I thought US bank was a decent bank until tonight. I really didn't like them or their rude customer service so in May I closed my account. Before I did that I asked the banker if I had any pending transaction so when I take the money out that there wouldn't be any other charges. She told me no everything went through. So I said okay I want to cancel my checkings and savings account but I kept my credit card with them. After they closed it and gave me all of my money back I went home and checked online to see if any of my checkings or savings were on there and they weren't except my credit card. Every here and there I will log into my US BANK account and ONLY SEE A CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT. Until tonight, I saw that my checking account was negative for a month!! I called US BANK to see what was going on and this rude "online bank manager" Amy wouldn't listen for anything. The whole time she was talking over me and saying she understands what was going on but she didn't. I told her I never seen my checking account online before just my credit card account so what was going on. She told me she knows for a fact it has been there since day 1. Funny thing is I've been on there constantly checking my credit balance and I never once saw my negative checking balance. So as I was trying to explain my story she keeps on talking and talking. So me being the CUSTOMER was trying to tell my story over here and she kept asking well are you here for my help because that is what i'm trying to do. But she wasn't she told me the same BS over and over and wouldn't listen to what I had to say so to get my point across I tried over talking her and she hung up on me!! Last time I checked they were suppose to SHUT UP & LISTEN!! I also noticed that their site was getting a new look so maybe they just finally threw in my checking today. I'm the type that would pay off my negative balance if I had any not keep it going on for a month and a half. I never recieved any statements regarding my checking account..this is new to me but she had the nerve to tell me it's been there the whole time?! NO I have 3 different witnesses that saw I only had a credit card account..US BANK IS A BUNCH OF BULL!! THEY DON'T EVEN DESERVE A STAR!!!

Us bank is the worst bank I have ever used hands down! First of all for those of you who dont know each little individual branch is its own entity, and who ever happends to be the manager of that branch can do as they please in regards to your money. Not only is their overdraft fee the highest at $37.50 per overdraft, but they take it to another level and charge you $8 for every day your account is negative. This money adds up very quickly, and US Bank will not help you with the fees, or negotiate. They are terrible with customer service and horrible to have your money tied up with. Anyone who reads this and has a problem with US Bank should go and talk to King Soopers(which houses many us banks) and tell them what is really going on at the us bank in there store.

we have been banking with us bank for 9 years (back when it was first star)my husband and I had our personal and our business accounts there. at first, it was pretty good and then us bank took over and then their service went to crap!!! they started changing everything to get more fees... they changed the posting amount, they upped the fees and they constantly change things by putting notes on the statement they send in the mail. now, if you're an online banker, you don't check your statements because you've all ready seen what's going on. the latest thing they did to us was at the 800 number, gave us the wrong info (atleast that's what the branch is telling us) and now we have a fee that who knows if they are going to take care of it now.... my advice to anyone would be run, run far away from us bank and don't look back, they might charge you for looking at them !!!

I agree with all the bad reviews of US Bank I would never tell anyone to bank or work there. Leave as soon as possible, management is terrible they lie and cover up ,the best thing for the banking industry is to shut them down.... Managers have no clue how to act professional or how to treat people. They lie to your face from the second they open there mouths. So think really hard before you would work there or God forbid give US Bank any of your money. They are only out to f*** people!!!!!!!

I am a college student and have had accounts for US Bank for about 4 years now, but their services sucks. Their online banking lies and when I think I have a little money for smokes or chew I will purchase it but then two days later i'll check my account and it won't even be on the pending list. After about 2 or 3 weeks I will go back and check and I will be in the whole about 400 dollars. This has happend to me so many times I can't even stand it any more. Their 35 dollars over draft fees it complete bs. Even if someone goes over 25 cents their SOL. I have called and complained so many times but it's like they don't even care, even when I tell them their internet banking is shit. Just taking money out of our hands and feeding their multibillion dollar corporation. F this I am going to a credit union where they actually care.

they are paid on commission, i was robbed also on the "the payements didn't go through yet" thing, plus the charge was $8 every day after you went overdraft, by the time i actually realized i went over it was well over $100 on a simple $9 purchase on gas at a 76 station, they said they could reverse about $20 for me on the overdraft, and then i wanted to close my account and i guess it costed another $25, so i spent over $125 trying to just end it all that day

