $700 from my account temporarily. Had a similar problem before, but it was because of the random order in which my purchases "cleared". I had the money when I used the card for all but one purchase, then they cleared the one I didn't have enough money for first, in order to put me int he negative so all other charges ($20 in charges), would result in a $190 overdraft fee. This is ridiculous. Both time I had to argue with them for over an hour before they'd even lift a finger to do anything about it. They treated me like I was an idiot, then tried to get me out the door to stop wasting their time. One of the bankers (Not even a teller), basically told me I just didn't understand, and to stop talking (In a slightly more "professional" way, but not much of one. She started dialing a number on the phone while I was still trying to talk to her). I'm closing my account tomorrow, as long as they don't charge me an additional $70 in overdraft fees tonight for the 2 purchases my girlfriend made earlier in the morning that they conveniently "forgot" to mention to me while i was there. I'm too broke to pay off those $70 now with all the other fees they've charged me.Never, EVER, bank with US Bank.

US bank are con artists-very good at what they do too. Especially if you are employed by more of them. I opened my account with US Bank a little over a year ago. We did it because my son was in the NICU in Minneapolis MN and I live 3 hours away so I needed a bank that was in my home town and in the cities. Didn't do any research (My fault). Things went great except when I decided to set up my car insurance to come out automatically out of my account to get a discount. I am 24 and my husband is 25 so our ages make our rate high. Thus wanting the discount. We live pay check to pay check, so our goal was to only have the amount being withdrawn in the account. So when my pay check was automatically in I would leave the amount for the insurance in and withdraw the rest. Worked perfectly until US bank caught on to the fact that they were not making any money off me. Then they BACK DATED my insurance payment to before my paycheck was deposited and got me for 37.50 in over draft fees. We were told about the horrendous fees when we opened the account so we were very careful not too. After that I was like okay, well its all taken care of now since my check was deposited the next day. Then....We were tight on money so I started purchasing the minutes for my phone online because I can buy a smaller amount which lasts long enough for me then I can in stores. I was charged for the purchase but never received my minutes TWICE and the bank would not do anything about it, and the phone company would let me type my number into the automated system then hang up on me. Needless to say I stopped doing that. Next, I had about 50.00 in my account, went to the ATM and withdrew 40.00. A week later I checked my account online only to discover I was in the whole by almost 300.00!! How you ask? I was double charged for the ATM withdraw! Over drafted of 30.00 + 37.50 + 72.00 in the stupid 8.00 a day bull shit. Then I get the stupid mailer AFTER I have fixed my account and filed a dispute. About a 2 weeks after I file my dispute US bank puts 20.00 in my account as a "good faith deposit" If US bank is in the wrong then I get to keep the 20.00, but if I am then I don't and the withdraw it right away. However I don't know that until another 2 weeks when I get the letter that says, "a while ago we deposited a 20.00 good faith deposit, we have decided that yes we are in the wrong." and thats it. Nothing about my overdrafts or anything else! So I go into my local branch to figure out what is going on with that money they owe me. I am told by my local banker (who turns out to be my daughters kindergarten teachers husband btw) that it can take up to 90 days for them to deposit it, but it has been 2 weeks since the decision so if I don't get it I am supposed to go back in two weeks. I do and again told the same thing. So repeat and rinse, three more times before I get fed up and just wait. When the 90 day limit has been met I call the toll free number and sit on the phone for 4 hours and and been transferred back and forth 8 times and hung up on 5 times before I find some who will listen without putting me on hold and hanging up on me. Finally they say that they will give me 100.00 and I say no you stupid idiots owe me 293.00 and I am not going to leave you alone until I get it. So he says let me put you on hold again and talk to my manger again, comes back like 10min later and says your account has been credited 293.00 good bye and hangs up. I go online and check and its there. However it took 4 months to get it!! So even after that I still was a gluten for punishment and kept the account open. So next,I decided to go back to the keep only a small amount in there for the insurance, but my husband and I got tired of that and liked the ease of using a debit card. BIG MISTAKE! Even though my excel personal banking sheet thingy that my mother in law gave me to help make sure my account wouldn't overdraft it still did 5x for at 200.00 to 400.00 EACH TIME. All because of HOW THEY DECIDE TO DEBIT YOUR ACCOUNT!!!! I would be putting my debits and credits into my program and never having any negative amounts, yet somehow I would overdraw, not know because I stopped using the online system-its stupid and they lie- until I would get the mailer and that is about a week after. (remember you are racking up 8.00 a day at this point) STUPID STUPID MONEY HUNGRY BANK!! So that still wasn't enough for me to leave. Why you ask? Im lazy! I had started working for a new company (Kelly services-st cloud mn branch sucks never work for them ever they dont pay you!) So here is the final straw! I am closing my account tomorrow with my husband and brother in law! My paycheck is DD into my account every thursday, however when they failed to pay me and one ATM withdraw was overdrafted alerting US Bank to debit the 3 other pending ones to over draft a total of 4 times. Yes 150.00 just in fees. Then Kelly's tells me they wont pay them because pay day isnt thursday its friday. My check wasn't deposited until Tuesday the following week. (I had to remind them on Friday that they didn't pay me.) And for some of you who might say well did you turn in your card on time? YES. I drop my 4 yr old off at school at 8:10 am go to my site fill out my card get it signed then fax it right then and there. Then do my other running around until I pick up my daughter at 10:45! Thus proving that I turned it in before 11:00. My coworkers also vouched for me. So next I allow that paycheck and my next paycheck to absorb the fees ( account has been negative now for 7 days) I notice that my netflix bill is pending and say crap, can't wait borrow money from my in laws to cover it, YESTERDAY! However they back dated the netflix charge by TWO days to get the overdraft fee!!! Ya. So I am still sitting 40 something in the hole and my brother in law is going to loan us the money to bring it up so when I get my paycheck next week my family has some money to live off of. SO then I decide to look at my receipts and my online statement all the way back to the first overdraft and guess what I have discovered. Anytime we used the debit card the funds would pend for a MAXIMUM of 3 days if we had over 200.00 in the account, But if we would get lower than 100.00 they would pend until right before my next pay day then all hit at once but back dating to before my check causing overdrafts. Also ONLY the ones that were overdrated would be the ones that would be back dated. So what I have learned is they learn your routine then start making your debits hit your account when your too low to have them, not when they should. And this is in the day and age when checks are debited from accounts the same day you write them. BAD BAD banking policies. So if you are smarter than I am and researching this bank as a possible place to trust with your money PLEASE dont! You WILL regret it. I am closing my account with my brother in law tomorrow, and going to open an account at a local bank that I trust. I would do a credit union, but the credit union we have in town isn't great either. They higher very unintellegent tellers. We had our tax refund deposited into my husbands account. He then proceeded to withdraw 2 grand leaving 2 grand in there. We used the money to fund us living in the cities while our son was in the NICU and while down there we used the debit card after the cash ran out. (We thought he would be home sooner than he was). When we finally came home we had access to a computer and we checked the balance of that account against my records and we had 2000.00 more than what we should. How you ask? The stupid teller gave us the money but didnt debit our account! Needless to say I called immediately and had it fixed!

