 | Keetsula (0) 03/14/2003 | As an art historian, I consider the Duomo in Florence as one of the architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance era. When I first viewed it from David's Park in Florence, it glowed as bright as the sun. The bronze doors of the church are considered the greatest feat of Ghiberti. Imagine creating relief doors out of molten bronze over 500 years ago. They are referred to as the "gateways to heaven".

 | loverboy (1) 11/21/2000 | Yes, it is a great peice of work but if you want to get right down to it, you may not want to waste your time in the line to go up the long flight of stairs. I must say this was more of a memorable experience than the stucture itself. one plus was the beautiful view of the city from the top. if i had it to do over again i would spend more time in the botanical gardens or walking around the city in it's beautiful splendor. very beautiful city.

 | Sloat451 (0) 11/21/2000 | I spent a month in Florence and could see the Duomo from my apartment. Not only is it beautiful, but filled with history. The church inside is great too.

 | darren (0) 10/25/2000 | You've seen one Duomo you've seen them all. Although, do look above and check out the three-headed devil devouring the non-Christians on the mural. Go upstairs for the view of Firenze- amazing.

 | gerg10334du (0) 08/31/2000 | The Duomo is one of the worst visible buildings of Florence. It's elaborate gates showing Biblical scenes is awesome and entering the ball, one feels as if they are going back in time, witnessing not only figures of history but the work of outstanding artists. Too bad that the air pollution is taking its toll on the marble covering but hopefully preservation will prevail.

 | opro9578rg (0) 08/10/2000 | If you go to Florence, you must go here. It's stunning. Make sure to note the intricately carved doors. Also see the Bapistry, which is part of it, which has an amazing fresco on the ceiling and beautiful mosaic floors.

 | Fed_9525om (0) 08/09/2000 | A great view of the city from the top. A great structure and form from the 15th century. A landmark of the city. Take a look from Piazza Michelangelo on the other side of the river.