US Bank sucks! The management is rude and not helpful. I have lost thousands of dollars in fees. Once, I deposited a third party check in the ATM which I had done before with no problems. This time they decided to reverse it in my account, but did not let me know until 4 days later. The branch manager explained they could do that at anytime for security reasons (stolen check or something), and he also thought it could of been for the large amount of the check as well. At that time, I had been a customer for 8 years. Why did they not call me, or let me know sooner. I had already written my checks for the month. It was a mess. With all the overdraft charges, I was out several hundreds of dollars. I had a valid check, and they reversed it in my account because of the amount and because they could do that at anytime. You would think they could of worked with me since I was a customer for 8 years. They are theives!!! Don't trust them. They are rude and just want your money to pay the management!!!

US Bank has always been good to me. I have been using them for 8 years for business and personal. Their fees are low and the customer service has always been great. It may be just the branch I use but I have used other branches that were fine.

Writing this while waiting on hold for US Bank. Had a lease with US Bank, at end of lease I bought the vehicle through my usual bank. Starting receiving phone calls (now a letter) from US Bank that payments were being missed. Frustration is I cannot seem to get to the person who can handle the issue. Now into the 4th person, reaching 60 mins of the phone (good thing I have a couple hours of paper work to get done while waiting on hold). Spent less the 10 mins on the phone with my usual bank to verify the payoff. I knew things were bad 3 years ago when I tried to arrange for direct payment of the lease and US Bank couldn't seem to process the paperwork (I tried 3 times). For others out there looking for a bank I would recommend going else where.

The other day I went into US Bank to deposit a large check--unusual for me because I work for cash and keep the cash in my pocket. The teller called me by my first name, asked me if I owned a home, asked me how my credit rating was, and informed me that I had several bounced checks in the last few months and that I should apply for overdraft coverage. What the Hell?
I had one overdraft two months ago--minus 46 cents. They could not cover it for me. What the hell? The teller wanted to know why I dyed my hair brown. Wow, fashion police and rude busy bodies. Going elsewhere as soon as the check clears.

As a former employee of US Bank (emphasis on former) I must agree with most of the negative comments. This is truly a "big box" bank with their eye on the bottom line. They don't care about the little people but will jump through hoops for those with at least a 6 figure deposit. They do not allow any room for human error. They even decided at one time to post debits before credits which greatly improved the income level for OD charges.
My accounts only remain at US Bank for my husband's direct deposit from Social Security and a pittance of a retirement US Bank gave me. As soon as it hits the account it is withdrawn and deposited into our local neighborhood bank (where I now work).
Best bet for one and all is to check out your local credit union or, if there is one in your area, check out the local "Mom and Pop" bank. The customer service at the smaller banks is outstanding.

U.S. BANK is bad...wait....it is REALLY BAD. Their online service is awful half of the time the system doesn't work. If you have loan accounts or line of credits with them make sure you send the payment by mail in time because if you wait for them to fix their "Bill Pay Online" you will just end up paying late fees, over the phone transaction charges and a hit in your credit as a bad customer. ALL THIS, When they are the ones that can't seem to fix their website. After having a manager call me a lier and treat me like dirt I decided to go with a local bank that gives me the respect I deserve. Not just as a customer but as a person. Their staff and their managers are rude, and hateful. The people on the pay by phone service are extremely nice though...probably they should get promoted to perform the customer service that managers can't provide or don't seem to be able to accomplish effectively...(oh, but I guess you have to be an A**Hole to be a manager or to have any authority inside that bank). Just beware, they are not here to help you or your account they are here to take your money and to charge you any way they can.

Absolute thieves! Read the reviews yourself (USBank and US Bank). You can easily indentify, and should ignore, the couple of reviews submitted by the bank's management. I majored in business and I promise you that if you give this bank access to any of your money you WILL end up as ripped-off and pissed-off as everyone else who has had the misfortune of trusting US Bank. I agree. US Bank is the worst. I had to jump through flaming hoops to change my last name on my account when I got married. Instead of changing my name, they closed a savings account I had opened as a child. 15 years of establishing credit down the drain! Wait, it gets better, they asked me to refrain from using my checking account. What do you mean stop activity on all accounts??? A week, several tears, and a confrontation with a hateful branch manager (the source of tears), my name was finally changed on my existing checking account and a new savings account was established. Or so I thought, until my personal checks arrived listing my maiden name. A new battle emerged as I fought to convince a customer service specialist (all 5-stars worth) to REMOVE the fees I had been charged for these worthless checks.

