I'm the parent of a teenager. I also work part time as a sports official.

Both of those things got me used to being told I'm wrong a long time ago.

I think that part of the reason why I've lasted on this site for so long, despite the fact that I usually review relatively controversial subjects, is that I'm able to take criticism in the chin. Anyone who decides to post their thoughts in public has to be ready to answer questions honestly.

Some reviewers pick up and go because they can't handle the criticism, they get tired of perceived ideological biases or other factors. Many others come here just for self-validation; any type of criticism shatters this illusion.

Debate (or any form of communication for that matter) is a two way process. Spewing opinions without any critical input is pointless. Personally I like the give and take and encourage it. I like it when people engage the subject matter aggressively

If this was the case, I rather imagine RIA wouldn't exist anymore as we know it. People are told that they're wrong all the time. I've certainly been told enough times.

This isn't necessarily the case all the time, but sometimes when someone is telling another person that they're wrong, they sometimes are not understanding what another reviewer is trying to say. I think if we would listen to one another a little more, these misunderstandings could be avoided altogether.

We all know not everyone is going to agree with you. Just dont back down.  If someone tells you your wrong,  stand your ground and tell them they are wrong,  or just keep it friendly and tell them "Lets just agree to disagree."   No reason to leave.

Would hope someone would not leave because of a difference of opinion. of course we will disagree at times. maybe some may think one is wrong but others may say "you are right"

To be honest when people disagree it normally makes me research the topic more so as not to be ignorant of another’s view. If I feel I have got it wrong or that I just did not get the topic like I thought, I will go back and change my review if needed! If someone questions you especially on RIA don't take it to heart, but instead look further into his or her disagreement. Don't take it as a negative, but turn it into a positive cause sometimes we are just plain wrong with our views!!! If you still think that your opinion is right according to your understanding then just leave it and move on!! Don't get frustrated and put mean comments, as that is just plain wrong; agree to disagree and move on! (This is sometimes hard, but the best thing to do!)

This might be a reasonable excuse to leave some things in life, but a place that calls itself "The Opinion Network" woudn't be one of those things. Someone saying you are wrong about your opinion is sometimes nothing more than their opinion. If they say you are wrong about the reasoning for your opinion, then prove yourself right. If you can't legitimately prove yourself right, maybe you are wrong.

Absolutely right Donovan and MissPackRat ~ not everyone will agree with ya and someone will ALWAYS tell you you're wrong.  RIA is an opinion based site.  To leave because someone tells you that you are wrong, shows that you have no back bone.  Get a skin!

Well, that's what RateItAll is -- an opinion Website.  Everyone is going to be thought to be wrong by somebody at times.  And even then, we should agree to disagree.

A puny excuse.

People tell me I'm wrong all the time and they will continue. I've learned we all have opinions some are based on facts and some are not. Some are a matter of faith and some are based on a lack of faith. I'm not always right but I am always me. You may not agree with me and I may not agree with you, it really doesn't matter. Value truth and learn from the insight of others.
