I HATE US BANK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After having an account with them for ONLY 4 MONTHS I have paid them over $900 in overdraft fees. For things like $4.96 at Starbks, or $12.00 at the grocery store, they would charge me $37.50 PER TRANSACTION. Then they have a negative balance fee... $8.00 a day. I'm leaving this bank and going back to my credit union!!! F*ck this jacked up piece of sh*t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Usbank has had a horrible reputation going back to the 1960s when they were First Minneapolis. Recently I reluctantly opened a business account with them because I do trade shows across the country and needed a nationwide bank to make cash deposits when on the road. Six weeks after I opened my account their security department sent me a letter telling me they were closing my account in two weeks due to "irregular" activity. Apparently they thought I was a drug dealer with my huge $5000 deposits!! The only positive thing I have to say about them is the branch manager where I opened the account (inside a Safeway store) tried to reason with the jerk who wanted to close my account. I didn't need the hassle, and went to another equally rotten nationwide bank who at least dosen't think I am a criminal.

This bank is absolutely terrible. There have been numerous occasions when I would get paid on a Thursday. I work 8-5 so I can't deposit it until around 5:30 Thursday. They will hold the checks until MIDNIGHT on MONDAY NIGHT! That's absolutely ridiculous. That's holding it for 5 days. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! So after receiving numerous overdraft fees due to having rent due on the 1st and such (which I get paid the 1st and 15th), I decided to get smart and start cashing my checks and then just depositing the cash the next day. So on Thursday night I went on cashed my check, on Friday after work I went to the bank, the teller told me the cash would be made available IMMEDIATELY (which is how it should be, it's cash for gosh sake), and then they proceeded to hold my CASH deposit until Monday at midnight. Needless to say I AGAIN received an overdraft fee for my rent. I was BEYOND livid. SO I call the bank, their customer service skills are absolutely atrocious, and they try and tell me that if I deposit after 4 o clock then they wont put it in until the next business day. I proceeded to tell the customer service rep that this was ridiculous as I was told it would be made immediately available and she told me it's my problem not their and HUNG UP ON ME! I called them back and let them know that they are literally running the WORST bank in America, and even though I have been banking with them for almost 6 (who knows why I stayed this long) years, I would be closing every single one of my accounts (which I have 3 and a credit card) and switching to First National. Best move of my life. Take it from me and the majority of people on this page, DO NOT USE US BANK!!!!!!

Absolutely aweful....

From their customer service to their "I dont care about the people attitude." They over charge you if you misbalance your checking account. In my case to the tune of $400. I was charged $400 for a $50 misbalance. I called to correct it and try and bring my account up. They turned me away...all the customer service rep. said was "Its your responsibility not ours." True yes, but why charge someone so much. I will not be banking with people that try to steal from their customers like this. Or from people that have a kick you when your down sort of attitude. I'm in the military so I travel alot, and mistakes happen sometimes in balancing that you cant figure out immediately. My advice if youre looking into banking with US Bank don't, and if youre currently banking with them. Get out while you still can. No one deserves to have $400 just taken from them. Especially in this day and age. If a bank whats to charge you an overage charge they should do it by percentage, not per transaction.

I recently moved to MN and had no other choice than US Bank so I opened up an acct. I was very dissapointed by the lack of product knowledge when inquiring about the flex perks program by both the bank acct manager and the call center customer service agents. I signed up for the flex perks bonus rewards debit card and received the frequent flyer flex perks card instead. I spent about an hot on the phone with 3 different departments in order to get this card cancelled and to order the correct card. Today (2 weeks later) I finally received the card I changed my order to only to find out the $20 fee for the incorrect card was not credited to my acct. U found myself having to call customer service once again to get this refunded. I am very dissatisfied with the attention and lack of diligence taken by the employees at US Bank. And given the numerous mistakes to a new customer there had been no follow up. Also the "rewards program" is not very rewarding as you would have to spend $10,000 in order to redeem the first tier of rewards. This is pritty greedy especially since I'm being charged an annual fee of $20 for a card that will never benefit me.
Also the log in criterea for Internet banking is a complete waste of time and gives people a false sense of security. These questions are weak and anyone with access to public information would have access to this information.
In conclusion, I want nothing further to do with this bank and to fuel my argument for bad banking, dispute this horrific and time consuming first impression I will be out $25 to close my acct!
To this I say, at an all time low, let's further pillage our "valued customers".

Wow, reading horror stories about this horrible bank brings me flashbacks to a year ago where, as a part time college student who made less than $10K that year ended up giving $1000; no, not to a good cause, like tithing or charity, no the f***ing bank! It started during spring break. I went to cash my check from working at the school cafeteria at the local bank in this really small town. Great, so I go back home for the break and start using my debit card. All of a sudden, my account is negative after five days. Total loss : about $300 in overdraft fees because the check hadn't cleared over the weekend. Then, during summer, I was working at a stupid deli job making minimum wage, with no car to get around, I had to walk to the bank across the street on my break to deposit my check on a Friday at their drive thru window. I was there before 5 pm yet they would not accept my deposit until the following Monday. So I went out and used my card, only to rack up a negative $500 balance. I remember finding out because my card was denied, yes, only after the bank had let me use it several times on tiny little purchases. I remember getting on the phone and they couldn't do anything for me. Some customer service... Going to the branch didn't help much either. The lady there only waived one overdraft fee so that my next paycheck would bring me back up to zero. Did I mention this stupid bank charges $7 every day you have a negative balance. I thought I'd be smart and just go open a new bank account somewhere. Not so... The next year, I decided to deposit some money (in the back of my head thinking "I bet the bank will try to steal my money again"). Of course, this time US Bank allowed the IRS to put a levy on my account, all because of some stupid audit on my taxes because of my dad's accountant. I wanted to barf. Went and opened a Bank of the West account and the govt. didn't ever try to take my money out (I eventually paid them back). So far, Bank of the West has been a hundred times better than US BANK. It seems however, that the best way to bank is at the grocery store (they are always the best and the friendliest).
Here's the thing about US Bank, their branches have different policies. I started out with US Bank in the local grocery store. It was great, they always did me favors, canceled a few overdrafts for me, everything cleared on time, etc...but when I moved around, I found that other branches did not have the same depositor policies, so I would not get my money cleared as fast depending on when it was deposited. This caused a lot of confusion and the bank would never wave those fees.