It is a very good bank. I always found it very helpful and very prompt in dealings. I rate the bank as an excellent one.

"Every bank is going to have rules xyz" -Probably true. It's why I stick with my credit union. I opened a US Bank account to have the "convenience" of multiple ATM's and and branch locations only to be told that I can only deal with the branch where I opened my account...Which is six hours away from where I currently live. "If you were an employee of US Bank like me, you'd see the error in your ways" -Why don't you check the forums of former and current US Bank employees who have more of the same problems as the "uniformed" and "irresponsible" people than you can count. Or why not ask the branch manager who informed me she had experienced the same problem as myself, then refused to fix it. I bet she has proper knowledge in finances and the policy of US Bank. It's not all black and white as they would like you to believe. There are many who are not in a position to fight. Who do not have the time or money to waste doing so. Who do not have the knowledge to maintain their stance. I'm glad to do my part and be able to have faught (and won). US Banks makes their money off the poor who do not have the opportunity to do so. There are special places reserved for people like that.

I was referred to this bank in Colorado. I had the reserve line of credit, which seems nice, in fact, is a big disaster waiting to happen for someone like me and probably many others that have this. If you rack up over the limit, you then get overdraft fees that are astronomical. I also, then made a mistake to get a credit card, so I had to go down to my Credit Union in New Mexico to get a loan out today, to pay it off with a lower interest. I will be closing the US Bank account and opening an account with a credit union in Colorado. I would advise not using this bank, it's not worth getting the charges/fees and them preying on you.

DO NOT EVER GET A CREDIT CARD WITH THIS BANK! I had a $7,000 limit, paid more than the amount due, weeks before it was due and never came even close to 1/2 my limit. After a few years of being a good customer, they simply - without notice - lowered my limit to $800. When I inquired as to why, the customer service rep could not answer. I asked to speak to someone who did know since they made the decision, someone at the bank has to know why. I spoke with 3 people before I got the standard answer of "you'll be receiving a letter stating the reason" but it looks like something negative on your credit report. When I explained that I have nothing negative that would not have been there years ago when they gave me the card and the original limit, they said they review accounts every 6 months and that this was their decision. I then emailed the bank, got the same response, and told them I would be paying the $600 balance and closing my account. They emailed back with, "We are sorry you feel this way and we appreciate your business and your support." Are you freakin' kidding me? What they did was damage my credit score! They don't appreciate my business and I don't support them. They paid their TARP funds back so they wouldn't be subjected to government regulations which would have kept them from lower my limit and suddenly increasing your percentage and charging ridiculous overdraft fees. THEY ARE GREED PERSONIFIED. DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THIS BANK. DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD FROM THIS BANK.

US BANK are thieves. We had 2 payroll checks returned by mistake from the boss,s bank. The boss gave us the money to put back in.US BANK still returned checks we had out after the money was in the bank.So we called the bank here in Rapid City SD.Asked them why? The lady that answerd the phone said well your boss is paying it all so why do you care? They got us for 315.in charges.the 1st time the 2nd time they got us for 37.50.So we called another guy higher up in the bank.He removed the charges and got it straight agian. The next day the lady we were origanally dealing with took the money back agian and said because of how you all talked to us its better off if we close your account so we took the money back.DO NOT GO TO US BANK THEY WILL STEAL EVERYTHING FROM YOU.THEY GOT US FOR CLOSE TO 500.IN 10 DAYS.

