11/28/2003 | Captured on canvas the same mystical intensity that his contemporary, Tomas Luis de Victoria, captured in music. Magnificent and unlike any other artist. Amazing that such a place could produce St. John of the Cross and Teresa of Avila, Cervantes, El Greco, and Torquemada all together; but they are all parts of the same huge and bizarre and largely misunderstood culture.

06/03/2003 | Toledo in a Storm is mesmerizing and captures that ominous feeling of an approaching storm so well. His portrait of Cardinal Nino De Guevara is just disturbing but reveals his mastery at capturing a mood. The absolute antithesis of Renoir and a painter that has his own style down so well, you can always spot an El Greco a mile away.