Heres my story.

I started with commerce bank way back when. The service was exceptional!!
I was very pleased with the level of service with commerce. Well all that changed about a year after they changed to TD.

Customer service blows now!!! The branch now hands everything off to the call center where you are put on hold for very long times and have to re-submit your identifying information to the next operator.

Lately while in Argentina my card stopped working despite having a permanent note on my account that I am a pilot and travel extensively and not to shut it down for suspected fraud.

They shut it down anyway. Told me I needed to come to a branch and get a new one. Being in Argentina for 30 days made that impossible. I have a second personal account so I figured I could transfer funds from my business account and use that atm card. NOT!!!

The online system would not allow it. Transfers worked many times before now it won’t allow it. So I have to take cash advances on credit cards to feed myself.

Additionally about two months ago someone cloned my atm card in Colombia and charger 6000 dollars in goods. I called the fraud department and they credited me 4000 immediately but told me I would need to wait up to ten days for the remaining 2000 to be credited to my account. It’s been almost 60 days now and im still waiting despite many phone calls!!

Now they tell me the person who is handling my investigation is on vacation till October 16 and I will need to wait till she gets back before the investigation can proceed. WHAT!!! I could not believe what I was hearing. You mean to tell me there is no one else who can handle this matter. Incredible. They also told me they never told me it would be 10 days for them to credit the final 2k.
BOLD FACE LIARS!!!

It’s a shame the idiots in TD management didn’t realize why commerce bank received so many new customers in the short time they were in existence.
THEY LEFT OTHER BANKS BECAUSE OF SHITTY CUSTOMER SERCVICE!!! AND NOW YOU’RE DOING THE VERY SAME THING!!!

TD is not nearly as customer oriented as commerce was. Im changing banks again as soon as I get home.

US BANK closed our account after one day of a negative overdraft balance. I went in and talked with a banker to find out what happened and come to find out that they closed it because I have another account, that they messed up and had closed, that I am fighting to get cleared. So after talking to the banker and the branch Manager we had it reopened, paid the past due balance, and was told all would be ok as of Monday. Mind you I have my 6 mo old baby with me and its pouring raining outside, so this was a HUGE inconvenience to me!! And one that I do not wish upon anyone...and do you think they would offer to refund one of the over drafts or the fee they charged us to close the account....NO! So, the account is reopened and they said the cash money would take at least 24 hrs to post to the account because their systems take 24 hrs to update...fine...I'll just keep an eye on it. So I check on Monday.....nothing. I check on Tueday.....still not there.....My husband goes to use his debit card to get some cash from his paycheck deposit....and our CARDS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED!!!! HOLY COW, REALLY?! Can they honestly think for one second that this is ok?? As of this morning(Wednesday), they still haven't posted the cash from Friday and my card is still useless!!!! My hubby called and talked to the branch manager this morning and told them if he doesn't find our money that we're filing a theft report! So, he took my hubby's cell # and promised to call by end of business day! I swear to god I am gonna BLAST them all over the news and internet and any where else I can think of, this is unacceptable!! What the h*ll do they think, that $200 isn't a big deal....that we're just poor people, so who cares that they've taken four days to help us?! And to think I had to drag my 6 mo old daughter out inthe rain who was sick in the first place, just make me boil with anger!! I had NO choice but to go talk to someone at the branch because the phone customer service people are STUPID!! Good God, I guess I have to take it into my own hands and bringing the spot light to them and their scheming ways via the news and internet!!!! DO NOT USE US BANK EVER, THEY ARE THEIVES AND WILL NOT LOOK OUT FOR YOUR BEST BANKING INTERESTS!!!!

Do Yourself A Favor Dont Bank With Us Bank .

They Come Up With Extreme Charges .

I Had A Downey Savings Account Before

And When Us Bank Took Them Over I Knew I

Was Going To Get Screwed Over .

I Had A Us Bank Account In 2006 And It Was Total

Problems The Teller Totally Lied To Me

I Deposited $15,000 In My Account

And That Was In La Habra Calif,

The Teller Told Me He Has Friends In The Company

And That The Money Will Be Ready To Use In 4 Days

So I Started To Use My Card To Buy Things That I Need

And What Do I See In The Mail Box Over Drawn In My Account

Us Bank Took Over $1000,00 In Fees

On A $15,000 Deposit They Are Cons.

Dont Open A Account With Us Bank .

And I Closed My Account After All What Happened

And It Was Never Closed Now I Owe The Bank

Additional $500.00 Closed 2006 August.

Now Since Us Bank Bought Downey Savings Here We

Go Again The Same Problems Ive Fixed My Account

After I Went To A Non Us Bank Atm To Check My Balance

They Charged Me $2.00 Which Made Me Overdrawn

Now I Owe The Bank $250.00 Dollars In Between My

Paycheck This Pricks Messed With Me To Much Im Totally Done

Plus They Approve All Transactions When They Know Your Account

Is Low On Money Which Puts You In The Negative

Then They Rack You Over The Coals .