US Bank is out for making money off the backs of its customers in every way it can, even with their "gift" debit cards. I recently retired and received a "US Visa Card" with a nice amount of money from my coworkers. I know each person put in a good amount of money. LIttle did they know that US Bank would scam me out of 25% of the total amount. Here's what they did. I was down to the last $75 dollars of the card and used it to buy approximately $70 worth of merchandise. The store checked the balance and let it go. When I checked online (if you call, the bank deducts $1.50 or so from the account for each call, so you have to use a computer) I found I had a negative balance of $15.00. I had never heard of such a thing on a debit card. I checked several more times and it stayed the same. I decided to put the card away and forget about it. Then 18 months later I received a letter from US Bank telling me that I had a balance of $12.00, and that it would go to the state unclaimed funds office if I didn't contact the Bank to get it out. Well, I went to a branch office and found it would cost me $15.00 to take out the $12.00. More bullsxzt! I did some sleuthing online and found that the last purchase I made with the card was never reimbursed to the vendor. The bank kept the money, and after nine months it starting deducting so much each month (all in small print on the Visa Card info) until the card was no longer valid. When I found out, I had a fit and told the manager of the local branch that I would go to the state dept. of financial regulation and let as many people as possible know what a scam US Bank is perpetrating on the public. Stay away from US Bank if you want to keep YOUR money.

this piece of shit bank is the worst. i banked with them in cincinnati for 7 years at 250 east fifth st. no more and it feels great!. good branch managers, but the top two floors in Minnapolis should be emptied. whatever, floor 36 and 37 with all the lawyers and SVPs.
ScamBusterz 12/16/2009
This is the worst bank that I have EVER been with! I also made a mistake of going over by $5 which I admit to and they overdrafted me 8 times right before christmas. I already had one thousand dollars worth of bills to pay. So now I can no longer pay my bills and I cannot get Christmas gifts for my family. The way that they get people is to take out the larger amounts first and then pile on the small amounts so instead of you having one fee you will have several. I am changing banks immediately!
kristiblank 12/11/2009
I will admit that I made a mistake with my record keeping, and I did overdraft ONE charge, and it was by $1.14. All of a sudden, I have 16 overdraft charges of $37.50 each, totalling to $600 for overdrafting $1.14!!!!!!!!!!!!! And some overdrafted that had ALREADY gone through! But because the check was dated prior to those charges, they BACKcharged me overdraft fees!I call customer service, they put me through to my branch manager who takes off $100, and says, "That's all the computer will let me do." Since when do computers make decisions??? There is a problem when a manager of a bank can't do anything about an account. She was very pleasant and sympathetic and wanted to help me and said she would do everything she could, but when it came down to it, she couldn't do more than $100. So I am left owing USBank $500, which I don't have sitting around. That is my rent money! All for $1.14 in actual overdraft!!DO NOT bank with this bank. I am reporting them to my Attorney General. The US Government is banning banks from charging overdraft charges if the amount is less than $10. That would have saved me, but unfortunately, that doesn't take effect until next quarter and in the words of the lovely USBank customer service rep, "There's NOTHING we can do until then."Yes, I made a mistake in my bookeeping by $1.14, but it should NOT cost me $600 and it is absolutely absurd that they don't have the decency to actually let a HUMAN being make the decision on this rather than a computer. There is a good reason why the government is going to be regulating this, and I believe USBank is one of the main problem banks and exactly why it was decided to regulate. At work today, I walked into the teacher's lounge and a completely unrelated discussion was going on, and 3 other teachers were talking about how they are closing their USBank accounts today after work because of problems they've had. I told them I'd join them... so tomorrow, our USBank branch is going to have 4 back-to-back cancellations and I can guarantee you we won't be quiet about it while we're in there either. This is absurd and in need of a class action lawsuit!!!!!
Hannah04 12/10/2009
I am absolutely disgusted with US Bank. They have overdrafted me multiple times- by a few dollars- and charged ridiculous fees so that it ends up being over a hundred dollars. They also don't tell me when my account is overdrafted so the overdraft fees accumulate without my knowledge. When I tried to sign up for overdraft protection, they denied me because I don't have enough income. Excuse me, but people who have tons of income won't need overdraft protection! This bank is not at all concerned about their customers; they're #1 priority is too take people's money away.
Bunnielove89 12/08/2009
I rated them 1 star simply because I can not give them 0. I HATE this bank. I have overdrafted twice. That is it. The first time I did it I called them and they told me they could do the one time curtesy of reversing the fee if I came in and applied for overdraft protection. Well, I went in and applied. I (of course) was denied since I have no credit. They did not reverse the fees. They did however split the overdraft/daily negative fee in half with me. ( I still ended up paying 150 dollars). To which I was a little upset but hey at least they took some of it off. The second time was me overdrawing by a dollar. I was out of town for a week so I couldn't get money to the account. When I got back I immediatly made my account positive. I have been back for about 4 days now with my account positive. I JUST went to use my debit card at the store and my card was DECLINED. I called U.S. Bank and asked why my card was declined when my account is in the positive. The lovely lady on the phone told me that my card was turned off due to the overdraft and I have to wait until the branch manager comes in and reviews my account. She may or may not want to turn my card back on but I will not know until TOMORROW afternoon. I don't put the blame on the bank for my account being overdrawn. That is entirley my fault. I, however, have a problem with the overdraft fees, the negative balance fee, and with the service. I have delt with the bank for other reasons and the answer I always get is "the branch manager will have to look into it but she is currently not here". They then promise to call you the next day and if you are very lucky they will call you later that week. One time I didn't get an answer back for a month. I am not exaggerating.I do NOT suggest anyone open an account with them.

I had so many unique experiences with lot of Credit card companies. But USBank is different. With an attractive postal offer from US Bank with 0% APR on Purchases/Balance Transfers and 30 days free Balance transfer. I went ahead and proceed with the application. I got the card after 7 days but the Credit Card APR summary included along with the Credit Card shocked me. The summary said 13% on the Balance Transfer which is different than the one I was told during the application. So i called Customer service and they still have 0% APR on Balance transfer on their system. She cant able to understand why the misprint. But the lady had a different bad news. She said there is an 3% fee on Balance transfers which is different from which was on the Offer (30 days free Balance transfer). I am not sure why they send the offer first of all if their entire process is messed up.
mizor47 11/22/2009
USBank was the worst bank I have ever used. they charge excessive fees, allow you to take more out of your Atm then you have available so they can charge you overdraft charges and then tack on $8 a day until you clear it up. in my case I worked out of town and could not get back for 5 weeks. so for a 2 dollar error my total was 360 dollars. how did they go broke??? read the fine print if you are concidering opening an account. and then don't

If you choose US Bank, then hope you never have to have a problem with home damage or repair. Insurance paid for the loss quickly to me and the bank but US Bank has been stalling with sending me any of the money so that I can fix my house. It has been 3 months now and I am running out of my time limit to get the repairs done. Every time I turn in paperwork they create new excuses and documents as to why they can't pay me or the company that came in to assist me when the damage occurred. I talked with 6 different representatives and got 7 different ways of how it is supposed to be happening.