Why did I stick with them, I ask myself nearly everyday. I have been at the same local branch through three different names - Star, Firstar, and US Bank. Plus, I like(d) their online service. But even this service has taken a downward spin as the website is constantly unavailable. How is it possible to manage your financial accounts when customer service is poor, banking hours are extremely limited (I dont know about you, but the money I save at the bank is money I earn by working, yet my banking hours completely conflict with my work schedule), and online services are unreliable.

There is no way to manage your accounts. You don't enter the bank because they make you cry; you don't call the 800 number because they make you wait at least 20 minutes; instead, you incur multiple overdraft charges. I have never had an account balance less than $0, but I have had multiple overdraft charges in the last year. I have been with this bank for year, but to my knowledge, these deceptive practices are new. I guess my most recent experience of asking to talk to a supervisor about overdraft charges, being promised a return call, and listening to a voice mail from another customer service specialist the following day (guess what...I was at work) was enough to make me raise my white flag.

With their horrible customer service, unreliable online service, and deceptive check card practices, I would not recommend US Bank as a trusted financial service institution. I am currently in search of a more reliable source, but frankly, I would probably be more satisfied with a monkey managing my finances.

US Bank, if I could give you 0 stars, I would!

I agree that the vulgar language in some of the prior commentaries make some complaints seem a little "over the edge" and harder to take seriously. However, coming from a person who IS able to manage finances, I personally have not have a good experience with US Bank, either. I did not choose to be a customer of US Bank; however, began dealing with them when they became the servicer for the lease on my vehicle. I can not comment on the Bank's normal banking practices, but I do feel they have extrememly poor customer service. The times I have had to contact a representative for something over the past few years, only twice have I gotten a representative who was kind and helpful. Most often, the representatives are extrememly rude. No one wants to sit on the line for 10 mins, waiting to speak to a live person, and then be spoken to in a short manner. In 36 months, I have had one payment that was late. This was due to a banking error with my own bank. I proactively called US Bank, explained the situation, and asked that a note be made on my account that the payment had be sent via postal mail from my bank and that it was on it's way. The representative stated she made the note, was extremely helpful, and I hung up the phone satisfied. Only the next morning, I receive a call from the collections department (my payment was not yet late at this time)and was spoken to in a very rude manner by the gentleman who called. I am sure it is a difficult job and the collection representatives get to deal with some very "colorful" people on a day to day basis. However, not ALL people need harassed. Call and harass me if I am late every month, call and harass me if skip payments, but do not call and speak to me rudely when I have been making payment consistently and am not EVEN LATE YET! US Bank just simply needs to monitor some of their representatives a little better and watch how they speak to people. I am sure they want to make money--who doesn't?--just do it in a non-agressive way until it is actually called for.

US bank is by far THE MOST poorest in customer service, account management. They are a low budget bank and care nothing about their customers. I have been displeased with them and have closed my accounts. Family members and friends of mine didn't take much convincing to close their accounts either. US banks are snakes. You can't understand half the employees in the Manteca branch. I have been into three different branches, two in Modesto and one in Manteca. They all stink, as in foul stench and customer service. They use the excuse that "they have so many customers" that they can't always post overdraft account charges on the day that the customer might slip into insufficient funds and "that is just how the system works." Well this was my experience, an item cleared on 11/08 and they didn't apply a charge until a day later. I made a cash deposit before they assessed the fee. so being the low budget bank they are, they believe it's fair to apply this $34.00 fee. I am currently filing a claim about this matter because US bank won't budge. US BANK IS A JOKE! BEWARE, DO NOT BANK AT US BANK!

I am a customer with us bank and have been very pleased. It is very obvious that the people who complain alot and use such vulgar language are the immature customers who cannot manage their accouints. Of course those people are going to make a bigger issue than necessary and blame all their mistakes on the bank. Because they have little class of managing their finances the they have little class of dealing with the associates working for US Bank. Get a life and go back to school and take a class on management of finances. Also a class on Ethics and control of mouth. You know who you are with the sick mouth. Iwas in the banking business on a higher level and learned how to handle people with very little respect for others. I understand sometimes customers get upset with the procedure of how associates handle situations, but instead of becoming on fire and out of control, take a deep breath, count to five, and smile. You will achieve better results and the associate will do everything possible to make you happy. Banks do have rules and regulations to protect their customers. A day without laughter is a wasted day. Don't take life so serious and control your emotions, Not only do I have alot of banking experience, I have many classes in psychology. A degree........... What matters in this world is that you love and are loved.Keep Up the GREAT Work US BANK. I am a HAPPY customer.

