 | irishgit (159) 08/14/2008 | All but a mortal lock for the GOP, despite slow demographic changes which favor the Democrats. Barring miracles, any changes are at least two elections away.

 | Loerke (53) 08/13/2008 | The money that has flowed from big oil to the GOP in the last generation is scandalous. Why would Texans wish to stop collecting the returns which that investment has brought them?

 | James76255 (25) 08/13/2008 | McCain will win it, by how much could depend on Bob Barr. There are more Libertarians in Texas than some people might think and Barr might draw a few votes away from McCain. It won't be enough to give the state to Obama, but but it might be enough to make it closer than expected.

 | Drummond (60) 08/12/2008 | Texas is slowly changing, but not quickly enough for this election. If McCain has to fight for Texas, he's probably in a lot of trouble.

 | abichara (67) 08/10/2008 | Texas is going for McCain, but with not as strong of a margin as when Bush ran in 2000 and 2004. Some areas like San Antonio, Dallas and Austin are trending towards the Democrats, but that shouldn't be enough to ward off Republican strength in Houston and in the other rural areas of the state. Polls right now are suggesting about a 10 point margin of victory for McCain.

 | zuchinibut (46) 02/24/2008 | Texas is pretty much the conservative center of the United States. Clinton and Obama both would be guaranteed losers in Texas.

 | EschewObfuscation (71) 02/24/2008 | Bush beat Kerry 61% to 38% in '04. Unless Obama turns out a lot more young, liberal skulls filled with mush this year, expect a similar outcome.