I HATE US BANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After having an account with them for ONLY 4 MONTHS I have paid them over $900 in overdraft fees. For things like $4.96 at Starbks, or $12.00 at the grocery store, they would charge me $37.50 PER TRANSACTION. Then they have a negative balance fee... $8.00 a day. I'm leaving this bank and going back to my credit union!!! F*ck this jacked up piece of sh*t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Usbank has had a horrible reputation going back to the 1960s when they were First Minneapolis. Recently I reluctantly opened a business account with them because I do trade shows across the country and needed a nationwide bank to make cash deposits when on the road. Six weeks after I opened my account their security department sent me a letter telling me they were closing my account in two weeks due to "irregular" activity. Apparently they thought I was a drug dealer with my huge $5000 deposits!! The only positive thing I have to say about them is the branch manager where I opened the account (inside a Safeway store) tried to reason with the jerk who wanted to close my account. I didn't need the hassle, and went to another equally rotten nationwide bank who at least dosen't think I am a criminal.
Chazmo08 10/21/2009
This bank is absolutely terrible. There have been numerous occasions when I would get paid on a Thursday. I work 8-5 so I can't deposit it until around 5:30 Thursday. They will hold the checks until MIDNIGHT on MONDAY NIGHT! That's absolutely ridiculous. That's holding it for 5 days. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! So after receiving numerous overdraft fees due to having rent due on the 1st and such (which I get paid the 1st and 15th), I decided to get smart and start cashing my checks and then just depositing the cash the next day. So on Thursday night I went on cashed my check, on Friday after work I went to the bank, the teller told me the cash would be made available IMMEDIATELY (which is how it should be, it's cash for gosh sake), and then they proceeded to hold my CASH deposit until Monday at midnight. Needless to say I AGAIN received an overdraft fee for my rent. I was BEYOND livid. SO I call the bank, their customer service skills are absolutely atrocious, and they try and tell me that if I deposit after 4 o clock then they wont put it in until the next business day. I proceeded to tell the customer service rep that this was ridiculous as I was told it would be made immediately available and she told me it's my problem not their and HUNG UP ON ME! I called them back and let them know that they are literally running the WORST bank in America, and even though I have been banking with them for almost 6 (who knows why I stayed this long) years, I would be closing every single one of my accounts (which I have 3 and a credit card) and switching to First National. Best move of my life. Take it from me and the majority of people on this page, DO NOT USE US BANK!!!!!!

Absolutely aweful....From their customer service to their "I dont care about the people attitude." They over charge you if you misbalance your checking account. In my case to the tune of $400. I was charged $400 for a $50 misbalance. I called to correct it and try and bring my account up. They turned me away...all the customer service rep. said was "Its your responsibility not ours." True yes, but why charge someone so much. I will not be banking with people that try to steal from their customers like this. Or from people that have a kick you when your down sort of attitude. I'm in the military so I travel alot, and mistakes happen sometimes in balancing that you cant figure out immediately. My advice if youre looking into banking with US Bank don't, and if youre currently banking with them. Get out while you still can. No one deserves to have $400 just taken from them. Especially in this day and age. If a bank whats to charge you an overage charge they should do it by percentage, not per transaction.

I recently moved to MN and had no other choice than US Bank so I opened up an acct. I was very dissapointed by the lack of product knowledge when inquiring about the flex perks program by both the bank acct manager and the call center customer service agents. I signed up for the flex perks bonus rewards debit card and received the frequent flyer flex perks card instead. I spent about an hot on the phone with 3 different departments in order to get this card cancelled and to order the correct card. Today (2 weeks later) I finally received the card I changed my order to only to find out the $20 fee for the incorrect card was not credited to my acct. U found myself having to call customer service once again to get this refunded. I am very dissatisfied with the attention and lack of diligence taken by the employees at US Bank. And given the numerous mistakes to a new customer there had been no follow up. Also the "rewards program" is not very rewarding as you would have to spend $10,000 in order to redeem the first tier of rewards. This is pritty greedy especially since I'm being charged an annual fee of $20 for a card that will never benefit me. Also the log in criterea for Internet banking is a complete waste of time and gives people a false sense of security. These questions are weak and anyone with access to public information would have access to this information. In conclusion, I want nothing further to do with this bank and to fuel my argument for bad banking, dispute this horrific and time consuming first impression I will be out $25 to close my acct!To this I say, at an all time low, let's further pillage our "valued customers".

