Overrated battleground state for me because it's going to McCain. Ohio has voted on redneck impulses recently and I don't see much that will change it. The state is aware of its electoral importance and enjoys being (in a small order) a kingmaker. But Ohio showed its true colors in 2004- I'd be flat stunned if they voted for a Harvard intellect ("lee-brul") over their imagined Reagan-incarnate stumbling-grandfather-esque moses in the form of McCain. I'd bet money on it.

In Ohio the current leadership is Democrat but the Democrat culture of the state is old union labor. Obama showed poorly in the state primary, and there is a respect among the typical Ohio Democrat for veterans so McCain and his moderate at best policies are appealing to these people. They are also uncomfortable with blacks.

The average Ohio Republican is satisfied with McCain. However, Republicans are a minority in Ohio. Overall, Ohio is too close to call.

To me, the election may be won or lost right here.

Ohio was one of the strongest KKK states not all that long ago. Obama faces an uphill battle here, and not just because God's Own Party counts the votes.

Always a fight for this one, with lots of accusations from all sides of voter fraud and/or voter suppression. Part of the swing state trinity of the past few elections (Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio). I'm not sure either candidate can realistically win without Ohio.

This state is always in play, and this year more than ever. Balanced on a razor edge.

Definitely up for grabs. The states bordering Lake Erie (Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio) will be the most critical in this election. The candidate which wins 2 out of 3 wins the election. Ohio and Michigan are tied and Pennsylvania leans towards Obama. All 3 are pickup opportunities for McCain, since Obama didn't fare so strongly with working class and independent voters during the primary season there.

Obama will run up large margins in the more Democratic areas of the state, like Cleveland and Akron; however the area around the Ohio River Valley and Cincinnati are trouble for him. Polls suggest that he's going to have trouble holding on to some of the industrial sections of the state too, and that only means trouble for the Democrats in November.

Will it be Hillary's nomination Waterloo? Or the beginning of her march to victory? It will be one or the other, my money is on the latter.