I've been with US Bank for about 2.5 years now, since graduating from college, and I have been pleased with them ever since I opened my account. Whenever I've contacted customer service they've always been very helpful (both on the phone and in person) and they've even helped me out with online issues. I've never had any overdraft charges because I make sure my account doesn't fall below a certain amount. The only fees I have had to pay are the ones they charge for printing out checks in case you forget to order more and need to write a check. The fee is only $1.00 per check so it isn't a huge deal. I have student loans, car loans, property loans, and other bills that need to be payed off, so it's not like my case is special from anyone else that's commented on here. I think the majority of the people who has given a review on here would not have this many complaints if they would just manage their finances better. I'm only closing my account with US Bank because I'm moving to an area where US Banks are not available (the east coast). That's actually my only complaint with them. Oh well!

Simply put. Fuck USBank. Its not that I can't manage my accounts--its because this is how USbank makes their money. I've had numerous bank accounts and the bullshit these USbank reps tell me is bs. "You purchased this item last week...but it takes them this long for it to go through." uh..NO. It doesn't take "them" that long to process..its the damn bank. Its their way of making money. I've banked with TCF, Wells Fargo, Credit Unions and NONE of these make this claim. All in all, fuck UsBank.

Should be ZERO STARS...

USBank is a corporate nightmare. What happened to caring about the customer? True, people need to manage their money better and be responsible with their bank accounts so that fees don't happen. But this bank is set up to feed off the people and families that live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to get ahead. I am not a person who has funds in my account at all times. Sometimes I have a low balance because I live paycheck to paycheck. I have had my account with them for about 3 years now and have been swindled out of plenty of money. Who can justify charging a $35 OD Fee for a 15 CENT OVERDRAFT?!?! Regardless of whether or not they have reveresed in the past, they should care about their reputation and reverese that clearly ridiculous fee. I have had a couple of instances where the 800 # has treated me wonderfully and helped me out tremendously in tight spots. I appreciate that tremendously. But those times that I have been treated like the scum that takes advantage of their system, or like a theif. I have never been more humiliated and angered than I have been with this bank. Credit Unions from now on!! NEVER bank with this institution. They are corporate whores who feed off those who are poor. They are designed to rape you!

This bank sucks the big one. I just opened my account in May with them. The guy who opened my account was a complete idiot who didnt know what he was doing. I was not told about the ridiculous "You have to wait 5 business days to get the rest of the amount of a deposited check for the first 30 days you open the account." Of course, bills would come into play AFTER I found this out. I practically had to ring necks so they would give me MY money that I WORKED FOR, so that I could pay my bills. I am having a horrible experience with this bank, and once again IVE JUST FREAKIN OPENED THE ACCOUNT. Never ever have I seen anything as horrible as USBank. I've had two accounts at other branches before I moved and had not a single problem with them. First off, I was charged for getting a new bank card, since the idiot who opened my account spelled my last name wrong into the computer. Then that whole scenario I described earlier. Today, I go look into my account and Im expecting to see the rest of the 119 dollars that was supposed to go in. I see 84 dollars...of course now I'm going WTF!! So I look at the transactions made, and transactions I've made about 2 freaking weeks ago are showing up. I had the money for those transactions when I made them. So there is no reason why they should have waited til I had the money I was supposed to get today to let those go through. Oh, and get this, when I was going to close my account before they wanted to CHARGE me! I am going down there later to attempt closing this account again -_-. This bank gets NO stars! Go elsewhere before opening an account with these money hungry bastards.