Wow, reading horror stories about this horrible bank brings me flashbacks to a year ago where, as a part time college student who made less than $10K that year ended up giving $1000; no, not to a good cause, like tithing or charity, no the f***ing bank! It started during spring break. I went to cash my check from working at the school cafeteria at the local bank in this really small town. Great, so I go back home for the break and start using my debit card. All of a sudden, my account is negative after five days. Total loss : about $300 in overdraft fees because the check hadn't cleared over the weekend. Then, during summer, I was working at a stupid deli job making minimum wage, with no car to get around, I had to walk to the bank across the street on my break to deposit my check on a Friday at their drive thru window. I was there before 5 pm yet they would not accept my deposit until the following Monday. So I went out and used my card, only to rack up a negative $500 balance. I remember finding out because my card was denied, yes, only after the bank had let me use it several times on tiny little purchases. I remember getting on the phone and they couldn't do anything for me. Some customer service... Going to the branch didn't help much either. The lady there only waived one overdraft fee so that my next paycheck would bring me back up to zero. Did I mention this stupid bank charges $7 every day you have a negative balance. I thought I'd be smart and just go open a new bank account somewhere. Not so... The next year, I decided to deposit some money (in the back of my head thinking "I bet the bank will try to steal my money again"). Of course, this time US Bank allowed the IRS to put a levy on my account, all because of some stupid audit on my taxes because of my dad's accountant. I wanted to barf. Went and opened a Bank of the West account and the govt. didn't ever try to take my money out (I eventually paid them back). So far, Bank of the West has been a hundred times better than US BANK. It seems however, that the best way to bank is at the grocery store (they are always the best and the friendliest). Here's the thing about US Bank, their branches have different policies. I started out with US Bank in the local grocery store. It was great, they always did me favors, canceled a few overdrafts for me, everything cleared on time, etc...but when I moved around, I found that other branches did not have the same depositor policies, so I would not get my money cleared as fast depending on when it was deposited. This caused a lot of confusion and the bank would never wave those fees.

Heres my story. I started with commerce bank way back when. The service was exceptional!! I was very pleased with the level of service with commerce. Well all that changed about a year after they changed to TD.Customer service blows now!!! The branch now hands everything off to the call center where you are put on hold for very long times and have to re-submit your identifying information to the next operator. Lately while in Argentina my card stopped working despite having a permanent note on my account that I am a pilot and travel extensively and not to shut it down for suspected fraud. They shut it down anyway. Told me I needed to come to a branch and get a new one. Being in Argentina for 30 days made that impossible. I have a second personal account so I figured I could transfer funds from my business account and use that atm card. NOT!!!The online system would not allow it. Transfers worked many times before now it won’t allow it. So I have to take cash advances on credit cards to feed myself.Additionally about two months ago someone cloned my atm card in Colombia and charger 6000 dollars in goods. I called the fraud department and they credited me 4000 immediately but told me I would need to wait up to ten days for the remaining 2000 to be credited to my account. It’s been almost 60 days now and im still waiting despite many phone calls!!Now they tell me the person who is handling my investigation is on vacation till October 16 and I will need to wait till she gets back before the investigation can proceed. WHAT!!! I could not believe what I was hearing. You mean to tell me there is no one else who can handle this matter. Incredible. They also told me they never told me it would be 10 days for them to credit the final 2k. BOLD FACE LIARS!!!It’s a shame the idiots in TD management didn’t realize why commerce bank received so many new customers in the short time they were in existence.THEY LEFT OTHER BANKS BECAUSE OF SHITTY CUSTOMER SERCVICE!!! AND NOW YOU’RE DOING THE VERY SAME THING!!!TD is not nearly as customer oriented as commerce was. Im changing banks again as soon as I get home.Bill Sample

US BANK closed our account after one day of a negative overdraft balance. I went in and talked with a banker to find out what happened and come to find out that they closed it because I have another account, that they messed up and had closed, that I am fighting to get cleared. So after talking to the banker and the branch Manager we had it reopened, paid the past due balance, and was told all would be ok as of Monday. Mind you I have my 6 mo old baby with me and its pouring raining outside, so this was a HUGE inconvenience to me!! And one that I do not wish upon anyone...and do you think they would offer to refund one of the over drafts or the fee they charged us to close the account....NO! So, the account is reopened and they said the cash money would take at least 24 hrs to post to the account because their systems take 24 hrs to update...fine...I'll just keep an eye on it. So I check on Monday.....nothing. I check on Tueday.....still not there.....My husband goes to use his debit card to get some cash from his paycheck deposit....and our CARDS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED!!!! HOLY COW, REALLY?! Can they honestly think for one second that this is ok?? As of this morning(Wednesday), they still haven't posted the cash from Friday and my card is still useless!!!! My hubby called and talked to the branch manager this morning and told them if he doesn't find our money that we're filing a theft report! So, he took my hubby's cell # and promised to call by end of business day! I swear to god I am gonna BLAST them all over the news and internet and any where else I can think of, this is unacceptable!! What the h*ll do they think, that $200 isn't a big deal....that we're just poor people, so who cares that they've taken four days to help us?! And to think I had to drag my 6 mo old daughter out inthe rain who was sick in the first place, just make me boil with anger!! I had NO choice but to go talk to someone at the branch because the phone customer service people are STUPID!! Good God, I guess I have to take it into my own hands and bringing the spot light to them and their scheming ways via the news and internet!!!! DO NOT USE US BANK EVER, THEY ARE THEIVES AND WILL NOT LOOK OUT FOR YOUR BEST BANKING INTERESTS!!!!

I was at B of A and thought THEIR overdraft fees were bad. I rarely had one, but when I slipped up by MISTAKE or for a MINOR overdraft, they charged 35.00 and that is alot of money to me. I have NEVER left my account overdraft more than a day or so. So I switched over to US Bank when they told me their overdraft fee was 19.00. HAHAHA. What they don't tell you is that they charge 19.00 for the FIRST overdraft. Subsequent charges go up to 37.50, and they will charge EACH overdraft, even in the same day. And on top of that- 8.00 for every day kept overdraft. So just try to keep up! Someon is getting EXTREMELY rich while the peeons in customer service are whored out for 12.00 an hour to take my rants. WORST< MOST UNETHICAL bank ever! US Bank makes B of A look very good!!!!

