Even a few years back I sensed that if any state in the US would go from Red to Blue it would be Colorado. People have been moving to Colorado from both the east coast and California in droves ramping up the Democrat political trends there. Colorado is also one of the most environmentally conscious states and Denver/Boulder is the liberal bastion of the Rocky Mountain West. The Ted Haggard scandal in Colorado Springs shed light on the hipocracy of social conservative politics, plus the DNC had been hosted in Denver to Obama's benefit, I think this state is definately going blue.

Definately in play with the polls showing a very tight race. This is one of the few states where McCain's campaign is outspending Obama in advertising, clearly aware of the volatile nature of this state.

two trends benefit democrats here. one is a rapidly increasing hispanic population, which trends democrat, although not as strongly as blacks. two is migration of new voters into colorado from both the west and east coasts that are decidedly more liberal. this state has been solidly republican for the past 30 years, but recently has been trending democrat due to demographic changes. the key in my view will be how well obama does with suburban voters and how well will he be able to turn out hispanic voters. if he can turn those two demographics, he'll win here. i think mccain will win this state in a very close contest. he has some strength in the mountain west, which is close to his home base of arizona.

This is one of Obama's big targets, and the Denver location of the convention should help. Liberals who couldn't afford to live in California have been moving here. It's a very purple state, and Obama is very popular with a very energetic campaign.
