 | abichara (67) 10/29/2008 | With McCain on the ballot here, I fully anticipate that Arizona won't be contested this year. McCain regularly wins re-election here with more than 60% of the vote. He will win the state by a similar margin.
McCain's presence on the ballot though belies the fact that this is rapidly becoming a swing state. In fact, the Republicans picked up two AZ US House seats in 2006 and they won the Governorship by a strong margin. This was a really solid showing on the part of the Democrats. The state still leans Republican, but like other Southwestern states, it is beginning to drift more Democrat.
UPDATE: Surprisingly, a few recent polls indicate that Arizona is beginning to waver. It should really concern the McCain campaign that support in the candidates home base is rapidly eroding. I anticipate that it will go for McCain by about 6-8 points, but it shouldn't be that close with McCain on the ballot. This could be an indication that he has significant problems nationally.

Original comment:
With McCain on the ballot, not in play. Without him, in the future, things will change.
Update:
Latest polls show Obama only 2 points back having steadily closed the gap. If this one falls to the Dems, it could be a landslide of epic proportions.

 | callitdowntheline75 (79) 08/13/2008 | Regardless of Democrat Janet Napolitano as its governor (and even if she were to be tapped as Barack Obama's Veep), there is no way John McCain loses his home state. But if he even has doubts about carrying it, he's lost the election- simple.