Now I Do Banking The Smart Way .

I Deposit My Paychecks In My New Checking Account

At A Credit Union For The Last Year Never Get Screwed

By Them If You Get Overdrawn They Charge You Only $20.00

And Contact The Customer In The Mail Asap .

To Fix The Account They Are Very Honest I Recomend A Credit Union

Over All Banks

I was at B of A and thought THEIR overdraft fees were bad. I rarely had one, but when I slipped up by MISTAKE or for a MINOR overdraft, they charged 35.00 and that is alot of money to me. I have NEVER left my account overdraft more than a day or so.
So I switched over to US Bank when they told me their overdraft fee was 19.00. HAHAHA. What they don't tell you is that they charge 19.00 for the FIRST overdraft. Subsequent charges go up to 37.50, and they will charge EACH overdraft, even in the same day. And on top of that- 8.00 for every day kept overdraft. So just try to keep up! Someon is getting EXTREMELY rich while the peeons in customer service are whored out for 12.00 an hour to take my rants. WORST< MOST UNETHICAL bank ever! US Bank makes B of A look very good!!!!

US Bank has been my fiancée and i worst nightmare. Started off the first month was good everything seemed well all the people seemed nice to. Then the next month we started noticing things like if there was like 5 dollars or less in your account it seemed to over draft you...and sometimes thats all we are gonna have in the account. A lot of people now live pay check to pay check like we do. Then from there it so much money to get out...you get out and it happens right over again and your not even negative. I would say having even a penny in the account your not negative. When you get under that then yes over draft is necessary but not until its over drawn. Also my fiancée pay bills online and sometimes they wont go through for a few days or not show up at all so you never really know how much money you do have. We had a huge issue with his card being charged twice from a company we made sure to call right away they said that they would fix everything and we have yet to see the reverse over draft charge go in to the account so now every paycheck we get is being taken away because we are waiting on them to give us our money back. Don't waste your time or money here just to get screwed over. Don't get anything from them loans credit cards or anything they will find some way to take your money.

Okay, before my review, I must add a retort to a few statement left by either employees or people with sizable accounts:

Surprised you don't know this... A LOT of people live paycheck to paycheck. So they have a system, so to say. Same thing, week to week. No worries. Then all of a sudden a check from the company you work for (and have been depositing at the same time for months, even years) doesn't clear for 4 business days (and for no reason), the fees rack up, and next thing you know, you can't live. Pay your mortgage/rent, food, etc...
People know their finances. They know the system. US Bank reserves the right to bend that system to it's will. Being able to take any payments/withdraws/deposits and rearrange them as they seem fit, no matter what order, is the biggest legal con ever established. And to accuse them of being so stupid that they can't do something simple as to count is rude, as rude as US Bank's lame customer service. And don't even bring up the ugly online account system. It is misleading. I hereby actually accuse them of FALSE POSTING FOR FINANCIAL BENEFIT. Simple. So if you have a huge account, of course you're not going to have problems. If you're an employee and posted a good review, while ragging on customers, well... you're just tools.

My experience with the bank was terrible. I had over 300 dollars in overdraft fees, and they admitted it was their fault (glitch), and only gave me back one (totaling 37.50). Dealing with customer service is about as painful as a root canal. I feel for each and every one of you, those who got screwed not by illegal acts, but by legal acts bent to the point that they should be illegal. But with 99% of these, unfortunately you agreed to the small print, like me, and therefor are responsible. Just close it, and leave it. Eventually, there will be no customers left. They will close. And another evil will be banished.

This is the worst bank you can bank with. Their customer service is the worst I have encountered, I have had bad experiences with national banks, but this trumps it all. It is by far the worst I have come across. The 1-800 number for customer service (both bank accounts and credit cards) are a bunch of the most unprofessional goons I have ever come across. I believe their performance is graded based on how rudely they can treat customers, and this permeates down the line to the staff at the branch and even the tellers at the drive-through. They have been loosing customers and employees steadily, and I am one of them. Me and my wife, we had both our checking and savings accounts with them as well as 3 credit cards, well now we have no accounts, just the cards, which we won't ever use again. My wife had her account with them for 4 years, and joined her because of the convinence even though we heard a lot of not-so-good reviews. But while opening the account it was all great, however after the initial visit everything started changing, and now down the line it has become such a dreadful experience for both of us to bank with them. None of the departments talk to each other, nobody knows what the other department is doing, and the person who suffers is me, the customer. Their favorite line is NO, WE CANNOT DO IT; and it is NOT while we ask for a loan or a credit line increase that they say this, it is for any small thing that you call in to request them for.
Anybody who is considering opening an account or starting a relationship with US Bank, and is smart to search through the reviews before doing it. I have just one piece of advice, DON'T DO IT FOR YOUR OWN SAKE. It is not a pleasant experience and it only can go further down from here, we ran with our money to another bank, we had a combined income of around $6000 coming in every month, US bank is not getting that business anymore. They do think and they let you know that it is not a great loss for them, and trust me they don't shy away from letting you know the same.

The payment I made was never received and of course I was charged and my credit limit was lowered. Long story short...I paid and I was told in order to get my limit reinstated I would have to answer a few questions about my income and such with a supervisor. I decided to speak with my husband first and then called back had to leave a message. When I called back again I got a @#$#% named Cliff. Well little Cliffie was not a very nice person and told me that I had to submit it in writing...after I was told twice I was to do it over the phone. He could have said it nicely, but nooooo he was a total you know what...who do these people think they are? This bank sucks!!!!

Giving them one star is way too much credit. Especially since they gave me a negative.