US Bank sucks! I just had a bad experience like other guys. I made 1 overdraft, but was charged 2 times fee. I had to email for the explanation. They said sorry for the confusion and told me that I was charged the 2nd time because some gas stations runs $1.00 for credit authorazation. What the heck, I dont drive. I dont care whatever it is, because I did not make that transaction. It took days for them to reply to my email. Guess what? They charged me $7.00 each day, for the nagative balance while I was waiting to clear the confusion and to resolve the 2 times charge fee problems. So, the money I owed them from $31.00 originally came up to $132.00. What a great way to make money, Ha! I was tired and sick of dealing with this bank so, I paid the fee and closed my account. DO NOT OPEN YOUR ACCOUNT WITH U.S BANK. THEY HAVE SUCK SERVICES.

there are a lot of fees when deal with U.S Bank. I was charged $15.00 for receiving an incoming Wire Transfer.

We have a personal line of credit with US Banks--- 17 years without a missed or late payment. They just raised out interest rate from
Prime + 5% to 23.24%. The reason "we are able to do this and are protected by the law." They will review our account in six months to see if they want to lower it. It is not worth your while to be a good customer with this group. We talked to many people and they just don't care.

I recently had fraudulent withdrawals made from my reliacard. This debit card is where all of my child support payments are directly deposited. I have called several times and they will not share information with me regarding the withdrawals. Two seperate police departments contacted this company in an effort to obtain the document needed for prosecution and they refused to cooperate with the police. I am currently on hold for my umpteenth phone call. My first phone call was made 2/18/07. It is now 2/25/07 and I have had no information relayed to me to date. I will be contacting Friend of the Court on Monday to determine if I am able to use a different company for the money I need to use for my children.

I would give them no stars because of the horrible service they have. I had opened an account about a month ago and they keep charging me overdrafts when my accout was positive. I tried to close my account, but they will not let me until after the fifth business day of me trying to close the account. When I finally close it they charge all these overdrafts and refuse to reverse any, even when it is their fault. They denied what they did. They really find ways to make money from people. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I cried because I had no shoes...until I met a person who had no feet! That's right folks...Like many of the other folks who had been taken for a ride by US Bank, I too had been cheated of a couple of hundred bucks. After being lied to multiple times, I just gave up while being amazed at the level of deception this bank would stoop to in order to save a paltry $200. Then I came across this gut wrenching story (dated 13 Oct 2006): http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17322452&BRD=1719&PAG=461& dept_id=25271&rfi=6 Silas Braxton (who suffers from end-stage renal failure) and his wife Evelyn Casey-Braxton were served foreclosure papers by US Bank because...get this...US Bank lost their mortgage payment checks! An excerpt from the article: ----------------------------- "In fact, we have a receipt to prove it," Casey-Braxton said. ( that they had paid their monthly mortage ) When the Braxtons went back to the bank to complain, they showed the clerk the receipt that proved they had paid their bills before the loan had been foreclosed on. They were stunned to hear that it didnt matter. "They told us that anyone can (make a fake) receipt," Braxton said. "Whats the point of giving them out if they wont honor their own receipts?" He said people at the bank made him and his wife feel like it was their fault, even though the bank had lost the checks. --------------------------------------- Let me repeat that: He said people at the bank made him and his wife feel like it was their fault, even though the bank had lost the checks. Read the article and do your own due diligence before doing business with this evil institution! Remember in the late 50s, Ford tried to save its embarrassing failure of a car by flooding magazines with ads that screamed "The Edsel is a success."? The public was not taken in by these flashy slogans. My question to those reading this review is: Will you fall hook, line and sinker for US Bank's 5 Star guarantee while they continue to hoodwink the likes of the Braxton couple? What did the Braxtons do to deserve this hell? By the way, this is not a chance happening! About two years back, I had come across another identical case of US Bank foreclosing on a property in an almost identical manner! A challenge: Find me a single bank among the nation wide chain of banks that is WORSE than US Bank! I am continually amazed at good hearted nature of the American public that pitches in to save a stranded whale or indulges in similar acts of random kindness. Do your good deed for the week. Print the above mentioned article and this review. Take it to your nearest US Bank location and give it to the customers who are unaware that they are selling their souls to the devil! Needless to say, if you have an account at the bank, close it out!!

Avoid U.S. Bank's Visa Buxx card. Their customer service is virtually non-existent, and their operations side is incompetent. Worse, the two never talk to each other. My daughter's U.S. Bank Visa Buxx card was fraudulently charged with five charges processed in Europe. We live in California and the card was used in California on the same day. US Bank still has not fully credited my account for the full amount although we have cooperated with their every request. Also, they have cut off my access to the account statement and refuse to fax me a hard copy of the statement. I submitted written complaints the the Bank president, the OCC, the California AG, and Visa USA. And they still can't get it right. As I said to the OCC, I am a lawyer with experience in dealing with these matters. An ordinary consumer with a 9 to 5 job and no legal training would be utterly at your mercy. By copy of this letter, I am notifying the California Attorney General, the Federal Reserve Board, Visa USA, and any consumer or media group that is interested concerning your shoddy practices.

