If you're into the touristy stuff, skip it. But if your adventurous, its pretty cool. I love the multitude of people, food and culture. I just love the city.

I love the Colonial over all style of this area of Mexico City, the cobble stone streets, bugambilia trees, old spanish architecture... It is more of a locals' hang out, so if you're into the tourist-trap sort of attractions you won't appreciate the beauty and culture richness this area has to offer. If you're into experiencing other cultures I recommend you visit on weekend nights, when you'll run into a street market full of hippie vendors of all sort of very cool stuff, like funky jewelry, tie-died clothes; you'll also have a multitude of side walk cafes and bars, and a food market (yum!), and will always hear the neat beating of drums in the background. There are also very interesting museums within walking distance from the main plaza, such as Frida Khalo's home and Trotsky's museum.

A cool funky little section of Mexico City with tons of street vendors, a cool old plaza, a pretty church, and tons of people walking around. There's a cool little bar in the main square in an old stone building - definitely worth a look. Make sure not to eat anything before you go - you will find every treat imaginable in the little food stalls scattered around the square. I had the best Quesadillas I have ever had the good fortune of experiencing in Coyoacan, and also bought a pair of freaky, square looking shoes for about $30. What can I say? I recommend Coyoacan.