So I got my first bank account with Downey Savings, I swear, best bank in the world. They didn't trip when I'd put in a couple hundred dollars worth of money from a check into their bank. It was right there and I was able to take it out. I could take out about 1000 in one day. And more in debit card transactions. They only got me once for something that wasn't my fault and only made me pay 25. No worries though. They notified me IMMEDIATELY and took it from my other money that was in the account.

Now, US Bank took over Downey...I'm so fucking pissed now. When I used to use it, don't use it anymore because it is garbage, I would put my paycheck in at the desk and it wouldn't show for about 3 days. Bullshit first of all on their part because if the previous bank could do it, why can't they? Now I can't take out my whole 600 in the account like I'd like. I can only take a max of 500. HEY BITCH. GUESS WHAT?? IT'S MY FUCKING MONEY! I'll tell you when I want it and how much of it I want, don't tell me shit. Then also they really started getting heavy on charging me for "overdrawn checks". Well I don't use checks. I only use cash or debit. And I used debit online to purchase a game. The way it works online is that it checks your account for the funds and then automatically takes it out. No sir, they felt like fucking me over. So when they took over my good bank, they combined mine and my mom's accounts together into one. So she kept taking money out of it and shit, and the last time I ever looked at that account was 3 months ago and I had 2 bucks in it. I left it alone and didn't do anything else with it. Now, since my mom had been charging shit to my account, it went into the negatives, even though I don't have that credit card shit where you can go beyond zero. And then they give me a call TODAY!, 3 months later telling me that I've been in the negatives the past 3 months and everyday that it is a negative, I am charged 8 bucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I owe them 310.02! FUCK YOU US BANK! You give a bad name to the US!

Don't ever go to this bank. They will screw you over. I'm done with them.

In fact, I'm done with all banks. It's just me and my Nix check cashing. May be expensive, but hey, at least they won't cheat me like banks will.

U.S. Bank says they guarantee their customer service? Really? It does say that right on their web site and the people that answer their phones even state that. My experience, however, definitely differs. I recently paid off a line of credit. My checking account had a balance of .97. My intent was to close both accounts. A few days after I paid off the line of credit, I attempted to check the balance online to make certain that the check had cleared so I could close the account. The online system was not working, so I stopped at an ATM to check the balance. Little did I know that U.S. Bank charges $2 to check your balance on what they consider a "foreign" ATM, or not one of theirs. So you see the problem. My .97 checking account balance was going to be short the $2 foreign ATM fee by $1.03. Monday, I get a note from U.S. Bank telling me that I had insufficient funds to cover a transaction. Impossible, since I hadn't used my checking account for some time. I call U.S. Bank, my insufficient fund total is now at $17. I went to U.S. Bank yesterday, my insuffient fund fees are now $41. Are you kidding me? On -$1.03? Absolutely ludicrous. I'll be happy to spread the word on their "service fees", but it goes beyond those ridiculous fees. It took me no less than three phone calls to get someone to talk to me when I asked for an explanation. I was led to believe that the fees would be refunded, only to be contacted a day later with the news that the bank I opened my account at was going to deny the refund due to a previous insufficient fund issue two years ago AND the fact that I planned to close the accounts. I called that U.S. Bank branch twice to discuss the issue with Ryan, the CSM. Do you think he had the courtesy to return my call? Nope, never happened. What a crappy way to treat your customers. While I may have reconsidered closing my accounts before this, believe me, not only will I close my accounts, but I won't hesitate to offer my opinion of U.S. Bank. They live up to their reputation of being a fee-happy, arrogant big bank who thinks they don't need their customers.

Where to start? First off, forget the debit card. Every time you enter your pin #, your charged a fee.

I opened my account 2 years ago. The first year was fine without any problems or headaches. Recently, I was laid off due to this government's administration killing the private sector and small businesses. Recently, I took a short term position that was only to be 2 hours worth of work and I would get paid $30. I checked my "Available Balance" online (which changes by the hour regardless of any pending transactions) and had a total of $57 (with 3 pending transactions that have already been deducted from my available balance). I had to run to Kinko's to print and fax documentation so I could get paid the job that I took on. The total of the 3 transactions made came to a whopping $8.06 (Note: These transactions were made before 5 pm which means that they should have cleared at midnight, the same day of the transaction). Later that evening, I wrote a check for $20. I ended up checking my account balance 2 days later and noticed that I was -$300. OK...so I over drafted...no big deal....except that the 3 transactions from Kinko's were the primary reason for the ridiculous over draft fee. I went into the local office and asked for the manager. He wouldn't see me. When I asked to see if the bank could consolidate the 3 Kinko's overdraft charges into one, since this was done within 5 minutes, all done at the same store, and the transactions only came to a total of $8.06, they refused. Anyone who has ever been into Kinko's knows that they have a credit card slot for the copiers, one for the fax machine, one per printer, and even one per computer....so you can't do just one overall payment for everything you did in the store. I then went home to contact customer support hoping I could get different outcome if I reach out to higher sources. They informed me that they have to contact the branch manager. I informed her that I had already spoken with the branch, and they refused to help me. She then stated that there is nothing that she could do then. Some GREAT customer service guys....seriously keep up the good work.

To make matters even worse, I had asked about overdraft protection in the past and IT'S NOT OVERDRAFT PROTECTION!!!! It's a flipping joint account. When you take money out of that account, you have to replace it within a certain amount of time....otherwise, you get charged with a fee.

