Amazing that such a place could produce St. John of the Cross and Teresa of Avila, Cervantes, El Greco, and Torquemada all together; but they are all parts of the same huge and bizarre and largely misunderstood culture.

His portrait of Cardinal Nino De Guevara is just disturbing but reveals his mastery at capturing a mood. The absolute antithesis of Renoir and a painter that has his own style down so well, you can always spot an El Greco a mile away.