Can someone explain this one to me?
I have a US BANK account and they, knowing that my account is negative, thanks to them and their fees, KEEP PRESENTING checks to it. This of course incurs MORE fees. Every day they are running checks against my account that they know is negative. I only have two checks out that haven't cleared, yet I have dozens and dozens of returned check fees, more than three a day....
I went to the grocery store and found out that that is where the two checks were from, and they told me it's their policy to only run them twice then contact the check writer to settle it. So tell me, why is USBank continually presenting these checks to my account that they know is negative rather than sending it back to the store? I'll tell you why. So they can get the fees. They know I'll have to eventually dig my self out of the whole so I can live.
Can one of you bank employees answer this post? I mean, cmon, I wrote those checks over three weeks ago, and they have been ran DAILY the whole entire time. Then, this last weekend, I thought I had x amount in my available balance, which is the balance I always go by. There were NO OUTSTSANDING authorizations. So I went on vacation and spent money. When I went to bed Friday night I had $98 in my account. Enough to cover both of those checks.
Did they run them then, Nooooo...when I wake up Saturday, I am $622 in the hole...so I called them up. They said, "Oh, sometimes we let you spend money even if you don't have it in there, depending on your credit". I have horrible credit. There's your first clue. Then, while I'm $622 in the hole, they go ahead and authorize a withdrawal from a internet business for $138. Why would they do that????
So, yes, I'll admit I'm not squeaky clean at record keeping, but I know how to check my outstand auths and my available balance, and I know it makes no sense to present a check to a negative balance day in and out...
so if someone could explain that one to me, please do!

US Bank is one of the better banks around. It is a large bank, no question, but attempts to make each customer's banking experience personal and pleasurable. What I like most is that they have the full range of financial services: mortgages, credit cards, deposit accounts, commercial loans, insurance, online banking, stocks. Basically you can take care of all your financial needs with one company, which I consider very convenient. Only negaitve is that they don't have locations yet in the South or Northeast. People complaining about fees banks charge need to manage their finances better. US bank does charge fees , but the fees are either for account misbehavior (overdraft or return checks fees) or for services provided( statement re-orders, wire transfers, etc) Hey, they are a for-profit business, as all banks are, so they charge fees. Also US Bank has people available for assistance 24hr a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Overall a good place to put your money.

Banking with U.S. Bank has always been a pleasure. The only people who complain about bank fees are people who can't seem to manage their accounts. No one should write checks if the funds aren't in their account already, it's against the law and should be punished with higher fees. In some countries, the fee for an overdraft is $100 per instance, and if you do it 3 times, you lose the privelege of having an account entirely! Customers overdrawing their account irresponsibly cause bank loan interest rates to climb and savings rates to drop because of the losses the banks recognize. If you've written about fees charged against negative available balance, it's because you illegally wrote a check when the funds weren't in your account yet. Learn to manage your money better.

I recently made the decision to close my account with US Bank after having an account with them for 3 years. I couldnt tell you the countless battles I have had with them over fees and check deposits. I was charged 2 overdraft fees yesterday by the bank and my account wasnt even negative...until the Overdraft Fees! I had deposited cash the same day my account got low and they held the deposit and charged me! They say my "available balance" fell below 0, but my real balance was still positive. I am opening a new account elsewhere. Customers beware! Do not work with this bank. A radio DJ in my area was speaking about bad banking practices and described his situation on air- he didnt have to say who the bank was, I knew from the description. I have paid over $300 in bogus bank fees in the last 2 months, the DJ has paid over $6k in the last 8 months!

I have recently paid them about $280 in overdraft fees. The kicker is that according to their online banking, my actual balance never went negative. Until they charged their fees, that is. They based it all on my 'available balance'...deposited funds had been held and they used that to charge me overdraft fees. I am looking for another bank.