I'll admit, I did overdraft and I'm more than willing to pay for it. But damn it, when someone is already hurting and struggling just trying to get by, the humanitarian thing to do is to lend out a helping hand, instead they just decided to wipe their feet on me while I was laying down. This bank is decent if your doing fine and they'll help blow wind in your sails, but as soon as you start hurting, they only feel it's necessary to kick you while your down. Trust your money with a different bank.

I have mixed feelings about us bank. I have had a lot of problems with the internet banking. I will make sure and leave like three dollars in my account and check back a couple days later and see that I am in the negative. I don't know where all my money goes. I am not an idiot. I keep track of my purchases on excel on my computer. Somehow I still come up with over draft fees and whatnot. One time they have actually been helpful and fixed an Itunes charge I never made. They even credited 88.00 to my account. Even though they have taken more then that in overdraft fees.. Still I had to spend countless hours on the phone to take of that one I tunes charge that made my account go to -357. I basically just leave 20 dollars in my account at all times now and never be alive the online statement. It seems liek they take out the charges when they please.

Where do I start?? First of all, my husband and I were tricked into getting a home mortgage with US Bank because they insisted they had a better deal because if we set up a Five Star Platinum account then we would get 25% off our loan origination fee. The loan officer told us to wait until the last minute to set up the platinum account because otherwise we wouldn't qualify. Great - $900 sounded good to us. When it came time to close (over a month later because it took so long for the loan office to get their stuff together) it turned out that they weren't paying ANYTHING (let alone $900!). The loan officer (which for one was IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of and had horrible customer service) told me it was because we had set up the platinum account too late and that we should've set it up right away (opposite of what he had told us originally). When we called him out on that, he then said it was because the seller had paid all of our closing costs and that there was no origination fee left to give us a discount on.... which made us irate. The loan officer knew all along how much closing costs were and how much the seller had agreed to pay, and yet he insisted we needed to go with them because we were going to get money back... which wasn't true at all. Cheated!

As if that wasn't enough. The platinum account that we set up has now defaulted to a Five Star Silver package because the mortgage information still hasn't made its way from the mortgage department to the US Bank system.... (so according to the system we don't qualify for the platinum account). Now I have to call and be put on hold everyday to check to see if it's in their system yet. It's been 10 business days since we closed on our house and the information still hasn't made it through, and I'M the one who has to track the information down and RE-set up the account I already set up 3 weeks ago....

Horrible customer service, no coordination between departments and left us with a hassle that should have never been a problem in the first place. Frustrating to say the least!

STAY AWAY!!!

For over five years I had a 9.99% interest with US Bank on a Visa card. Today I received a notice they are bumping it to 23.24%. I have never been late and only once exceeded the maxium on the card, which was immediately corrected.

We have been depending on this card to see us through some tough times. With the balance on the card, our monthly finance charge would have jumped from about $200 to over $500. I have closed the account and locked in the 9.99% rate until the card is paid.

I have had my checking account with US Bank for as long as I can remember because my parents have been with them for quite awhile. I recently moved out of my parents house and so logically I wanted to remove my parents from my account. Well around that same time someone stole my identity and racked up about $1,000 of debt in my account. So USBank said they would refund these charges and do an investigation. So they started to refund them and my account was slowly, but surely coming back to black. Then one day I looked and there was almost 700 dollars worth of fees tacked onto my account!! So my dad was unable to remove is name from my account and they told us that if we didn't pay all that money back the account would be charged off and my parents credit, along with mine, would be ruined for ever. Needless to say I feel very taken advantange of. My car was also recently stolen and I have a car loan with USBank, well it's been about a week since the Insurance sent the check to the bank and still no pay off letter. Not only does this mean I'm unable to get another vehicle, it also means I'm going to have to make a payment on a car that is already paid off!!! I thought banks were supposed to keep your money safe?? Not steal it from you.

This bank is horrible and preys on college students. They are in your face at registration and tell you that everything is free. Then, when you go home for the summer and don't know that you are 80 CENTS overdrawn, they start piling on the fees. I would not recommend this bank to anyone. They are mean and will not work with you. The name US Bank is sinful because they should not be using a name with US in it at all.

When I got married a few years ago my wife was with US Bank and I needed a new bank so I joined. Horrible mistake. Just to start, it took my wife three attempts at bringing in all of her documentation that her last name was changed before they finally changed it in the system. It took me four attempts to get them to send me new checks and when they finally came in they had my wife's maiden name on them. They've charged us overdraft charges amounting to more than $1,200 over the last 3 years. At one point I made another trip into the bank to complain and had the bank manager (a very nice guy. They always put the ones that care up front so that they can screw you from behind) and I had him explain how I was charged overdraft charges. It took him and another bank employee about twenty minutes to figure out. They eventually did this by looking up information I did not have access to online. I could not have seen this coming by the way they run their system. They run it like that so that you are charged $37 a pop. I once asked another bank manager if he thought there was anything wrong with charging me $37 for overdrafting by $0.92 when I bought a coffee after my wife wrote a check I didn't know about. His response was, "No. You're using money that isn't your!" Then he continued to yell at me about stealing bank money. When I asked if they could just have the card declined next time we were going to overdraft he said, "No. Unfortunately there's no way we can do that." No. There's no way you want to do that.
My favorite experience with them was when my wife was on the East coast for an internship for 3 months and US Bank called her at 11:30 at night. She was behind on her credit card payment so they were reminding her. She talked to them and told them that she had moved to the East coast and could they not call again so late. The woman on the phone apologized and said that she would put that down. I don't know where she put it down, but the next night and the rest of that week, they called progressively later. Each time she told them the situation. So I finally called them and told them to stop calling her so late, if anything, call me. The guy said that it was completely legal to call up to 9 o'clock in the evening. I told him again that she is no longer on the West coast and (now more forcefully, but not yelling) that they need to stop calling her so late. This jerk starts telling me with attitude that if I want to change anything that I can elect new officials. So apparently the only way to get US Bank to not be horrible to you is to elect new officials. Or you could simply stay away from them. I can't believe that it took us so long to leave. It was a beautiful day when we closed our checking account and it will be an even more beautiful day when we're done paying off the credit card... we will finally be free from that horrible, rude, incompetent, backstabbing, thieving institute.

