The Melbourne Cricket Ground (often called “MCG”, or “G”), seats 99,000 spectators for this open-air stadium; by 2006, the demolished Member’s stand will be replaced and will increase capacity to over 105,000. Located in Yarra Park, it is the home of the Melbourne Cricket Club. The MCG was the site of the 1956 Summer Olympics, and is the future site of the 2006 Commonwealth Games.
