I love Athens! I don't understand comments where people say they liked the Acropolis, but didn't like the city... I have to admit, though, that I lived in Athens for a few months and it wasn't until after the first 8 or 10 days that I really started to like the city. The Acropolis IS a skeleton, but it's beautiful in spite of it... or because of it. It's haunting and breathtaking. And you can see it from almost anywhere in the city.

Athens is a hectic, dirty city, but the Acropolis is certainly one of the wonders of the ancient world. It makes going to Athens worth it, considering the fact that it would be another overcrowded, polluted city in Europe. Greece is a beautiful country outside of Athens.

Need to be kept better. Nice place, but needs proper cleaning due to volume of tourists visiting.

It's beautiful but getting trashed by too much foot traffic. Pollution control is necessary.

It's great to see history. Unfortunately, ruins are ruined after all. The smog of Athens is oppressive though.

I've always wanted to see the Acropolis, and the rest of Greece.

The Acropolis is overated. It's a bare skeleton. Many of the parts of the Acropolis were taken by the British and are on display at the British museum. The light show at the Acropolis at night is pretty boring, but nice visuals. Athens is so dirty and crowded. I never want to see the Acropolis again because I have to go to Athens.