Bank of America has unreasonable practices.
I wrote a check 11:00am on Monday morning. I made a transfer to cover it 8:30am the next morning, and was charged $350 for overdraft.

What is going on here?? Is anybody watching this? This is worse than dealing with a shylock?

I defy anyone to walk into a bank with an uncertified check and walk out with cash.

OMG what a piece of crap this bank is was a pff bank customer for years checking savings home loan on line etc. US bank took over I deposited over $1'000 cash. it took 5 days to post in my account. went on vacation out of town was told our pff cards would be honored untill new ones were made available. out of town our cards failed to work at all. not a problem I have an account at Downey savings also. and the same problem US bank stopped that one also.

let the fees begin no matter what type of deposit I make to US bank it takes one full day to make it into my account including cash. payrol checks direct deposit same problem. when you set up a payment they begin processing it several days prior and the account is short and you get charged for over draft. when you make a debit purchases they process these in any order that will cause an over draft. after years of never having an overdraft occur with us bank it is a daily occurance.

The staff at my local branch are the old pff staff and they are great and have waived every charge if you call the 1800 us bank # i found them to be rude short and complete jerks. then I discovered these Personal bankers dont even have the same screen on the computer that the branch and my home have it is called the "Blue screen" it does not show all the transactions etc. so calling them is a waste of time.

I already moved my direct deposits etc. and the teller tells me, AND THIS IS REAL RICH SHE TELLS ME DID YOU HEAR DUE TO SO MANY CUSTOMERS LEAVING US BANK THAT THEY CHANGED CALIFORNIA TO AN URBAN ACCOUNTING SYSTEM INSTEAD OF THE METRO ACCOUNTING SYSTEM. WTF. acounting should just be acounting. I thought I had heard it all I checked rippoffreport.com and found 397 pages of the same complaints. What a great bank...

The worst bank I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. I have a mortgage account and a checking account with them. It takes forever for my money to become available in my checking account. As far as my mortgage account goes they want to foreclose on me because I moved to another state to go to school and I no longer live in the house. I have never been late OR missed a payment, yet since the house is not occupied they want to call in the loan, and they won't let me rent it out. Ridiculous. I hate this bank.

Terrible! The customer service helpline has been hard to get a hold of. I have heard different answers from different operators and one was quite rude and difficult. Also, my bank card was taken, when I asked for a new one, I was told it would be delivered in 3-5 business days or to call back. When I called back after 5 business days, they said I had been mis-informed and it should be 3-7 business days. I only live a few hours away from where they said the card was issued 5 days earlier (per the operator) so I assumed it was lost. They said call back after 7 days and if it still isn't there, which I anticipated at this point, they would rush it but it would cost me $15. Although, that could be waived if I go to my local bank branch and ask them to waive it. Unbelievable, they can't get me a card in time, then they want to charge me and take my time to get the fee removed. This was only one of the bad experiences that I have had with this bank. Be careful banking with them.

I love US Bank. I have had accounts with this bank for 4 years and even to this day they continue to impress me! I needed to apply for a personal line of credit with a good rate. Just when I think the banks are not lending I spoke to Boyd Gudahl at a Bank office in St Paul Minnesota and he was able to get me approved the same day at rates around 6%! While I spoke to him we were also able to refinance my home equity line of credit up to 90% of my home value! That was great. I can't say enough good things about Mr. Gudahl, he is amazing! If you ever need to apply or open an account up do yourself something nice and call him, im sure he would appreciate it.

WORST BANK they took over Downey Savings and Loan in California. I've never had payroll checks held now I have to wait 2-3 days to get my money. One of the old Downey employees said I should cash my check and deposit as cash, so that it will clear and I could use my money.
HA US Bank has put a hold on the cash money. Now I have my account in to a negative balance. My other complant my brother sent me money in a account transfer, I had to pay for the money coming into my account. Whats next?????? I'm looking for a better bank now. Downey Savings was great, I'm looking at Wells Fargo they seem to have some good reviews.

When I googled bank review and US Bank immediately came up before anything else with all of these terrible reviews, I felt like not such a big fool. This is the worst bank, way, way by far that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. They have screwed me out of more money than I like to admit and I don't have much to get screwed out of. One day I was shopping at my Safeway grocery store when US Bank announced over the loud speaker that they were giving $75.00 to anyone who opened a bank account. They had a little branch in the store. I was looking to change banks because the bank I used at the time did not have a branch in the city I live in. Like everyone has said, they have cheated me out of a lot of money. I have since gone back to my old bank but really wanted to tell anyone who is interested that this bank is the lowest and someone should start a class action suit. They have no shame. I plan to go to the manager of the Safeway store where I shop and tell him/her about this site. I wouldn't want such a ruthless corporation in my grocery store. I could tell you specific stories but it just gets my blood pressure up so high, that I don't want to put myself through the horrible memories I have managed to stuff down again.

I have been a customer at this bank, and until recently I have been fairly happy. First of all, I scheduled one of my bills to be withdrawn on the day my paycheck is direct deposited into my account. My bill payment was withdrawn before my direct deposit, because even though they claim they all go through at the same time, they don't. This caused me to have an overdraft, and then everything else that went through that day resulted in overdraft as well. It was 4 total. They were nice enough to reverse them, because I explained that either they had made an ordering problem, or my bill was withdrawn before the agreed upon time. I figured either way they fixed the problem.