I see alot of bad reviews here so It looks like a mixed bag of satisfaction. I have been a checking account member with US Bank for over five years and have not had ANY problems. Making deposits has always been as quick as a breeze, talking to personnel concerning my account has always been easy and I have never had a problem on a statment or with my card. Online bank statment viewing is always working and their 1800 number on the back is always quick and easy. I have moved three states and have not had ANY problems with trying to make a deposit or check the balance of my account. Customer service is efficient and I have neve not received a bank statement. I wish all banks were this easy.

the us bank in molalla treated me unfairly and closed my account after only a week or 2 after joinig them. It was just because i had some personal issues with a young lady that works there. the person in charge was also rude to me over the phone and asked if I wanted to call the police, which i still don't understand. i'm no longer aloud to even go into that bank or i could be in trouble. What does my personal issues have to do with having an account at a bank? and i think it was wrong to close my account because someone has a problem with a customer. I hope this doesn't hurt kasey's feelings.

I agree. I am a young college student and was taken advantage of with a secured card for which I was told if I make regular payments for 12 months, I could be moved to an unsecured card. I have been making regular payments for 18 months and paying off the balance. I have also been approved for an unsecured card through another bank for a much higher amount and much lower interest rate and my credit score has increased by more than 100 points. I called US Bank and applied for an unsecured card for which I was denied which hurt my credit. At this point, I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. If I cancel, it hurts my credit. If I reapply for an unsecured card and get denied, it hurts my credit. The secured card is indirectly working against my credit instead of helping my credit even though I am making payments on time! On top of that, the money I used to secure the original card is basically trapped and I received a letter with denial of acceptance letter telling me that I should sign up for a secured card which I already have! The communication at US Bank is pitiful to say the least. Do not trust these people with your money and your credit score! I will never purchase anything through US Bank again.

I agree with fred23. Some of these reviews seem to be from employees, perhaps even paid to hype. They certainly appear to be dishonest. US Bank has a terrible reputation for poor customer service and false guarantees. The complaints against US Bank are quite alarming and border on criminal. It is believed that the complaints and lawsuits against US Bank that are available on the Internet are only a small fraction of the problems that that US Bank has. I would not advise anyone to do business with US Bank. Visit the following site for information on US Bank: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/usbank_complaints/links/

i've had nothing but good experiences with USBank. they have a free checking account and no balance you have to keep in there all the time. if you keep up with your own banking records you shouldn't have any problems. i did mess up one time cause i forgot to write something down in my register. the CSR at the branch actually kept my register for a day and balanced it for me, showing me my error and refunded the charge i had because i had never had that happen before. i'm very happy with them.

I like this bank. They have provided me with great service for 5 years. I'm surprised at the negative comments- but lets be honest. If you write bad checks, you aren't going to like any bank. I highly recommend USBank. They have a great website too and free billpay with your checking account. And you can earn cash rewards on your Visa checkcard.

USBank is one of the best companies I have ever worked for. If you are aware of policies, if your branch employees are kind human beings(as they are told to be), and if you truly keep a register to manage your own money, you would be just as thrilled. This is the ONLY bank that I have seen not throw money away on commercials, billboards, and needless advertising. They throw their money into the customers. I understand that fees can be frustrating and I can make a courtesy refund here and there, but when it is obvious that the customer is not balancing nor keeping track in a diligent way, I can't continuously give fees back. EVERY bank is that way. EVERY bank charges Overdraft fees, and EVERY bank has funds availability. As for the $100 from the check being available right away, that means $100 is available. Whether you choose to take it in cash or deposit it in your account, you only get $100 until the check clears (overnight typically). Its a check, not cash or guaranteed funds. If you have the money in your account to cover that check if it is no good, you should have no trouble cashing the check and depositing the cash. USBank has spent the last two years on a new focus. Customer service. Random surveys are being completing, employees are being ranked based on their service (individually!), and managers are tracking this! We get paid bonuses to givegreat customer service. The better we are the more they will give us in bonus. If that is not a very effective way to give consumers the very best service, I don't know what is. I have been with the company for 5 years and counting. I will never bash this company nor say a negative word. I have worked at other banks and have realized the true meaning of service and great products. We are steps ahead in products, fees, and service.

The U.S. government- the wonderful "institution" that it is, has turned to US Bank for handling it's child support payments-- what an assinine move!!! I have had my card for a total of one month and every time that I try to activate it I get a busy signal.
