Solidly GOP despite the best efforts of the buffoon like local Republicans

GOP politicians have made a lot of blunders in Kentucky in recent years, including a major corruption case that led to the election of a Democratic governor. Hare-brained Jim Bunning is just one "macaca" comment away from losing his popularity. Still solidly red, though the state could undertake a shift to the blue side if the GOP fails to develop credible young candidates. Obama might make inroads but still has very little chance.