My second problem which is causing me to leave them has to do with my savings account. I recently deposited a large amount of money into my savings account for holding, and was transferring various amounts to my checking to pay off some credit cards I had. What I did not know is that each time I transferred money to my checking account was considered a withdrawal, and I was allowed 6 per month. I think I did a total of 10 transfers over the statement period. Each transaction over 6 gets charged $15! What's worse is that when I called to complain they told me I have unlimited withdrawals/transfers out of my checking, but I have to do them with a teller or at an ATM. I can't use the online service they provide me with.

I am going to be leaving this bank as soon as I can. These fees were not outlined anywhere that I was able to find. At least other banks I'm looking at moving to state if there's a withdrawal fee for savings accounts.

This is the worst bank ever. Their rules are made to make money on poor people. I 've been with this bank for only a year but they they charged me total $700 in overdraft fees. Last time I deposited more money (cash) that I needed for my transaction, but they kept most of the deposit for verification and charged me three overdraft fees for using my account - living me with no money to live for. They take money(cash) and they make you owe them. Stay away from this bank if you do not want to loose everything.

I am terribly horrified with the way the transition from PFF Bank to USBank has occurred. They must have a bunch of imbiciles working for them! On the first business day after USBank was announced as taking PFF over, I went to my branch. I was met by what looked like a corporate executive who stood in the lobby. I asked her if anything about my PFF account would change. She smiled ear to ear and assured me that nothing would change! Boy was she a liar! Months went by with no changes, which was comfortable for me. Until the transition nightmare began this past weekend!

I have not had access to view my account line from 4/18/08 through 4/20 due to what they call their "transition", or should we say, " let's pull the wool over the prior PFF customers eyes so they won't see all the additional fees were gonna get from them period!"

Yesterday I went to a local convenience stor to make a purchase using my debit card, and even though I used the right pin number two times, the read out comment indicated that a different form of transaction would be required. I remembered thinking how bad I must have looked to the clerk who was tendering the sale. She must have thought I was someone who hadn't a dollar in her name!

Thinking it was a glitch in the stores swipe machine, I went to a different store, and got the same problem.

I went to a bank ATM to check the balance of my account, and was able to make a small withdrawal.

Upon returning home, I went to login to my internet banking system to find that I no longer had access to view PFFbank.com, and was forced to enroll in USbanks internet banking system. By this time, I'm fuming.....so I went to call PFF to find out what the heck was going on. I was met by a recording which stated that the number has been changed, but was later able to punch in the right number to be transferred to US Banks customer service department. I was immediately placed on hold in their que, and the recording indicated that it would be 7 minutes before a representative would be able to assist me, but offered to transfer me back to the automated system to gain access to my information! I hung up yesterday, thinking.....what the hell?

This is not the way PFF did business, they prided themselves taking good care of their customers. Due to the anger I felt, I thought it best to detach for a while, you know, see if things would be better the next day. Having a fresh start today, I went to check my internet account to find that as an extra added benefit to their advantage, I got a charge of $1.50 for merely looking at the balance of my account from another banks ATM! Then upon looking closer at my "welcome package" I find that some of the other fees have jumped to $36 bucks as it pertains to the type of account I had, which would have only costed $22 under the agreement I had when signing up with PFF.

Today, I called USbank in an attempt to find out the punch line to this "joke". Only to find that they know about the glitch with the ATMS card, but I won't have access to my ATM card until tomarrow, and was due to an error that went unnoticed by their corporate office, which is affecting everyone transitioning from PFF to USbank, and that "they're sorry". Yeah........did you notice the bragging going on on todays stock market news on 1Q profits? It was fun while it lasted, but I'll be getting the hell out. That's the punchline! My bottom line is what counts, and not the banks!

I should have run away immediately the moment I received my first piece of mail from US Bank. On all the new account information they sent AND on my new debit card, they spelled my name wrong! Then when I called to tell them and to ask them to change it, they said, "Oh you must have misspelled your name on your application." I was a magna cum laude college graduate. Yes. Clearly I misspelled my own name. That must be the answer.

The customer service at my US Bank branch is not good. The people who work there are so snobby, and they don't even try to help most of the time--it's always, "I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do." What's the point of being a "customer service representative" if there's nothing you can do!?

They hold deposited checks for several days. Once, I deposited a check and wrote my rent check both on the same day. The deposited check did not "clear" in time, and I had to pay an overdraft charge. They refused to remove the charge from my account, even though the check was written on the same day as the deposit was made.

Another time, a store mistakenly did a double charge on my account. I called US Bank to have them remove ONE of the charges, and they removed BOTH of the charges. So the store thought I was trying to get away without paying. It took over 4 months to resolve the issue. It was extremely frustrating.

I am still with US Bank, because I am a medical student, and I just haven't had the time nor the patience to deal with the hassle of switching banks (plus, US Bank probably charges a fee for switching)...but the first thing I'm going to do this summer will be to get my money out of US Bank.

I have never encountered such incompetence. To those of you blaming the bad reviews on the customer's stupidity: sometimes that is the case, but reading through, many of the experiences were similar to mine.

Yesterday, I deposited $200 into my account and made a purchase of $18. Today I bought some groceries totaling $96, and lunch totaling $8, thinking the funds would be released by then. I go online to check my account just now and I've been charged 2 overdraft fees. I have been informed that they release $100 of a deposit immediately, then the rest in 1 business day. I was (and still am) outraged that I would be charged two overdraft fees when I only spent $18 yesterday. I then looked at the order of my purchases online, & it has put the $96 and $18 first, making the $18 & $8 bounce and charge fees (for money that SHOULD already be in there).