US Bank has been my fiancée and i worst nightmare. Started off the first month was good everything seemed well all the people seemed nice to. Then the next month we started noticing things like if there was like 5 dollars or less in your account it seemed to over draft you...and sometimes thats all we are gonna have in the account. A lot of people now live pay check to pay check like we do. Then from there it so much money to get out...you get out and it happens right over again and your not even negative. I would say having even a penny in the account your not negative. When you get under that then yes over draft is necessary but not until its over drawn. Also my fiancée pay bills online and sometimes they wont go through for a few days or not show up at all so you never really know how much money you do have. We had a huge issue with his card being charged twice from a company we made sure to call right away they said that they would fix everything and we have yet to see the reverse over draft charge go in to the account so now every paycheck we get is being taken away because we are waiting on them to give us our money back. Don't waste your time or money here just to get screwed over. Don't get anything from them loans credit cards or anything they will find some way to take your money.
Phegan28 09/20/2009
Okay, before my review, I must add a retort to a few statement left by either employees or people with sizable accounts:Surprised you don't know this... A LOT of people live paycheck to paycheck. So they have a system, so to say. Same thing, week to week. No worries. Then all of a sudden a check from the company you work for (and have been depositing at the same time for months, even years) doesn't clear for 4 business days (and for no reason), the fees rack up, and next thing you know, you can't live. Pay your mortgage/rent, food, etc...People know their finances. They know the system. US Bank reserves the right to bend that system to it's will. Being able to take any payments/withdraws/deposits and rearrange them as they seem fit, no matter what order, is the biggest legal con ever established. And to accuse them of being so stupid that they can't do something simple as to count is rude, as rude as US Bank's lame customer service. And don't even bring up the ugly online account system. It is misleading. I hereby actually accuse them of FALSE POSTING FOR FINANCIAL BENEFIT. Simple. So if you have a huge account, of course you're not going to have problems. If you're an employee and posted a good review, while ragging on customers, well... you're just tools. My experience with the bank was terrible. I had over 300 dollars in overdraft fees, and they admitted it was their fault (glitch), and only gave me back one (totaling 37.50). Dealing with customer service is about as painful as a root canal. I feel for each and every one of you, those who got screwed not by illegal acts, but by legal acts bent to the point that they should be illegal. But with 99% of these, unfortunately you agreed to the small print, like me, and therefor are responsible. Just close it, and leave it. Eventually, there will be no customers left. They will close. And another evil will be banished.

This is the worst bank you can bank with. Their customer service is the worst I have encountered, I have had bad experiences with national banks, but this trumps it all. It is by far the worst I have come across. The 1-800 number for customer service (both bank accounts and credit cards) are a bunch of the most unprofessional goons I have ever come across. I believe their performance is graded based on how rudely they can treat customers, and this permeates down the line to the staff at the branch and even the tellers at the drive-through. They have been loosing customers and employees steadily, and I am one of them. Me and my wife, we had both our checking and savings accounts with them as well as 3 credit cards, well now we have no accounts, just the cards, which we won't ever use again. My wife had her account with them for 4 years, and joined her because of the convinence even though we heard a lot of not-so-good reviews. But while opening the account it was all great, however after the initial visit everything started changing, and now down the line it has become such a dreadful experience for both of us to bank with them. None of the departments talk to each other, nobody knows what the other department is doing, and the person who suffers is me, the customer. Their favorite line is NO, WE CANNOT DO IT; and it is NOT while we ask for a loan or a credit line increase that they say this, it is for any small thing that you call in to request them for. Anybody who is considering opening an account or starting a relationship with US Bank, and is smart to search through the reviews before doing it. I have just one piece of advice, DON'T DO IT FOR YOUR OWN SAKE. It is not a pleasant experience and it only can go further down from here, we ran with our money to another bank, we had a combined income of around $6000 coming in every month, US bank is not getting that business anymore. They do think and they let you know that it is not a great loss for them, and trust me they don't shy away from letting you know the same.
Gabriellest 09/01/2009
The payment I made was never received and of course I was charged and my credit limit was lowered. Long story short...I paid and I was told in order to get my limit reinstated I would have to answer a few questions about my income and such with a supervisor. I decided to speak with my husband first and then called back had to leave a message. When I called back again I got a @#$#% named Cliff. Well little Cliffie was not a very nice person and told me that I had to submit it in writing...after I was told twice I was to do it over the phone. He could have said it nicely, but nooooo he was a total you know what...who do these people think they are? This bank sucks!!!!

Us Bank is crap!!!! I tried to cash a check from a person who had an account with them and was told I had to pay $5 to cash the check!!! WTF!! Isnt it difficult enough for us hard working people to make ends meet and now you rip offs want to charge us for cashing a check on one of your account holders?? OHHHH I could have done it for free if I had an account with them. Am I supposed to open an account with every bank I get a check written from ?? get real!! i will tell anyone and everyone who will listen to NEVER use US bank for anything!! Unless you have one of their flyers and are out of toilet paper LMAO !!

