To me, this is one of the most fascinating states to watch. Even though very few electoral votes are at stake, they could make the difference. An acquaintance worked in Bozeman on the Tester campaign in '06, where they scored an impressive victory. Tester and the other Senator, as well as the governor, are Democrats. Fiscal corruption, overspending, and erosion of civil liberties were big issues for Montana voters in the '06 election, and they could be again. McCain has a very poor record lately on all of these issues. Hurting Obama are the facts that the state is overwhelmingly white and relatively rural.

Should be solid GOP but the polls say otherwise. Look for Obama to spend some electronic coin here to distract McCain even if he doesn`t win the state

This could be one of the big surprises. Obama has actually been running ahead in some polls here. Democrats have done very well here in recent years, the Iraq war being a huge issue. I'd still bet on McCain here, but McCain may be forced to fight for it which isn't good news for him.