USBank orders purchases how they please, and tell you things to through later, even though all were of the same type (debit).

STAY AWAY FROM US BANK, IT'S JUST NOT WORTH YOUR TIME.

It seems as if the GOOD ratings are coming from employees that work for the bank. Do you have your money put into US bank? Also, isn't it your job to say good things about your place of employment? US bank is a crap bank. They have horrible fees for everything and sometimes the fees shouldn't even have been added to your account. I have had times where I got an overdraft charge turned over but for the most part they have all these little stipulations so that they can make money. They hold your money for verification-if its cash what do you need verification on?? Also, the online banking isn't correct?? Then why is it there? When I go online to check my account to make sure that everything is up to par and so I don't completely screw myself and it's not correct then what am I supposed to do?

If you're with US bank get out-get out now because honestly I've never heard anything good about this bank!

Horrible bank to deal with - and rude. Find another bank!! Don't bank with them - the slime factor has increased exponentially over the 15 years I've been banking with them. I too, would like to tell anyone seeing this that US Bank is NOT the bank for you! Their business practices , in my opinion, are opaque. I personally don't get how when they take money out of your available funds, "reserving" it until the payment goes through, then having a different payment not clear, how it is that the funds that were "reserved" gets accessed an insufficient funds fee also. If you have taken the money out already, reserving it, how the hell does that transaction not go through. At the very least their negative balance fees are a gigantic slap in the face. After talking to a manager of a branch he explained to me that the information on your account over the web through their site is not completely accurate. Why the F#$@ even provide account information if it isn't accurate? These guys blow and I am dropping them tomorrow. Like I said, the negative balance fees suck and that in itself is enough for me to close my account. F#$# You US Bank!!!

I wish there was another option to give a 0 star for service. I knew I would do some shopping over the weekend... SO like anyone would I deposited money to cover any funds I might spend... The ATM printed out a avail balance on the positive...Well apparently they don't actually clear your funds until Mon or Tue if it is a holiday and then they proceed to tack on $37.5 fees!!!!!!!! So for each transaction (most of which were less than $10) My fees totalled $400+ Now in dealing with a branch manager (which took a week to return several of my calls in the mean time they charge me $8/day)...I had to bring my account current before they will refund any charges... I can just imagine the call I am waiing for when they tell me they will refund 2 charges as a courtesy!!! The moment the funds hit my acount I will definetly be closing and NEVER returning to such a place!!!

US Bank is the only bank that Suck and Blow at the same time
CHEATERS, LIARS, THIEVES,
They hide your balances to what you really have in your acct to deceive you so that you purposely go over drawn and charge enourmouse over draft fees many times 40 bucks per overdraft.
They purposely dont' help customers by never allowing you any kind of overdraft protection via credit. So that they can continue to over charge you.
You can open other accts with your own money to setup an overdraft but be sure that they also charge you for them to transfer YOUR funds so that you dont' over drawn your acct. But they way they do business it won't matter. They WILL charge you.
NEVER NEVER NEVER open an account with them. There is no customer service to help you.

I just wanted to put a good word in for US Bank because not only am I an employee there for 3 years but I do my banking with them as well. I see what people write on here and understand some of their issues but if anyone was to actually take that into consideration when choosing a bank that wouldn't make much sense...EVERY SINGLE bank is going to have the same complaints! I know that I provide great service to my customers at my branch and obviously can't speak for all the employees at US Bank. I am proud to work for and bank with one of the strongest banks in America! The trick is to cover yourself on all sides when it comes to overdrawing your account...don't let it happen and if it does make sure you have overdraft protection! Its that SIMPLE!

I haven't had an overdraft fee in I don't know how long, and I had even gone to a branch and filled out an overdraft protection after being hounded to do so by every teller for a couple months. Obviously the girl just wanted to hit her quota, because she said I could fill out the paper and she would call me, as I was in a hurry, and I never heard from her again. I didn't worry about (as I said, no overdrafts, so no worries). Then I had one item put my avail balance neg. I immediately put funds in to cover this expense, and then some (an extra $90) so that my account balance would never actually become neg. US Bank then put through my transactions, largest to smallest ($15, $2, $1, $1) and proceeded to charge me $140 in overdraft fees. And, because of this $140 in fees, something else is now neg, and I have another $35 in my future. I am changing my direct deposit today, and leaving this bank (which I have been a member of for years) FOREVER!!!

I should have run so far away and so fast when US Bank approached me to open an equity line. Not only did their sales rep LIE about the options and the interest rates to hook me, but now I've learned that the only thing I can do online is LOOK at my account. Can't pay it, can't pay from it. Total waste of my credit. It's been this way for nearly a year and all the internet people can tell you is sorry, that's the way our system is. Avoid US Bank. Go someplace else!

I had horrible customer service at US Bank. They charged me $75 in charges for writing 5 to many checks over the limit of 3. I was not told about this charge when I opened my account, or I would have never opened my account there. They told me that they aren't going to pay me a penny back of the money they stole from me. I am going to file a lawsuit against them in Small Claims Court. It's cheap where I live, $10, and close by my house. I might not win, but US Bank has to have someone represent them there or I will win if they don't show up. I'm also going to take as many depositions as possible at their branch office and I will speak in a loud voice when I go there to do that. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a bank in my life, and I'm not a young man anymore. Stay away from US Bank. They have a bunch of scams to ring up fees and charges. Plus, I don't know any other way to put it, their tellers are dumber than a bag of rocks!