Giving them one star is way too much credit. Especially since they gave me a negative. So I got my first bank account with Downey Savings, I swear, best bank in the world. They didn't trip when I'd put in a couple hundred dollars worth of money from a check into their bank. It was right there and I was able to take it out. I could take out about 1000 in one day. And more in debit card transactions. They only got me once for something that wasn't my fault and only made me pay 25. No worries though. They notified me IMMEDIATELY and took it from my other money that was in the account. Now, US Bank took over Downey...I'm so fucking pissed now. When I used to use it, don't use it anymore because it is garbage, I would put my paycheck in at the desk and it wouldn't show for about 3 days. Bullshit first of all on their part because if the previous bank could do it, why can't they? Now I can't take out my whole 600 in the account like I'd like. I can only take a max of 500. HEY BITCH. GUESS WHAT?? IT'S MY FUCKING MONEY! I'll tell you when I want it and how much of it I want, don't tell me shit. Then also they really started getting heavy on charging me for "overdrawn checks". Well I don't use checks. I only use cash or debit. And I used debit online to purchase a game. The way it works online is that it checks your account for the funds and then automatically takes it out. No sir, they felt like fucking me over. So when they took over my good bank, they combined mine and my mom's accounts together into one. So she kept taking money out of it and shit, and the last time I ever looked at that account was 3 months ago and I had 2 bucks in it. I left it alone and didn't do anything else with it. Now, since my mom had been charging shit to my account, it went into the negatives, even though I don't have that credit card shit where you can go beyond zero. And then they give me a call TODAY!, 3 months later telling me that I've been in the negatives the past 3 months and everyday that it is a negative, I am charged 8 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I owe them 310.02! FUCK YOU US BANK! You give a bad name to the US!Don't ever go to this bank. They will screw you over. I'm done with them.In fact, I'm done with all banks. It's just me and my Nix check cashing. May be expensive, but hey, at least they won't cheat me like banks will.

U.S. Bank says they guarantee their customer service? Really? It does say that right on their web site and the people that answer their phones even state that. My experience, however, definitely differs. I recently paid off a line of credit. My checking account had a balance of .97. My intent was to close both accounts. A few days after I paid off the line of credit, I attempted to check the balance online to make certain that the check had cleared so I could close the account. The online system was not working, so I stopped at an ATM to check the balance. Little did I know that U.S. Bank charges $2 to check your balance on what they consider a "foreign" ATM, or not one of theirs. So you see the problem. My .97 checking account balance was going to be short the $2 foreign ATM fee by $1.03. Monday, I get a note from U.S. Bank telling me that I had insufficient funds to cover a transaction. Impossible, since I hadn't used my checking account for some time. I call U.S. Bank, my insufficient fund total is now at $17. I went to U.S. Bank yesterday, my insuffient fund fees are now $41. Are you kidding me? On -$1.03? Absolutely ludicrous. I'll be happy to spread the word on their "service fees", but it goes beyond those ridiculous fees. It took me no less than three phone calls to get someone to talk to me when I asked for an explanation. I was led to believe that the fees would be refunded, only to be contacted a day later with the news that the bank I opened my account at was going to deny the refund due to a previous insufficient fund issue two years ago AND the fact that I planned to close the accounts. I called that U.S. Bank branch twice to discuss the issue with Ryan, the CSM. Do you think he had the courtesy to return my call? Nope, never happened. What a crappy way to treat your customers. While I may have reconsidered closing my accounts before this, believe me, not only will I close my accounts, but I won't hesitate to offer my opinion of U.S. Bank. They live up to their reputation of being a fee-happy, arrogant big bank who thinks they don't need their customers.
really? 08/21/2009
Where to start? First off, forget the debit card. Every time you enter your pin #, your charged a fee. I opened my account 2 years ago. The first year was fine without any problems or headaches. Recently, I was laid off due to this government's administration killing the private sector and small businesses. Recently, I took a short term position that was only to be 2 hours worth of work and I would get paid $30. I checked my "Available Balance" online (which changes by the hour regardless of any pending transactions) and had a total of $57 (with 3 pending transactions that have already been deducted from my available balance). I had to run to Kinko's to print and fax documentation so I could get paid the job that I took on. The total of the 3 transactions made came to a whopping $8.06 (Note: These transactions were made before 5 pm which means that they should have cleared at midnight, the same day of the transaction). Later that evening, I wrote a check for $20. I ended up checking my account balance 2 days later and noticed that I was -$300. OK...so I over drafted...no big deal....except that the 3 transactions from Kinko's were the primary reason for the ridiculous over draft fee. I went into the local office and asked for the manager. He wouldn't see me. When I asked to see if the bank could consolidate the 3 Kinko's overdraft charges into one, since this was done within 5 minutes, all done at the same store, and the transactions only came to a total of $8.06, they refused. Anyone who has ever been into Kinko's knows that they have a credit card slot for the copiers, one for the fax machine, one per printer, and even one per computer....so you can't do just one overall payment for everything you did in the store. I then went home to contact customer support hoping I could get different outcome if I reach out to higher sources. They informed me that they have to contact the branch manager. I informed her that I had already spoken with the branch, and they refused to help me. She then stated that there is nothing that she could do then. Some GREAT customer service guys....seriously keep up the good work.To make matters even worse, I had asked about overdraft protection in the past and IT'S NOT OVERDRAFT PROTECTION!!!! It's a flipping joint account. When you take money out of that account, you have to replace it within a certain amount of time....otherwise, you get charged with a fee.I'll admit, I did overdraft and I'm more than willing to pay for it. But damn it, when someone is already hurting and struggling just trying to get by, the humanitarian thing to do is to lend out a helping hand, instead they just decided to wipe their feet on me while I was laying down. This bank is decent if your doing fine and they'll help blow wind in your sails, but as soon as you start hurting, they only feel it's necessary to kick you while your down. Trust your money with a different bank.

I have mixed feelings about us bank. I have had a lot of problems with the internet banking. I will make sure and leave like three dollars in my account and check back a couple days later and see that I am in the negative. I don't know where all my money goes. I am not an idiot. I keep track of my purchases on excel on my computer. Somehow I still come up with over draft fees and whatnot. One time they have actually been helpful and fixed an Itunes charge I never made. They even credited 88.00 to my account. Even though they have taken more then that in overdraft fees.. Still I had to spend countless hours on the phone to take of that one I tunes charge that made my account go to -357. I basically just leave 20 dollars in my account at all times now and never be alive the online statement. It seems liek they take out the charges when they please.

Where do I start?? First of all, my husband and I were tricked into getting a home mortgage with US Bank because they insisted they had a better deal because if we set up a Five Star Platinum account then we would get 25% off our loan origination fee. The loan officer told us to wait until the last minute to set up the platinum account because otherwise we wouldn't qualify. Great - $900 sounded good to us. When it came time to close (over a month later because it took so long for the loan office to get their stuff together) it turned out that they weren't paying ANYTHING (let alone $900!). The loan officer (which for one was IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of and had horrible customer service) told me it was because we had set up the platinum account too late and that we should've set it up right away (opposite of what he had told us originally). When we called him out on that, he then said it was because the seller had paid all of our closing costs and that there was no origination fee left to give us a discount on.... which made us irate. The loan officer knew all along how much closing costs were and how much the seller had agreed to pay, and yet he insisted we needed to go with them because we were going to get money back... which wasn't true at all. Cheated! As if that wasn't enough. The platinum account that we set up has now defaulted to a Five Star Silver package because the mortgage information still hasn't made its way from the mortgage department to the US Bank system.... (so according to the system we don't qualify for the platinum account). Now I have to call and be put on hold everyday to check to see if it's in their system yet. It's been 10 business days since we closed on our house and the information still hasn't made it through, and I'M the one who has to track the information down and RE-set up the account I already set up 3 weeks ago.... Horrible customer service, no coordination between departments and left us with a hassle that should have never been a problem in the first place. Frustrating to say the least!STAY AWAY!!!

For over five years I had a 9.99% interest with US Bank on a Visa card. Today I received a notice they are bumping it to 23.24%. I have never been late and only once exceeded the maxium on the card, which was immediately corrected. We have been depending on this card to see us through some tough times. With the balance on the card, our monthly finance charge would have jumped from about $200 to over $500. I have closed the account and locked in the 9.99% rate until the card is paid.***** DO NOT USE THEIR CREDIT CARD SERVICES - THEY CANNOT BE TRUSTED. *****

I have had my checking account with US Bank for as long as I can remember because my parents have been with them for quite awhile. I recently moved out of my parents house and so logically I wanted to remove my parents from my account. Well around that same time someone stole my identity and racked up about $1,000 of debt in my account. So USBank said they would refund these charges and do an investigation. So they started to refund them and my account was slowly, but surely coming back to black. Then one day I looked and there was almost 700 dollars worth of fees tacked onto my account!! So my dad was unable to remove is name from my account and they told us that if we didn't pay all that money back the account would be charged off and my parents credit, along with mine, would be ruined for ever. Needless to say I feel very taken advantange of. My car was also recently stolen and I have a car loan with USBank, well it's been about a week since the Insurance sent the check to the bank and still no pay off letter. Not only does this mean I'm unable to get another vehicle, it also means I'm going to have to make a payment on a car that is already paid off!!! I thought banks were supposed to keep your money safe?? Not steal it from you.

This bank is horrible and preys on college students. They are in your face at registration and tell you that everything is free. Then, when you go home for the summer and don't know that you are 80 CENTS overdrawn, they start piling on the fees. I would not recommend this bank to anyone. They are mean and will not work with you. The name US Bank is sinful because they should not be using a name with US in it at all.

When I got married a few years ago my wife was with US Bank and I needed a new bank so I joined. Horrible mistake. Just to start, it took my wife three attempts at bringing in all of her documentation that her last name was changed before they finally changed it in the system. It took me four attempts to get them to send me new checks and when they finally came in they had my wife's maiden name on them. They've charged us overdraft charges amounting to more than $1,200 over the last 3 years. At one point I made another trip into the bank to complain and had the bank manager (a very nice guy. They always put the ones that care up front so that they can screw you from behind) and I had him explain how I was charged overdraft charges. It took him and another bank employee about twenty minutes to figure out. They eventually did this by looking up information I did not have access to online. I could not have seen this coming by the way they run their system. They run it like that so that you are charged $37 a pop. I once asked another bank manager if he thought there was anything wrong with charging me $37 for overdrafting by $0.92 when I bought a coffee after my wife wrote a check I didn't know about. His response was, "No. You're using money that isn't your!" Then he continued to yell at me about stealing bank money. When I asked if they could just have the card declined next time we were going to overdraft he said, "No. Unfortunately there's no way we can do that." No. There's no way you want to do that. My favorite experience with them was when my wife was on the East coast for an internship for 3 months and US Bank called her at 11:30 at night. She was behind on her credit card payment so they were reminding her. She talked to them and told them that she had moved to the East coast and could they not call again so late. The woman on the phone apologized and said that she would put that down. I don't know where she put it down, but the next night and the rest of that week, they called progressively later. Each time she told them the situation. So I finally called them and told them to stop calling her so late, if anything, call me. The guy said that it was completely legal to call up to 9 o'clock in the evening. I told him again that she is no longer on the West coast and (now more forcefully, but not yelling) that they need to stop calling her so late. This jerk starts telling me with attitude that if I want to change anything that I can elect new officials. So apparently the only way to get US Bank to not be horrible to you is to elect new officials. Or you could simply stay away from them. I can't believe that it took us so long to leave. It was a beautiful day when we closed our checking account and it will be an even more beautiful day when we're done paying off the credit card... we will finally be free from that horrible, rude, incompetent, backstabbing, thieving institute.

Bank of America has unreasonable practices.I wrote a check 11:00am on Monday morning. I made a transfer to cover it 8:30am the next morning, and was charged $350 for overdraft. What is going on here?? Is anybody watching this? This is worse than dealing with a shylock?I defy anyone to walk into a bank with an uncertified check and walk out with cash.
